It's a bit off topic, but I just watched Robin Hood play Ian Fleming on a new tv show called Timeless. He was great! The show itself is pretty enjoyable (though I had my doubts after a shaky pilot episode). And it's always nice to see Matt Frewer again.

I saw the promos and thought it would be good but haven't had time to check it out.

Re-posting this for Christmas! Enjoy!
 :a035:

Once Upon a Night Before Christmas

Authors Note – this is based on the classic Christmas poem ‘A Visit from St. Nicholas’ by Clement C. Moore.

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all thru the town,
The creature known as 'Santa Claus' made his rounds.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with dread,
In fear that 'Santa' might just kill them in their beds.

The children they huddled under their sheets,
While visions of terror preceded each heart-beat.
And Snow in her pixie cut and I like a sap,
Had just settled the springs in our Christmas trap.

When out in the hall there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the peep hole I flew like a flash,
To spy on the prey my trap was to smash.

The dust on the glass of the peep hole was thick,
The thought of the allergens almost made me sick.
When what to my watering eye should suffice,
But a miniature sleigh pulled by eight little mice.

With a tiny gold driver, so sullen and cross,
I knew in a moment that all was not lost.
And having no dignity I started to grin,
For the monster was but a tiny Rumpelstiltskin.

Now Bashful! Now Sneezy!
Now Happy and Sleepy!
On Grumpy!  On Smee!
On Dopey and Doc!
To the top of the stair!
To the end of the hall!
Now dash away! Dash away!
Dash away all!

The little man cried, whipping Smee with a thwack,
As he drove up to my door and scuttled under the crack.
Between my legs he passed 'cross the floor,
From the way he was walking I could tell he was sore.

This was hardly the monster about which they'd been warned,
Obviously Henry must've gotten it wrong.
He'd claimed that his moms had been in the wood
Plotting mischief or at least up to no good.

They'd been seen in the woods plotting magical mischief,
Henry even claimed they'd been talking 'Elvish'.
But what had really happened was quite the sight,
For Emma and Regina had joined forces that night.

They'd cast a wicked curse with a 'poof!'
To punish Rumple who kept himself aloof.
He wouldn't be jolly or merry or gay,
In fact he'd barely acknowledge Christmas day.

So they  plotted to force him into taking part,
By shooting him with a magical dart.
It didn't make him merry, but instead rather ticked,
For it shrunk him down and forced him to play Saint Nick.

He was dressed all in gold, from his feet to his bust,
And his cloths were all tarnished with loathsome fairy dust.
A bundle of gifts he had loaded on his back,
And he looked like an angry fairy just opening his pack.

His lips how they glowered! His expression, how scary!
His eyes shooting daggers, saying to all, 'Be wary!'
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a scowl,
And the beard on his chin was itchy and fowl.
The stump of a candy cane he held in his teeth,
While on his chest there hung a wreath.
He had a gold tinged face and a padded out belly,
That looked about as real as those on the telly.

He was skinny not plump, a right lean old elf,
And I felt sorry for him, in spite of myself.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
He filled all the stockings, and then turned with a jerk.
And over Emma's stocking a spell he wove,
And giving a satisfied smirk, back under the door he dove.

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a grumble,
And away they all went, with nary a tumble.
But I heard him exclaim, 'ere he drove out of sight,
"Tell Emma Swan her feet will itch for a fortnight!"

'Oh well.' I said, returning to my wife,
After all, 'All magic comes with a price'.
And I knew my daughter wouldn't trade this for any respite,
For Rumple playing Santa had been far too comical a sight!

MERRY CHRISTMAS ONCERS!

ABC needs to get rid of Dungey.  See below.

I've got that sinking feeling in my stomach. Combine all this 'new direction' talk with Robert Carlyle's recent interview where he basically says he wants to pack up and go home (to Scotland) and the new OUAT sounds hardly worth the watching. Not that I'd blame RC if he does ask to leave with the crappy materiel he's had to work with in the last 3 seasons, but I find it hard enough to watch this show at times as it is and if they kill him off my motivation to stick with it will be practically gone.  :'(

It's weird that this show that has had this perverse unwillingness to let characters change even when the story clearly says they should have changed by now is suddenly wanting to make big changes rather than the gradual types of changes that can really build up a show (think DS9 or LOST). As for the mass cast changing people are cringing over (i just looked around at some response and saw posts that claimed all of Robert, Ginny, Josh and Jennifer want to leave the show), I really don't expect we'll see more than 1 person leave because if that many main draws leave at once then they will hemorrhage viewers.

As for Rumbelle the story is such a crappy mess that a small part of me will be happy to see it over with because I am so frustrated with the combative relationship they've pasted over-top two of the best characters in Once (ok Belle in Once as one of the best is a huge reach, but Belle in Beauty and the Beast absolutely IS one of the best ever so I'll go with it), but I want a happy ending dang it! I don't want another argument or another magical whosits they have to find or defeat... I just want the two of them to say they're sorry and that they've been absolute idiots for the last three seasons and then they can walk off hand and hand into the sunset and leave the rest of them to 'protect' Storybrooke from now on. That I can live with. I don't want a teary death scene and for Belle to stick around pretending she's sorry he's dead and then hooking up with whatever hotty they hire to be next seasons baddy (because let's face it, Belle likes bad boys even if she won't admit it... am I right?).

If I had the time and the talent I'd love to just re-write the whole thing start to finish and fix all the mistakes. Neil would never have died, Emma would have her family and she'd smile at least once an episode, Regina and Hook could be the snarkiest couple ever and Rumbelle would never break up even once!  :96:

And furthermore the history of the Dark One(s) would be a long and rich one, not short and confusing and Merlin wouldn't be a wasted character killed off in such a pointless way!

Agree about the history of the Dark One.  We've only seen what 3/4 of them. And let's face it, there were more in capes. I wondered why so few but figured that the Dark One lives forever.

Jennifer has the directing bug.  So, her wanting to leave doesn't surprise me.  I'm not sure about Ginnifer and Josh except maybe they want away from the cold and into the warm to raise their kids.

For the last few years, the network has focuses on the shows by one producer and I can't remember what they call her.  She did "How to Get Away with Murder" and several other of this ink.  Plus we have the dumb (and I do mean dumb) sitcoms that they seem to like to foist on us.  Are game shows next?

Guess who's contract is up for renewal and she hasn't heard anything -- Jennifer Morrison.  I bet Ginnifer, Josh, Lana, and Robert's are up for renewal also.  Remember Castle.  This was the exact thing they did when they almost cancelled the show and then did cancel the show.

Yeah I just read that about Jennifer and something about the show wrapping up at the end of season six and going into a completely new direction for season seven, possibly with none of the main cast back.... But where all these rumors came from I'm not sure yet. The only verifiable articles I've read are Robert Carlyles interview about wanting to go home and Jennifer's statement about her contract not being renewed yet.

Still I guess I kind of hope that this is true and they wrap the show up this season ( granted I want this done right and not in a hasty crap pile kind of fashion) and as for the new direction, I'd be willing to try it out, but I don't feel like I have to watch it if the main Once cast is done.

Seems the Dungey met with the Eddy and Adam to talk about the show's future.  All had ideas and Eddy and Swants it respected like LOST was.  She gave an interview at upfronts for Spring and mentioned Once and it all came from there.  TV Line covered it but noted emphatically that nothing was set in stone.

Love it.

Latest article says that they're moving away from Emma to Regina.  Now I know Jennifer just finished directing her first movie and had to edit it.  I figured that was why she wasn't shown as much.  Also, the story was to center on the Charmings.  I'm betting they want to continue the show but not give any raises.  That's Dungey's mode of operation.  Plus she is somehow related to the one who does alot of the other ABC shows.
