Week 12 paragraph contest
« on: July 20, 2014, 12:30:18 AM »
With only two paragraphs to pick from I decided to pick Trouble405.  Both were well written and I wish we could have two winners.

I am picking for Ponytail since she is away now.

Congratulations trouble405.  You may put up a new sentence.

Sarah sat straight up and opened her eyes with wide awake delight! Today was her wedding day. She stretched her limbs and bounced out of bed. Her Dress fit like a dream and her bridesmaids outdid themselves on her hair and make-up. She marched up to the alter in joyful expectation. She knew He would come. Her groom frowned at her, he must be wondering why she was so happy today when the last time he saw her she was crying and screaming that she'd 'never marry him, no matter how much money her father owed him!'. The priest droned on, but Sarah heard nothing, her head was full of dreams. In her mind she saw her Johnny storming through the sanctuary doors and hurling aside every guest, who would all, of course, try to stop him from rescuing his love from a fate worse than death. Then he'd reach her side and tell her 'he loved her too much to see her throw her life away like this', and he'd take her in his arms and kiss her and then he'd carry her out of this place and they'd fly to Borneo or Bali or someplace and buy a little house on the beach... Sarah's groom kicked her. Her head cleared and she realized everyone was staring at her. 'Well do you?' her groom asked. Sarah blinked, were was Johnny? Why hadn't he come? Sarah turned to the waiting priest and tried to speak, but she soon found that all she could do was cry.

Sarah sat straight up and opened her eyes with wide awake delight!  They would be bringing her baby to her room soon.  She wanted to touch that little soft head and smell that clean little body all sprinkled with baby powder.  In her mind she could smell him now.  She waited impatiently for them to come.  She had told the nurse she planned to breast feed him so she worried about him being hungry as she waited for what seemed like hours.  Then she heard the faint knock on the door and joyfully shouted for the knocker to come in.  A woman walked into the room but she wasn't bringing a baby but was holding a tray of food.  "I thought you were bringing my baby," she said.  "Why Miss Sarah, you know you ain't got no baby.  Why, you've been in this mental hospital for almost ten years now," stated the woman.

Sarah sat straight up and opened her eyes with wide awake delight!  She had not just dreamed it!  The insurance company had approved the $5 million life insurance policy she had taken out on her husband of six months, the richest man in Iowa, who slept somewhat restlessly beside her.  `Poor dear,’ she thought as she gazed at him with a sympathetic smile.  His heart condition, which had been under control with medication, seemed to have worsened since their marriage.  She rose from the bed and with a spring in her step headed downstairs to make breakfast for him.  Fresh fruit with fat-free yogurt, scrambled egg whites, one piece of dry toast, skim milk and a cup of tea containing her very own special ingredient.
