Snakes are OK until your nephew leaves open the top of the cage for his pet garter snake and it escapes and wanders around your house for a few days, popping up in the most unexpected places. :c002: :a102: :41:

My son caught one when he was about five years old.  He had asked me if he saw a green snake if it was alright for him to catch it and I, thinking he would never see one, said yes.  Evidently he already knew where there was one because in a few minutes he comes in with this snake.  He kept it a while, let it go, caught it again, and let it go over and over for years.  We knew it was the same snake because it had a scar on it's body where he had gotten stuck in the spout of a garden watering can and my husband, while screaming and yelling for my son to hold on to the snake and not let it touch him, had to tear it apart to get the snake out.  My husband is not as fond of snakes like I am.
After several years our yard man saw the snake while cutting shrubs in the front of the house and chopped him in to!!  My son was devastated and so was I.

A few days ago there was a black snake about 4 to 5 feet long in the front yard while my grands were here.  I called them out in the yard and we followed it around the yard until it finally went into the woods by our house. 
I love non-poisonous snakes! 
And the question is:  Have you ever held a snake?
