It's not only that we don't take time to ponder things, it's that many of us have the 'as long as my life is still the same, I am not going to get off my butt and do anything about it' attitude. We are a nation of excuses, justifications, becauses and buts...as long as we and those we love are comfortable, that is all that matters.

That DNA things is creepy!   
Wait until January of next year.  Many of us will find our insurance increasing.  Certain physical conditions that are beyond our control will cause us to pay more for insurance. 

By the way, I am not against helping people who really need it.  But in my opinion we are becoming a nation of people who think they are entitled to whatever they desire.  We have taken away the initiative and desire to become independent, productive citizens.  People who are trying to start a small business are finding that with all the government mandates they can't make it.

Did you hear the one about the Viagra (do you think it's any coincidence the name is very similar to Niagra?) beta test.  The pharma wanted to determine whether Viagra had different effects on members of different professions.  SO they tested it on groups of architects, doctors, lawyers and engineers.  All groups had the same reaction as the general population except for the lawyers-----they just got taller.  Bye-bye

Couldn't agree more and I'm from another country! I'm all for helping those who truly need it, but if your sitting on your butt simply because you don't want to work, then the rest of us shouldn't have to pay for you to do that. In Canada they will pay for someone on welfares college education but someone who works hard to attend school and has a few jobs to survive will get stuck with big huge bill at the end of it, but the welfare person gets off scott free. Its not fair.
