Here is part of a poem I still remember memorizing in 7th grade--it may not be all that accurate but it stuck with me all these years! What do you remember?
Blessings on thee little man,
Barefoot boy with cheeks of tan,
With thy turned up pantaloons,
And thy merry whistled tunes,
With thy red lips redder still,
Kissed by strawberries on the hill.
And in 8th grade:
The selfsame moment I could pray,
And from my neck so free,
The albatross fell off and sank
Like lead into the sea.
I would be interested in finding out what you remember memorizing!
