Big Brother 23: And a New Head of Household is Crowned (July 21)
July 22, 2021 ~ televisionchangesblog

Hi all!  And the Big Brother fandom rejoiced on Thursday night when Kyland was crowned the Head of House.  Let’s face it!  Big Brother 23 started off as it was in week five or six with all the wheeling/dealing of Frenchie.  The only person that Frenchie didn’t have an alliance with was Derek X and the only reason was because Frenchie had planned to put him on the block.  And by the Sunday show, Frenchie had got his due with being put on the block with teammate Britini.  Can he talk his way into being saved?  I already know but won’t spoil it.

Post Nominations

So, Frenchie and Britini are up and Frenchie feels betrayed.  Personally, I think that Brent should be next to him in the nom chairs but it seems Kyland felt that the nominees should come from the same team.  Hey, it puts the Jokers down one this week.  But with the Power of Veto competition to be played anything can change.

Well, you can tell that Frenchie doesn’t care who he takes down.  The producers remind us that Frenchie kept throwing the Slaughter House name out.  The nominations Kyland says was that Frenchie was basically a distraction and Britini only has loyalty to her team.  Brent tells us that Frenchie’s nomination was karma due to Frenchie being sketchy.  (But Brent!  You were in Frenchie’s ear.  What does that make you?)  With Britini in tears, the Jokers are in disarray.  Azah even calls Britini a scapegoat.  She sees that Kyland should have put someone from another team up.  Derek F. is upset because Kyland hit to close to home and didn’t give Derek F. a head’s up.  Frenchie does tell Britini to let him go home and he tells us that he will put the veto around her neck.  He still thinks he’s a mastermind and could figure out a way to stay.

Kyland talks game with his team.  Alyssa is glad that the kings are safe because of Frenchie’s power trip.  Meanwhile Tiffany and Kyland talk about the nominations and feel good about it.  Tiffany tells us that Frenchie must go (I so agree).

Brent talks to Derek X and Whitney about the nominations.  She’s glad that Frenchie’s up.  Brett is taking no responsibility.  When Frenchie meets with Kyland, Kyland is not buying his comments about saving Britini.  Kyland promises in Diary Room to make sure Frenchie doesn’t win.  Kyland, with Britini, is a different matter.  He tells her that he felt she was the one person who wouldn’t go home next to Frenchie.  Kyland makes it plain that he does not want the POV used on Britini.

Brent looks to be hunting for a showmance.  He’s flirting with Hannah and she’s playing with him.  She doesn’t believe his sweet talk and gives him nothing.  Brent thinks she is interested.  Boy, talk about a swelled head.

Frenchie meets with the Slaughter House to decide what to do.  Frenchie sees that they have turned on him and thrown his name out so why help them (you couldn’t see that happening Frenchie).  Derek F. pretends to sleep and hopes that Frenchie will not mention him (Frenchie didn’t).  After this meeting, Frenchie blows up the group to all the rest of the house.  Frenchie’s reasoning is that too many alliance members called his name and he’s going to make them regret it.  Word gets back to Kyland who is a member of Slaughter House and he knows Frenchie must go.

The house guests plans to celebrate Alyssa’s birthday so they wrap her in toilet paper (don’t ask me why).  This is where Kyland finds them and let’s all the rest of the Slaughter House know what Frenchie has done.  This will cost him with any who might have helped him.

It’s Time for the Power of Veto Competition

It’s time to draw people for the veto competition.  Kyland draws first and gets Alyssa.  Frenchie wants Derek F. but gets C.laire.  Britini wants a teammate but gets Derek X.  That won’t help her chances.  Derek X. is determined that Frenchie won’t get off the block and Frenchie knows it.

POV is being played in a beach setting.  Call “Untan Lotion,” they must get a float out of a tube after filling it with suntan oil.  Britini is first and figures out that the ones that are farther away gives the most lotion.  The ground is slick.  Wait!  Don’t they play something similar like this for HoH later in the season?

Britini figures the pattern out but so does Derek X (who figures out that the SPF 30 gives the most lotion).  All three times are good.  The winner is Derek X in 4:41.  Kyland’s time was 4:54.  Frenchie finished at 5:06 and Britini was 5:08.  (Britini don’t be ashamed.  You did great).  Alyssa (at 6:57) and Claire (at 5:33) didn’t want to win and could have cared less.  The winner is Derek X.  All hoped Frenchie wouldn’t win because of last week and he didn’t.  Derek X sees it as his chance to eliminate a big threat in the house.  Britini is upset because she knows she is not coming off the block.  Frenchie is in tears but he will hold his head high as he leaves.

After the Competition

Frenchie admits his last hope is gone. (So was Travis’ but you had no remorse.)  He talks to Azah and admits he probably cause this himself.  Azah is understanding.  She says she knows that the game brings out every emotion in you.  Derek F. does tell Frenchie he was taught by his mom never to give up and Frenchie shouldn’t either.  Great advise Derek F. but did you have to do this in front of Britini.  Frenchie now swears that he’s coming for everyone.

Frenchie does make one last pitch to Kyland and Derek X to keep him..  Frenchie only wants a chance.  Frenchie uses the old reason we always hear that if he’s up against anyone else, he will go home.  Yeah but Frenchie, I don’t think the house or us could take another HoH with you at its head.  Even with the promise of keeping them safe, can Derek X. be swayed?  Derek X. admits in Diary Room that he is thinking of the house versus Frenchie’s word.  Which is the best choice?  (Well, I wouldn’t believe Frenchie after last week.)

Power of Veto Ceremony

Derek X. has made his decision and calls the rest in.  Usually we hear pleas to the POV winner to keep each safe.  What gives?  We don’t hear any speeches?  Derek X. adjourns the meeting without using the veto.

Derek X. feels that he made the best decision while Kyland is glad that the noms remain the same.  Britini is going to campaign to stay in the house.  Frenchie is going to fight but how?  He tells us not to count him out yet.  Derek F. is upset about losing a teammate.

Turn in tomorrow for live eviction when we learn:

Did Frenchie find a way to stay?

Does he blow up everyone’s game on the way out?

Does the door hit him as he exits the house?

Frenchie has made it interesting but the first week was ridiculous.  It seems last night, alliances was made with everything but the kitchen sink.

I ended up putting the post here instead of the link.  Sorry for the confusion.

Big Brother #23 (July 22) – And Another One Bites the Dust (and All Hope It’s Frenchie)

So Big Brother fans are almost all aligned on who should leave tonight.  After a messy week one where Frenchie only missed Derek X. in an alliance, it looks like he is on the way back to the farm by the end of week two.  Can he pull a switch of targets?  Will he have pity votes that will keep him safe?  Will the door hit him on the way out?  And who will be the next one to go?  Two Slaughter House members have a target on their back but Brent wants a girl out?  I believe it will all come down to the next HoH and which of the many alliances they are in.

Eviction Night and the Recap

Okay, I’m not going into the reminders.  They just seem to kill time.  I will say that Big Brother reminds us of Frenchie’s fall from power, alliances discovered, and tears shed.  We’re reminded of the Slaughter House and Cookout and Frenchie’s paranoia blowing up his alliance.  Kyland put Frenchie and Britini up. Derek X. did not use the Power of Veto.  Big Brother’s announcement was:  “Is Frenchie fried?”  Did they have to go there?

Julie welcomes us to day 16 and says that Frenchie had the wildest HoH in the history of Big Brother.  (Julie you need to be on Twitter more!)  Then she tells us that Frenchie is working to stay in house (of course everyone on the block does that).  Derek X. wants Frenchie gone and feels bad about not taking Britini off but didn’t want Kyland to have to make another nominee.  Even Frenchie knows “no one in their right mind” would vote against her.  Luckily, Britini sees that too and tries for the low profile.

Frenchie starts his “redemption/stay safe tour” with Derek F. and Tiffany.  TIffany deserves the eye-roll award.  He eventually makes his way around the house only hearing what they want him to hear.  In the Diary Room he enacts dying only to come back to his life.  If Dan G. did it, so can he.

Julie’s Announcement on Alliances (House of Cards)

Last night the alliances started reforming. Sarah Beth and Kyland share personal history and seem to have gotten close.  (He doesn’t make her feel awkward.  Kyland meets with the Slaughter House with Derek X.  It seems like all but Brent thinks the alliance is dead.  Brent starts trying to charm people to stay safe while Whitney keeps her distance.  When the Slaughterhouse met, the remaining members didn’t offer Kyland safety but that’s not stopping Christian and others from doing it.  Kyland does acknowledge to Christian and others he has two people he thinks should go and the rest agree that those two are Brent and Whitney.  The Kings and Queens feel safe going into next week.  Meanwhile Christian talks Alyssa about how Brent is conspiring only to have him arrive to talk to them.  Brent is still saying a girl needs to go.  In his mind, there is still a Slaughterhouse.  Christian will say what he thinks Brent wants to heard but it doesn’t mean Christian will do what Brent wants.

Nominees and the Votet

Julie gives each a chance to sway the vote.  Britini is first and uses a rap to thank people for leting her be  and experience Big Brother.  Frenchie tells the house guests that he knew he would have crazy experiences and play the “country” card.  He has a friendship with all (yeah, right).  He wants to keep the friendships going.  The voting begins.  Claire is first.  By the time the cycle plays out, the votes are Frenchie 11, Britini 1 (made by Derek F.).  Frenchie has lost the vote and will be going home.  Will Frenchie leave with class.  Frenchie knows he is gone and hugs Britini.  No one else waits for a hug but they do a “friendship circle” and he expects them to do amazing things and be amazing people.  Is Derek F. crying?

Frenchie and Julie

Out the door he goes and to the Julie questions.  She thanks him for keeping it classy as he exited the house and Frenchie tells her he is worried about her questions.  Julie wants him to tell us how he did as HoH.  Frenchie tells us his wife told him to come to Big Brother and change the game.  He made it his point to keep “people of color” in the house and he hopes future house guests follow his lead.  (Wait!  Is that why he wanted Kyland and Derek X. out.)  Julie asks about outing the Slaughter House.  Frenchie tells us that he formed it with the group of people he selected to keep them close.  They made him nervous and he felt he did the right thing as he proved with some of them that they were what he had expected. Julie asks about the “double of nothing.”  Frenchie is not sorry he didn’t take the two weeks safety.  He wanted to see his kids photo because he’s a dad first.

Julie plays the messages.  Tiffany wants him to know that she respected him but if he continued, no one else could have won.  Brent didn’t think Frenchie had a shot at winning and Frenchie betrayed Brent first.  (My question to Brent is when?)  Britini apologizes that he had to leave while Derek F. called him his best friend and promises to play for both of them.  Frenchie is shedding tears over Derek’s F.’s comments and tells Julie that Derek F. will be his friend for life.  They may come from different walks of life but they are connected now.

Head of Household 3

Outside, the house guests are told that the HoH is consists of two videos that Tom Green of Celebrity Big Brother has made in Ottawa, Canada.  He will be doing two “man on the streets” question/answer game called “Tom Talks Big Brother.”  They will answer questions based on the videos.  If they answer correctly, they are safe.  If the answer is wrong, they are out.

After the first video, the questions start.  The first question sees Derek F., Britini, Brent, Christian and Tiffany leave.  Second question is missed by Azah.  All get question three correct.  On to video two and a few people who know the game.  Question four sees Whitney and Claire leave the game.  The next question gives us a winner.  It is Xavier crowned the new Head of House.

Now, where what will Xavier do?  New alliances were formed last night but, after Kyland, Brent was there first trying to make an impression.  Xavier is a member of the Cookout but will he keep them safe.  As we watch the celebration, the manipulation starts (especially with Brent).

As the show concludes, Julie talks to the house guests are.  After congratulations are given to Xavier, she reminds his team, the Kings, that all are safe.  He tells us that he’s looking forward to the HoH rewards, especially the bedroom and private bath.  Britini is asked if aher rap helped convince others to let her stay.  She tells Julie that it only took 10 minutes to prepare but she’s been practicing since Sunday.

So... will the Wild Card be used?  Will it throw a wrench into Xavier’s nominations as its ripples go through the house?  I really want to see where Xavier’s head is at in regard to nominations.  I think he, as a lawyer, will play a game that Brent doesn’t understand.  Will he keep his Cook Out crew safe or did he buy into any of the alliances last night?  We’ll start getting answers Sunday night (if you don’t have live feeds)!

Big Brother 23 – Eviction Night or Blind Side Nigt – (7/29/2021)

When we last saw Big Brother, all were celebrating the potential exit of Brent.  Brent has been annoying everyone from week one.  Considering the way he acted that week, Brent really thought that the HoH that Frenchie got was his.  Big Brother doesn’t work that way.  Last week Frenchie left.  This week it looks to be Brent.  Plus Brent evidently didn’t pay attention during the “sensitivity” training as he has been actively seeking a showmance.  I honestly think Brent is only “in love” with one person – himself.

Pre-Eviction

Remember, the last thing we saw last night was Christian not using the Power of Veto.  Julie told us that Brent was excited for the first big blindside this season.  The bad thing, she says, is it on him.  Blindside started at the end of the Power of Veto and we are off to the show.

Julie has information about creating and pulling off a blindside – keep it a secret.  Christian thinks it’s smart he kept the nominations the same.  Xavier hugs Brent but is excited that he is gone.  Britini is going to lay low.  Will any house guests tell Brent the truth?  Of course, someone will slip up.  It always happens but will Brent’s ego allow him to believe it is happening.  While Brent feels secure with his “The Mafia” formed last is week, he assumes he has the numbers.  While all feel somewhat uneasy about the decision, they do have to laugh behind his back after he makes his rounds.  Brent is trying not to be paranoid.

In the kitchen, the crew is laughing at their pictures.  Derek F. thinks that Xavier works in government, as a lawyer or with the FBI.  Xavier denies it.  Derek F. is beginning to upset Xavier who tells us in Diary Room that he hopes Derek F. will shut up.  Derek F. admits that it is the way Xavier talks and Xavier tries to play it off.  Upstairs, they watch as Brent moves around the house trying to find people.  When Brent talks to Whitney, she seems to try and warn him but he’s not believing her.  Whitney says he’s too oblivious to what she’s trying to say.

HoH is discussed, the players feel that one of the Kings has to go to make the teams equal.  Derek X. feels safe because he’s in the “Royal Flush” alliance and his team’s alliance but he can’t take the shot.  Alyssa wants to win since she hasn’t won anything.  My question is:  how are you so sure you will win.  Someone would have to throw it to you.  Tiffany would love to see the showmance broken up.  Are they finally beginning to see things as individuals?  No, it’s too early yet.

The Live Eviction (and Possible Blindside)

Julie goes to the living room and Britini is up first.  She’s rapping again but stops and does a traditional exit speech.  Brent does his shouts out and jokes with the house guests.  He tells them he is a man of his word.  He does a smart response and says he will still be there.  By a vote of 11 to 0, Brent is evicted from the house.

When Brent reaches Julie, he looks – er -- bland.  It’s not like he knew he was going but he did think he was safe. I’m beginning to think he has only one facial expression – the one we always see.  Brent thinks he was a threat and people saw it.  He’s looking smug on camera for Julie.  His personality and others game took him out.  Asked about Derek X.’s game which is similar, Brent says that their game was different.  Julie asks why did you lobby for the blindside not to be used.  Brent thought he’d be safe if the veto wasn’t used.
Brent blames the other house guests’ game play.  He also says he tried to pull Frenchie away from his decisions but Frenchie wouldn’t listen.  Brent thought he had 6 to 5 and Julie wants to know why.   Brent felt the vote would run team lines.  Julie plays the godbye messages.  Xavier says no hard feelings.  Hannah tells him that his arrogance sent him home and gives air plane instructions.  Derek X. said the house target shifted.  Once it start, Derek X. could stop it.  Allyson says that Brent thought she was wrapped arround his finger but she had him wrapped around her finger.  Tiffany tells him that the Jokers and three Aces sent him out the door.

HoH Competition

Will the house still have targets, Julie asks.  Next up is the HoH competition.  Tonight’s comp is “Peer Pressure.”  They will play as a team.  They must complete their surfboard puzzle as a team.  Each player has 25 seconds to put a surfboard together.  If they don’t race back and change players, they are out.  The first team to finish, wins HoH and the last player will be HoH.  Jokers are doing great but it is the King’s that wins. That’s the one team no one wanted in the HoH room.  Christian will be HoH.

Julie tells us that Tuesday will be the last Wildcard competition.  Personally, I’m glad of that.  Next week for the HoH, we have endurance and we will be able to watch it on live feeds.  Does anyone believe that?  It’s been promised beforel

Another great blog, Linda.

I really didn't care much for Bent and am not sorry to see him go. I have gotten finally to see some of the personalities we have and have to say that Xavier is at this moment my favorite hg.
He is smart and he is funny.
I like Tiffany, and Sarah.
Actually this season I don't have any deep negative feelings toward anyone. I like our house guests!

Big Brother #23 – Christian for Week Four (8/1/21)

Big Brother fans were surprised that Christian won the HoH this week.  The plan was to throw it to someone who would put the pair of Christian and Alyssa?  So what happened?  Christian, and his competitive nature, too over and he saw he could win so he did.  Unfortunately, this set up the showmance with the perfect opportunity to continue their romance and this time legitimately in the HoH bed.  It also meant that the plans that the Royal Flush made were null and void.  All plans and alliances may be null and void soon with the number of alliances that exist in the house.  Maybe next week the dynamics will heat up some more as it looks like teams dissolve at the eviction Thursday.  Will the alliances last?  I can’t wait to see

HoH Aftermath

The HoH, as you may remember, was a puzzle surfboard.  I’m not sure what was going on but it seemed to the houseguests to be harder than it looked to the fans.  As the only alliance of four left in the house, Christian and Alyssa were happy.  They were safe and had heard rumors that they were going on the block.  The King’s target from last week was Whitney but Xavier thinks she needs to stay.  So with the power in their court, who will Christian put up to leave on Thursday night.

Christian and the members of the King’s team celebrate but Xavier, a member of the group, is worried.  Tiffany now is all for Royal Flush because she’s a member with Christian and Alyssa so she feels safe from the noms.  The Kings meet in the Storage Room for ANOTHER celebration and Alyssa is happy.  Alyssa calls their showmance a ‘social game.”  Wink, wink, keep believing that Alyssa.  Meanwhile Derek F. and Azah are talking.  While Derek F. thinks they are coming for the Jokers, Azah feels safe.  Azah tells him to act happy.  Claire feels safe because of the Royal alliance.  Meanwhile, Derek X. is worried about Hannah and Whitney.  He’s safe due to the Royal Alliance but they’re not.  Hannah thinks she’s okay but she really doesn’t have anything in common with Christian.  Derek F. feels defeated but Whitney tries to encourage him.  Whitney wants Christian out.  He’s the last of the three that was on her exit list.

Yeah – no HoH reveal but we see Christian and his team gather to discuss their target. Alyssa really wants to keep Whitney for next week.  Xavier and Christian don’t care.  Alyssa wants Hannah out because she knows the game and pushes like crazy.   Sarah Beth wants Whitney.  Xavier doesn’t want Hannah up.  Xavier pushes Britini but Christian is saving her for the renom.  So the top three for choices are:  Whitney, Hannah, and Britini.

Derek F. and Whitney discuss workout outfits and Derek F. questions Whitney’s choice.  Whitney has had some questionable outfits but this one is mild.  The outfit question goes to all with Alyssa saying that she doesn’t like it (most agree).  In the hammk area, Derek X. talks about family and China.  Azah understands Derek X.’s feelings.  Both respect their heritage but they love the American life.  This discussion goes over Whitney’s head.

Wild Card Competition

The Wild Card Competition is up.  The Kings can’t play and Claire is up her team.  Whitney must play for her team.  The Jokers must decide between Azah and Derek F. with Azah playing.  Christian in Diary Room tells us that Whitney cannot win. The game is called “Lights Out” (I think).  On entering the room, they are all dressed up in party clothes.  This game involves rolling a ball (an olive) down a curving ramp to the cup to make a martini.  The lights will go off periodically throughout the game.  While Azah goes slow, Whitney has problems.  Claire uses math and winss the game.  Her prize is either a week of safety for her team or two weeks safety (to jury) for herself.  After much conflict, she takes the two weeks.  Tiffany is happy for Claire but it could jeopardize Tiff’s game.

The Royals meet to discuss the nominations.  Christian wants to make sure all are on the same page.  All feel Whitney makes sense, but the second choice is all over the place.  Hannah is discussed because Sarah Beth wants her gone due to Hannah’s knowledge of the game.  Others suggests Britini from the Jokers.  Tiffany sees Britini as a legitimate choice because she could put up their teams due to two weeks on the block.  Xavier doesn’t want Hannah up but has to move carefully due to the Cook-Out alliance.  Jealousy is huge on Sarah B.’s part.  Tiffany doesn’t want to see Hannah on the block so the target needs to stay on Whitney.  Christian tells them those are his three choices and Tiffany takes the blood off her hands by reminding him that it is his decision to make.

Later Christian meets with the Jokers who promise to work with them. I guess Christian doesn’t realize the showmance clause?  Xavier is not happy because it makes it harder to protect the Cook-Out.  (Little do they know, teams are almost over).  Christian talks to Hannah and tells her about the pawn situation.  Hannah calls it hinting and she’s looking for a way to protect herself.  Hannah mentions the Jokers.  Reasoning with Christian is like reasoning with a two year old.  He admits that he needs to decide whether to put her up or not.

Nominations Ceremony

At the Nominations Ceremony (please bring back the key wheel), Christian turns the keys revealing Whitney and Hannah.  Whitney and Hannah are up because his team would have been up if they had won.  Now his squad needs to figure out the target.  Hannah is already gunning for Christian and Alyssa.  Whitney doesn’t know why she was thrown on the block.  Xavier is upset because a Cook-Out member is up but will do all he can to protect her.

Okay, here’s the things these house guests should be considering.  How much longer can the teams last?  They should realize that it’s coming as the option for Claire was jury. Can you count on your original four team member to stay loyal or leave you high and dry?  Just how many alliances will hold together as the jury comes into play?  Could it happen Thursday (and we know it must as it is an endurance comp)?

Big Brother 23 – Where oh Where Is Christian? 8/4/2021

With Big Brother, you always need to know what is going on as Head of Household.  Your job isn’t over until after the Power of Veto Ceremony.  Yet, after reading/watching live feeds, I have often found myself asking:  “Where is Christian?”  Frenchie was all over the place in everyone’s business.  Kyland and Xavier were part of the group and watching over the alliances and groups.  Yet, Christian seems content to stay in the HoH and hold meetings there.  Of course, his second in command, Alyssa, is with him and he trusts his team and the Royal court but is that smart.  I guess we’ll find out tonight.

Post Nominations

With Whitney and Hannah on the block, the rest finally look to start evening up the numbers.  It doesn’t look like the guys are worried being down by three, but they do have issues with one team with four.  After this week, one team will be down to two while Christian’s team will still have four. The others see this as a threat (it is).  These house guests just haven’t grasped the concept that teams must end sometime.  When it does, the teams of four are no more and so is the loyalty.  It will be everyone for themselves.  Thus, their team scheming on which needs to go up next week has been wasted.  We, the fans, know that with no Wild Card and an Endurance comp this week to come, there will be no more teams!

Sarah Beth has been overplaying her hand this week.  She wants Hannah gone.  Alyssa has been whispering in Christian ear and is wanting Whitney gone.  Guess who is winning that decision (Alyssa).  Both Hannah and Whitney are on the Aces and Whitney tells us she is confused.  She knows her relationship with the Kings is done and she’s the target.  Hannah knows she is the pawn but she’s going to find out if the nom was personal.  And, let’s don’t forget Derek X.  He’s the only member of his team that is safe.

Alyssa and Christian are holding court in the HoH bed.  They’re hoding “court” with the Royals to decide who to vote out.  Sarah Beth pushes for Hannah to leave and Xavier for Whitney.  Hannah has told Christian, though, that she would not put him up (wink, wink).  Sarah Beth sees that Xavier wants to keep Hannah and realizes if she (Sarah) keeps pushing her choice, she is a target.  Christian tells Hannah she’s safe and to put her trust in him.  She tells us that she’s still not feeling safe. Hannah is going for the veto.

Xavier talks to Whitney because they are friends.  She tells him that all is okay.  He asks her if she mentioned his team as a target.  She tells him that she’s never said it (but of course she did).  In Diary Room, Whitney points out that Christian’s team had been the target of the house before HoH.   Of course, Whitney goes to Christian about this and asks if she was mentioned specifically.  (It was Derek F. not any of Whitney’s team.)  Christian in Diary Room says Whitney knows she’s lying.

It’s time for backyard fun and Christian is doing pushups and back flips (six!).  As Britini says: he now is on others radar.  As the group relax, Whitney plays up to Xavier making Azah jealous.  At least Azah tells Xavier about her feelings!  Xavier is not in the Big Brother house for a showmane and changes the conversation.  Whitney and Derek X. talks about the nominations then Hannah asks him to protect her.  Derek X. wants both safe but he must first win the veto.  Derek X. talks to Alyssa who assures him that Hannah is the pawn.

The Power of Veto Comp

It’s almost time for the Power of Veto choices.  They’re cleaning and Tiffany falls while doing the moonwalk.  She’s not hurt but embarrassed.  Then Christian arrives with the box to pull for veto (safe until jury).  Hannah picks house guest’s choice and chooses Derek X. (because he will keep her).  Whitney feels betrayed by Hannah’s choice and pulls Azah.  Really, Azah wasn’t good in the Wild Card comp this week.  Very quickly, Tiffany fills Hannah in on the Royal Flush meeting with Sarah Beth’s pushing for Hannah to be gone.  Hannah’s now has a new reason to win and target.

The Veto Competition is setup as a volleyball game.  They must play against themselves.  They roll the ball up the ramp and run to the other side to return it.  If the ball hits the ground, the score returns to zero.  I think it’s called “Jump the Veto” (it’s sometimes hard to understand Alyssa who is host).  Derek X and Azah have an early lead but as the game progresses, Azah drops her volleyball.  While all don’t seem to want the noms changed, Sarah Beth (on the sidelines) wants Hannah gone (with a Whitney win).  It is coming down to Christian and Derek X.  Christian reaches 100 first and wins.  In Diary Room, Christian is happy, Hannah plots revenge for next week, and Whitney is scheming.

Unfortunately, Whitney hears a comment in one of the group gatherings that she is “going home” made by Derek X.  When he apologizes, she tells him she’s ready to go home (liar).  Whitney talks to Christian about staying.  She wants Derek X. up now.  He understands and listens but doesn’t think Derek X. has a chance to go home (he’s a member of Royal Flush).  Whitney makes promises and Christian admits in Diary Room that she’s made valid  points.  Will it sway him?

Power of Veto Ceremony

Christian calls the group in for the Power of Veto Meeting.  Christian does the spill, no pleas are made, and he choses not to use the Power of Veto.  The meeting is adjourned.  In Diary Room, Christian tells us that he’s not putting up Derek X.  Hannah is still worried and she knows that one person wants her out (Sarah Beth).  Whitney is upset and will do what she can to stay.  Azah is happy that Whitney is up but Sarah Beth is still going to try and get Hannah out because Hannah is Sarah’s biggest threat.

Who will go tomorrow night?  Will Sarah Beth sway any votes?  Can Whitney vamp her way to safety, or will Hannah’s alliances keep her safe?  This has been the best year of Big Brother in a long time and it’s sad that one of these two schemers must go?  Of course, we now have new targets to watch in Sarah Beth and Derek X.  So stay tune and hold on to your seat.  With so many weeks left, I don’t expect a dull season.

Big Brother 23 – Eviction Night!  Will the Curse of Frenchie Continue (8/5/21)

The Show Begins

As usual, we get a review. What they forgot to show was Whitney was the third person of Frenchie’s trusted leaders.  With new action, we see Christian is happy that will stay the same.  He wants Whitney gone.  Sarah Beth said she had to back off trying to get Hannah out.  Later, Tiffany fills Hannah in on Sarah Beth’s actions and feelings only to have it broken up by Sarah Beth.  Sarah Beth meanwhile plays up to Kyland which really sets Tiffany off.  Kyland admits that if he had to choose between Sarah Beth and the Cook-Out, the Cook-Out would win.  The Cook-Out meets and realize they must find a partner outside the alliance.  That way if the two gets put up, they can safe guard the Cook-Out alliance.  (I missed a few minutes but I’m sure it’s more of the same).

When I get back after the commerical, Whitney knows she is in trouble and looks for votes.  She comes up with activities including a model walk with Christian participating.  Has he realized he needs to participate!  Xavier has style though and Christian just can’t get the swagger needed.  Later Tiffany comes in on Xavier, Sarah Beth and Kyland meeting and gets upset.  Kyland gets called out by Tiffany for spending time with Sarah Beth.  Everything was awkward when Tiffany entered the room.  Kyland says it was only social and they are okay with the Cook-Out.  Claire meanwhile has finally hit radars (and she’s been invisible until this week).  With being safe until jury, no one knows what to think of Claire.  Tiffany and Azah talk and put the radar on Claire and Sarah Beth.

Whitney hopes to use Alyssa to sway Christian.  She has a one-on-one and promises safety to both Alyssa and Christian for longer than Hannah has.  It’s a better deal (of course) and Alyssa takes it to Christian who seems interested.  In Diary Room though we learn that he wants Whitney gone.  As we get a peak at the living room, looks like Hannah is staying as Whitney is in fancy dress.

The Eviction Ceremony

Julie goes to the living room for the live vote.  Hannah and Whitney are given the opportunity to sway the votes.  Hannah talks to her family first and then the house guests.  She has enjoyed it.  She wonders how the house will survive without her gone.  Whitney gets bleeped at the first of her speech (oh great, not again).  She calls the house guests weird and that she loves them. The voting begins with Derek F. first.  Derek F. votes for Whitney and I have to wonder if the rest will.  The final vote is unanimous (10 to 0) and Whitney is headed out the door.

Again a bleep as Whitney exits to hugs.  They must have known they would need a 10 second delay tonight.  Sarah Beth looks sad as Whitney leaves.  Outside the house, Julie has questions as her picture turns to gray inside the house.  The house guests scurry off to get ready for the comp.

Julie asks Whitney if saw the hand writing on the wall.  Whitney admits she did and thinks she had to leave because she was loud and the guys were scared of her (annoyed is more like it).  She’s not afraid to make moves that scared people.  Julie asks about the threat level and she feels like she was a bigger threat than Hannah.  Asking about the suggestion that Christian use Derek X as a blind side, Whitney has problems understanding why.  Julie tells her about the Royal Flush and puts up the eight members of the alliance.  Whitney admits that explains much of what went down.  The goodbye messages are played with Xavier first who tells her that she was the main target.  Sarah Beth says that she fought to keep Whitney in the house.  Azah tells her that she had issues with Whitney due to Xavier.  Azah has a crush on him.  Whitney is confused and surprised about what Xavier said.

The HoH and the Game Changes

Julie tells us that only one can win Big Brother and calls the house guests to the living room.  All wish Tiffany a happy birthday.  Julie tells them that with the Aces down to two, the Jokers and Queens have three and Kings have four but only one can win Big Brother.  Teams are gone.  “It’s every man and woman for themselves.”  The Wild Card Competition is done also.  They only have themselves to guarantee safety.  Julie offers Hannah congratulations.  She’s asked about the biggest challenge of being in the house and Hannah says the teams.  Julie tells them to go outside for the new Head of Houeshold.

We have a wall competition.  This is the hanging on the wall which looks like a boat.  Each has hand grabs.  The game, “Whale of a Time” is played by them holding on to the last.”  If they fall, they are out (and no mention of the first being “Have Nots.”  The game immediately begins with the wall tilting over.  The next move is usually liquid thrown or poured on them.  Julie says the forecast is for rain, and rain they get.  IT’s pouring.  Tiffany, Azah and Claire look to be set for a while.  Derek X. looks cold.  As credits roll, they’re all still up.  At least they have goggles this year.  When the show ends, no one has fallen.

Sunday will be the conclusion of the HoH competition.  Wednesday will be the Power of Veto and next Thursday, with eviction, will come a twist involving America.  So get ready to help out.

Big Brother #23  – Another Week, Another HoH  (8/8/21)

Big Brother 23 fans!  It’s another week of an entertaining season.  Just when you think you know the floaters, everything changes.  My one concern is that this group can’t get their mentality away from teams and on to playing for themselves.  They spent four weeks scheming to take their team to the finale without realizing that there are other alliances and other agendas afoot.  Will the teams win or will new alliances form and take control of the game?  The only alliance that seems solid going into the no teams HoH is the Cook-Out.  Let’s face it though – at least Tiffany and Xavier are using the alliance to protect themselves.

HoH Competition

An Endurance Competition is hard but the wall has to be one of the worse.  When the show went to feeds, no one has fallen.  In the opening, we were reminded of the Royal Flush and Cook-Out and how Tiffany is running the Cook-Out.

As the Endurance Competition starts, “rain” falls and the boat tilts forward. Christian’s diary room is cock as he talks safety yet he wants Alyssa to win.  Xavier in Diary Room tells us he doesn’t want to win because he’s “good” with everyone.  Alyssa sees this as “her” competition (confident, really).

Derek F.’s diary room runs similar about winning but he’s the first one off.  Maybe he should be glad as the rain gets colder and the “passenger” (figures) start throwing up (green vomit).  Tiffany’s Diary Room is about Alyssa while Azah’s is worried about the cold.  Claire’s Diary Room is about waiting but she says, “I don’t need it” and off she goes.  Sarah Beth feels safe and goes out as does Hannah.  Kyland is not happy with the way the boat is leaning and he’s down (of course the Cook-Out still has members remaining).  Britini wants the HoH but the wall’s tilting makes her fall.  Tiffany, who is still up,  says that Alyssa is her worry and she won’t fall until Alyssa does.

As the game goes on, it comes down to Derek X., Tiffany, Alyssa, Xavier, and Azah, who is struggling and who goes down.  Christian (Diary Room) feels good since all those left are members of the Royal Flush.  Derek X. (Diary Room) wants all the control.  Tiffany falls and is upset because scared of Alyssa.  Xavier makes a deal with Derek X. so he’s “slipping.”  Now Alyssa asks for safety, but Derek X. only gives it to her.  Alyssa (Diary Room) says she can’t let go but Azah and Tiffany are willing her to fall .  Down goes Alyssa leaving Derek X and Xavier.  So far this comp has run an hour, 24 minutes.  Xavier and Derek X. trash talk but Xavier makes sure he is safe before “falling.”  Derek X. promised not to put Xavier up.  Derek X and Hannah celebrate but Xavier, during the congratulations, urges Derek X. to keep the Kings safe (see what I mean about teams?).

After the Competition

Alyssa feels good about Derek X. winning.  The Royal Flush is safe!  She doesns’t think Derek X. will take a shot at the King’s team but take an easy route.  Alyssa is feeling sorry for herself though because she fell (why?).  Later, Derek X and Hannah celebrate in the Storage Room (why is that the celebration center).  Hannah knows that Sarah Beth wants her out but Derek tells her that Xavier wants the King’s safe.  Xavier meanwhile talks to Christian about the competition.  Alyssa has known that the only way to be safe is to stay on the wall.

Sarah Beth realizes she has some fences to mend with Hannah.  Before the HoH, Sarah Beth has talked to Hannah but Hannah is too smart and doesn’t buy Sarah’s apology.  Sarah Beth thinks she has bough herself a few weeks.  Meanwhile Christian feels secure but Derek X. is talking to Tiffany about the deals.  Tiffany wants a King gone and feels they haven’t respected anyone’s other than their team (she is right but they have the numbers and players to win).  Derek X. thinks Christian is the biggest threat in the house and wants him gone.  If Christian remains, Derek X. will be his target so Derek X. must backdoor Christian. When Derek X. talks to Tiffany, Hannah is listening and the Royal Flush is mentioned.  Hannah gets information from Derek X and then more from Tiffany.  Hannah is not dumb.  She has lost some of her trust in Tiffany.  Hannah stores the information for later use.

Derek F. and Azah has a friendship but Derek F. is worried about Azah because she just doesn’t understand the game.  She never says yes or smiles.  Azah tries smile but it seems awkward.  In Diary Room we learn she doesn’t feel that attitude is right for the real world.  Later Xavier talks about how Derek F. manages to sleep everywhere in the house and all the time.  Derek F. knows they make fun of him and laughs over it.

Derek X. holds meetings to decide who goes up.  Xavier feels that the Royal Flush should be safe as well as the Kings, his former team (at least he said former).  Derek X. is trying to justify putting up a King but Xavier doesn’t understand (duh! Derek X. wants to win).  Xavier is wants Christian to be safe (as a shield for himself).  Xavier wants Britini up.  Sarah Beth is asked the same questions and wants the Flush safe.  Sarah wants Tiffany or Kyland up (to help Derek X, sure).  Did she just throw her Flush team under the bus.  Derek X. is thinking of Sarah Beth as a pawn.  These meetings continue but no one really wants to be a pawn.  Finally, Derek X. fills Hannah in on what he thinks.  Hannah’s target is Sarah Beth but is okay with Christian as the target.  They discuss Britini and Sarah Beth which is the way Derek X. is leaning.  Christian will be the blindside.  Derek X. does tell us he has no clue on what to do – offend the Royal Flush or make a big move!

Nominations

Derek X. holds the nomination ceremony and puts up Sarah Beth and Britini.  The Royal Flush looks worried.  These two are nominated because of trust.  They are the best for his game to keep people’s trust.  Sarah Beth is upset at Derek X. taking a shot at the Royal Flush.  Britini is upset but wants to win the POV and shove it in others face.  Derek X. says it is the best way to get Christian on the block and if not Sarah Beth could go.  Christian (in his superior role as leader) doesn’t understand why a Royal Flush member is up.  Hey, Christian!  Wise up!  At some point all alliances must turn on themselves to win that money.

So, who will win the Power of Veto (non-feed watchers will be surprised)?  Will a nominee come off the block?  Will Christian go up?  Is the Royal Flush doomed?  One thing for sure, we have had an interesting season and people are scrambling which makes for an entertaining show.

Big Brother #23:  And the End of an Exciting Week

Big Brother will see the end of Derek X.’s reign tonight.  He has had one of the more interesting HoH turns and unfortunately, I don’t think we will get to see ALL that happened.  Live-feeders know that last night Tiffany, with Xavier’s help, tried to flip (change) the vote so Christian would stay.  Christian, in his delusion, still made promises from his team to stay, and a blowup happened with the Cook-Out.  Will the Cook-Out survive?  Will the Royal Flush lose more than one member?  Is there a new showmance on the horizon?  Is Tiffany’s game exposed (she overplayed last night and continued into today)?  Well, we won’t find out all the answers on Big Brother tonight but we may get a few.

Power of Veto Ceremony/Introduction

Will Big Brother have time for a recap after Julie’s introduction?  Of course, Julie promises the biggest move ever before the recap.  It is very short and does show Alyssa and Derek X.’s meeting then to the veto.  Christian demands Derek X. to “stick with the plan” in Diary Room.  Oh, and tonight a new twist is announced – the High Roller Room.  Okay really?

Julie announces “to backdoor or not to backdoor.  (Wait!  Haven’t I used that?    We move into Britini’s veto meeting.  She uses the Power of Veto on herself.  Derek X. must name a new house guest – namely Christian.  Christian wants Derek F. up but brave herald Derek X. sticks to his move and puts up an angry Christian (with a sad Alyssa looking on).  Derek X. tells Christian that he’s a big threat and with that the meeting is over.

In Diary Room, Christian calls Derek X. a coward.  He’s not happy with the backdoor but he’s the great Christian and is going to do what he must to stay.  Derek X. in Diary Room tells us that all has been perfect (patience Derek X, things can get worse).  in Derek X.’s opinion, Christian’s exit is best for pre-jury.  Sarah Beth doesn’t need to campaign because Christian will end up campaigning against himself.  Alyssa later asks Christian what he will do as Derek F. offers a hug.  Derek F. tells us that he has to check-in with the Jokers and Cook-Out before he makes a decision.

Christian calls for Derek X. to open the bathroom.  Christian immediately starts in on Derek X. about Sarah Beth throwing him under the bus.  Here to stick his nose in is Xavier.  So Christian starts in with half-truths to stay.  Xavier agrees with Christian.  Julie comes back and talks (finally) about the crack in the biggest alliance left, the Cook-Out.

After commercial, Claire is called to the Diary Room for her card costume.  It’s a card unitard and fairy tale crown.  When the command is given, she must play “52 Card Pick-up”.  Kyland gets called for his punishment.  As the “Jackass of Clubs,” he’s dressed in a donkey costume and must make complicated club sandwiches for all.  (Yes, even the “have-nots.”)  In Diary Room, he tells us the first time took an hour and a half.

Tiffany talks to Christian and tells him that she’s sorry he is up and that Sarah Beth has been too “relaxed.”  Christian is worried about Claire but Tiffany will get her vote.  Tiffany’s goal is to keep him safe (for her sake).  Christian tries to figure out his guaranteed votes.  He thinks he has at least four (the Royal Flush and Britini). Tiffany knows he doesn’t have what he needs to stay and “it tugs on her heart” that people are lying.  (This is Big Brother Tiff, get over it and don’t ruin your game).  She goes to talks to the Jokers to get them to vote to keep Christian.  Tiffany uses that she’s being pushed for her vote.  Britini swears she doesn’t know where her vote is going and Derek F. and Azah are seeing Britini as being bullied.  Derek F. is so sick of Tiff that he wants out of the Cook-Out.  He also says in Diary Room, he doesn’t like being talked to like Tiffany does.  He only listens to his mother and God when he makes decision and he’s tired of his team telling him what to do.  Derek F. tells Azah that Tiffany isn’t playing as a team but for herself.

Tiffany goes and tells Christian that he really needs three votes because the Jokers want him gone.  (NEWS FLASH TIFFANY:  THE TEAMS ARE DONE!)  Christian just can’t understand because he thinks the Royal Flush and one vote is all he needs.  Tiffany is surprised by his reaction.  In Diary Room, she admits that keeping Christian is best for her game (please someone – wake her up).  Tiffany talks to Xavier about how she hurts that Christian is leaving.  She’s getting too demanding and upsetting the Cook-Out because she wants Sarah Beth gone.  In Diary Room, she tells us with Alyssa and Xavier, only two votes are needed.  She plans to make it happen.  She turns to Claire (who doesn’t trust the Royal Flush) and then goes for Britini (using Christian as a decoy). When her scheme fails, she storms off to see Xavier who is with Hannah and starts complaining (and cussing).  Xavier and Hannah look at each other saying:  “We’ve got to keep the Cook-Out together.)

The Eviction Vote

Julie offers the two victims (I mean evictees) a chance to sway the votes.  Christian is first thanking his friends and talking about his friendship/trust of Alyssa.  He promises to be fair if he stays and not take anything personal (or be a cry baby, yeah right).  Sarah Beth talks to her family, upset because she was beside a teammate, and promises objectivity.  Julie jokes about a jury twist (which isn’t happening).  Hannah is first with a vote to evict Christian.  As the rest file in, we see it won’t be unanimous this week.  The final votes are 7 to 2 to evict Christian with Xavier and Alyssa wanting him to stay.  What!  Tiffany didn’t vote for her guy!

After good-byes (and a long kiss for Alyssa), Christian exits to talk to Julie.  He wants to be with Alyssa after the show.  Julie admits that he fought hard to stay and gives him an A+ for effort.  She asks if he knows why he didn’t have the votes.  Christian admits it was his record of wins.  Julie shares that in The Royal Flush, Derek X. was gunning for Christian due to his winning record.  Christian tells Julie he should have taken Derek X. out with the same shot last week.  Christian’s final thought:  he had the opportunity.  He came to play and make good friends and he has.  More with him later and the goodbye messages will be shared on Paramount+.  The show is running long.

America’s Choice

In the Living Room, Julie announces that all are on the jury at this point but there is a new twist.  Beginning with next week, there will be a “High Rollers Room” opening at the Beach House.  America will vote with the top three getting $100 BB bucks, the next three $75, and the final getting $50.  The room will have three casino games with three game changing powers (taking yourself off the block, second veto?, and slipping the power to a favorite.  Of course, no idea yet on how these work.  EAch week, the room will open but the players don’t have to play.  They can bank their money for a better prize.  The better the power, the more it costs to play.  We can vote by texting our house guests name to 97979.

On Sunday we will learn the new HoH and the nominees.  The High Rollers Room doors will open.  Who will gamble?  Now more importantly, we need to know can the Cook-Out be salvaged?  Will Tiffany lose it again?  With Kyland and Sarah be the next showmance?  Sunday is only three days away or get the live-feed and updates!

Big Brother:  Another Week, Another Scheme  8/15/21

So Big Brother is down to jury!  We’ve seen the players leave one by one.  First HoH was a riot as Frenchie had too many alliances except with evictee, Travis.  Then one by one, Brent and Whitney left.  Big Brother also saw the end of the only (so far) showmance with Christian shown the door.  The Slaughterhouse, Butchers, and Royal Flush all have taken hits.  Thankfully, Julie did away with teams Thursday and said everyone is playing for him/her/themselves.  Unfortunately, you can say ‘no more teams,’ but still teams exist.  That’s what we’re getting this week as Xavier is keeping his shield.  Tiffany is in control of Claire while Sarah Beth is under Kyland’s wing.  The only one getting a clue is Derek X. which Britini has clues.  We need the Cook-Out to turn on each other and make it interesting but except for a few cracks, Big Brother probably will not see that this year.

HoH Game

Big Brother had so much to show last Thursday that we didn’t get the HoH.  The game was played later Thursday night and called “Name That Croon.”  The backyard has musical instruments in it.  The BB Lounge is open.  Each with pair off, hear a BB tune that  if about a games they have played.  If the answer is wrong, they are out, and the winner will pick the next pair.  In the Diary Room, Tiffany says she wants to win so bad but as long as a Cook-Out wins it is fine.  By the way, Derek X. is a great host.  The game sees players leave until only the Cook-Out alliance remains.  In Diary Room, Azah is bitter as she tells us she lost because Kyland played for himself.  Final round is Kyland and Tiffany after Xavier threw the competition (on purpose).  Tiffany thinks that this is her competition but once again she blows it and Kyland wins.  Kyland is happy but not happy.  Azah and Tiffany really want it and are mad that Kyland had to win.

After the competition, Tiffany tells us that she’s upset because Kyland won’t put up Sarah Beth while Azah is in tears because he will put up Britini.  Xavier is trying to keep the Cook-Out together but it is hard.  Maybe if Xavier would allow his shield to go up it would be different.  Derek F. is upset and talks with Kyland about the noms.  Derek F. tells  Kyland to play smart but how can Kyland when he won’t give up his pawn, Sarah Beth?  That leaves Alyssa, Claire and Britini (who each have people trying to keep them).  For Kyland it is more challenging (for a simple – er) brilliant mind.  Xavier tells us that the pawns can’t cloud judgements but with Tiffany and Xavier it does.  How can they keep the Cook-Out safe if they plan to take care of their pawns in the game?

Kyland holds meeting (he loves them so).  Azah wants to know why Kyland chose who he did in the game. Did I hear him say, Britini should be gone for the best of the Cook-Out.  Azah doesn’t like the double talk and calls Kyland on his meeting style.  He sees Azah as not a great communicator but I see Kyland as a non-communicator who is on a power trip. Meanwhile Azar feels she’s not heard.  Claire meets with him and plays coy but wants a Joker gone (the team reference again) and Cook-Out members.  Kyland is having problems of who is going up due to the “High Roller” angle.  Derek F. knows Britini is going up but he volunteers to be the pawn.  Bad move on Derek F.’s part but he knows he should be safe.  It looks like Kyland would vote him out for the “fun” of it.  Kyland and power doesn’t mix.

Nominations

Kyland does his nominations and puts up Claire and Derek F.  Both are nominated due to their reaction to HoH (really Kyland – poor excuse).  Kyland tells us in Diary Room that Claire had said Kyland would go on the block if she won HoH.  Derek F. is up because he offered himself as a pawn.  Claire has been a floater in my eyes until now but can she get off the block (on her own)?  The Jokers are upset with Azah thinking that she was going up. For her, Derek F. may be worse.  Derek F. hopes for big “BB Bucks” (for all we know he already got them as we don’t know when the special game happens).  Meanwhile Claire and Tiffany talk and Tiff says losing Claire would not be good for her game.  Careful what you want Tiff.  I think Claire would take you out!

High Roller’s Room

The houseguests are awakened to play “High Rollers”.  They enter a casino room and invited to play BB Derby (is that Sharon Osborne giving instructions).  Each can risk $50 and slide a beer mug down a board to score the highest point.  They get three chances.  For $125 BB bucks, they can play Chopping Block Roulette.  For $150 BB Bucks, it is Wheel of Destiny where you may win the chance to overturn HoH with and replace nominees.  Voter Veto is the one they can play for $50 BB bucks.  They can save their money for coming weeks or bet on a contestant in the PoV (we learn in feeds).  Kyland feels the High Roller for the week isn’t fair because it would put pressure on him to nominate again.  If you play and score, you can use your BB bucks to bet on PoV Competition.  I’ll give you the money awards (by America’s votes) after I finish the game.  Since Kyland, Sarah Beth, Derek F. and Claire chose to play, they can place bets during the competition. (I hope I got that right.) The bucks awards are as follows:

$50 – Sarah, Azah (saves money), Alyssa (saves money and upset at amount given), Kyland, Claire
$75 – Hannah (saves money), Xavier (saves money), Tiffany plays
$100 – Britini (thanks America, saves), Derek X. (happy, saves promises not to tell then tells Derek F., Azah), Derek F. (plays but has $50)

And with that the show ends with a promise of Power of Veto picks and competition for Wednesday night at 8:00 PM.  Will the Cook-Out remain or will it fall?  Will Alyssa get more money this week?  Derek X. has been suspicious.  Will he spill his theory which will put his game in jeopardy?  Is the Cook-Out too confident?  Hopefully, we’ll get more information on the crazy game of the money/games on Wednesday.

Interesting night, I expected by now to be able to root for a person or two, but they are all doing some unlikable things. I guess Derek F. is the most likeable to me, now.

Big Brother #23:  “The Cook-Out Issue”

In the past few days Twitter has come alive with complaints and comments about the only true large alliance remaining:  The Cookout.  Many fans, including me, has no issue with the alliance as they have managed to sustain their group and few outsiders have figured it out.  Others have been increasingly upset because Big Brother producers have allowed “People of Color” to align their side of the house to stay and run the house. The upset group feels that Big Brother should have done something to stop this or called the house guests on the alliance so that The Cookout was neutralized and the season would be more like previous seasons with the obvious winner.

Past History of the Alliances in Big Brother

The reason I don’t have a problem with this is because this season’s cast is more diverse and, excuse my pun, smarter.  When you enter a house with a large segment of the population equally divided not only by sex but ethnic backgrounds, it makes for a more interesting game.  For the past few years, we have had to deal with the racist/sexist/age angles.  I could go far back and point out house guests that were embarrassed after the show but instead, let’s look at Season 21.  It’s the most current season where the problems existed.

Before this season, the Head of Households would take out the ones that were different based on age, LGBTQ status, and whether they were a Person of Color.  In Big Brother 21, Jackson Michie was named Camp Director and had to immediately put up four people to play for eviction.  His choices were Cliff (age), Kemi and David (People of Color), and Jessica (difference in appearance/Person of Color).  David lost the contest and was sent to an outsider cabin.  Over the course of the first few weeks, others from the initial group joined him.  To make matters worse, the alliance of Gr8teful formed with Jack and Jackson making racist and other inappropriate comments.  Both were warned by producers but it didn’t seem to make a difference.  Jack was out quickly ann when interviewed by Julie Chen Moonves, he felt the issues were taken out of context.  When given the evidence in a tape, he seemed ashamed of his actions and apologized.  Jackson (otherwise known as Michie) would win the season and then be embarrassed by his actions on the season finale.  To say he was shell-shocked is putting it mildly.  He was speechless and I don’t think he has really apologized to this day for his actions.

Big Brother 23’s The Cookout Forms

Big Brother 23 has strong players in the cast and they were easily identified.  Seven of the house guests are what is considered People of Color and six of them bonded and formed “The Cookout.”  Their goal was to take each other to the final six so a person of color could finally win the money.  Let’s face it.  The majority of the winners have been Caucasian men who played on strength and looks.  This year, this group would be different and here lies the major issue I have with them.  They excluded a “Person of Color” who was of Asian descent, Derek X.

The Cookout’s Plan of Action

The big goal for this group was to keep it a secret.  Frenchie didn’t know it during the first week’s HoH, but he led to the group’s success by saying on entering the house:  “No person of color or woman will leave.”  Frenchie wanted to be fair.  While I commend him for this, his method didn’t work.  He eventually had to go back on his word after forming so many alliances no one could track them and his handshake with Travis.  This led to Travis going up and out the door.  This also put a target on Frenchie’s back, along with two others who were considered his strongest allies,” Brent and Whitney.  The house was solid that these three had to go.  Frenchie left week two, Brent left week three, and Whitney left week four.  This immediately saw a decline on the Caucasian side of the house but no one realized anything had changed.  All of the house was having a great time and becoming friends.

The Cookout Members Are Strong

The Cookout is strong and has smart members.  This is both a plus and a minus as they can bond together but the cracks are showing.  Derek F. and Azah have been pushed to the bottom of the pack by the others.  Azah, in particular, feels that they have no voice and have had several fights with Tiffany. Meanwhile Xavier and Tiffany feel that they are the leaders which leaves Hannah and Kyland in the middle of the pack.

The problems are now arising as the group has set up a shield (or pawn if you will) to use in the voting agenda.  Kyland is paired with Sarah Beth.  Tiffany has Claire.  Hannah has Derek X. (who is a person of color).  That leaves Xavier, Derek F. and Azah.  Before I get to Xavier, you must understand that Derek F and Azah are paired with Britini.  Poor Britini has been considered weak by the house but she has won competitions.  She’s also been on the block three times which her team feels isn’t fair.  While Derek F. and Azah had Britini as their shield/pawn, Xavier, the strongest player in the Cookout, had Christian and Alyssa as his shields/pawns.  Christian went home last week.  The funny thing is that Christian realized he was Xavier’s shield.

The Future

So where does that leave The Cookout as nominees are growing tight.  Basically it means that one of them has to go up against their shield to stay.  It’s dawning on Derek F. and Azah that they got the short end of the division as Derek F. is on the block.  (Spoiler:  Claire was up but was taken off the block today by HoH Kyland with a veto.  Alyssa had another veto and is Xavier’s shield.  Xavier wouldn’t let her go up this week without a struggle.)  Tiffany got Claire back.  Because of Derek X.’s record, they want to wait for a Double Eviction to take him out.  .  That leaves Britini and, if the exit goes as planned, she will go and leave Derek F. and Azah without a shield.

Is this fair?  Of course not.  Of The Cookout, the only ones who have really done any damage to the other house guests are Xavier and Kyland.  Xavier has been HoH once and Kyland twice.  While Tiffany thinks she is the “brains” and the Janelle of this season, she hasn’t won anything and has proceeded to cause frissons in the alliance.  Derek X. is catching on and questioning.  I could spoil more on him but won’t.  Azah has lost trust in Tiffany.  Derek F. now realizes that he’ll probably be the first to go of the Alliance.  While Xavier has tried to mend fences, he is unwilling to give up his pawn.  For everything he does, Tiffany opens her mouth and causes problems.  Sorry Tiffany, you are not the next Janelle.  The house guests outside of the key group (Sarah Beth, Claire and even Britini) felt their friendships/alliances with their partner will keep them safe.

So what could prevent The Cookout from having a member win the season.  The High Roller’s game hasn’t worked so far.  In fact, Kyland made sure that the second veto came into play (again no spoiler with this).  Below is how it could be prevented.

Derek X. continues to win.  He’s figured out much but he doesn’t know that he’s Hannah’s shield.  If he can only put the other chess pieces on the board in the appropriate order, he could play a statistical game and make it to the end. If he can align with a disgusted Azah and whoever is left at the end of the week, a new alliance is born.

Claire needs to realize that it is not teams any longer.  She seems to be seeing beyond Tiffany as a cohort and to the adversary role but hasn’t been willing to let go of the Royal Flush.  She’s been a floater up until recently when she showed she could win comps.  Can she shake off the stardust and realize that Tiffany is bad for her game?  Better yet, can she do something about it?

Sarah B. has lost her “intelligence” and gone to the sunglasses game.   She always appears wrapped in a blanket and clueless.  Kyland makes their decisions.  Her biggest wish is that Derek F. will go.  Can she convince enough of The Cookout to do this?

Alyssa thinks she is safe with Xavier as her partner.  Well, Christian wasn’t that safe!  The veto gave her a certain amount of power but Xavier will cut her if he has to do it.  I look for it to be a fight between Tiffany and Xavier to save their shield/pawn to the end.

Which brings us to the Britini angle.  Most fans think she’s on the way out the door.  Some house guests see her as being too popular as she did get the “big bucks” in the high roller game from America.  If Derek F. survives the week, he knows where he stands but feels he won’t have the physical strength or “smarts” to stay.  Azah plays too emotional and she and Tiffany are at odds.  Will this split them from the main group to form a new alliance with Derek X.?

So, while the chances look good for one of The Cookout to win, I do have the hope that Derek X. can play the spoiler.  He has both the knowledge of how to win and the competitiveness to win.  We still have some weeks to go and I may adjust this later.  I see fights coming between members of The Cookout.  Tiffany and Xavier think they have this game in the bag but Hannah is a quiet player and smarter than they think.  Kyland has a big problem with perception and is making his alliance mad due to the excessive overthinking of the game and relationship with Sarah Beth.

What do you think?  Will The Cookout survive?

I hope the cookout breaks up and they have to scramble...it would be great if Derek X figured it out and was able to do some damage to them. Whatever happens, it will be interesting for sure. (I have nothing against the cookout alliance, I just like the drama)!

The post has some upset on Twitter.  One found a way to prevent me from posting for 7 days.  No biggie really.  I find the majority of people there somewhat petty.  If they don't like a post like this, they get you put in time out for something else.

Big Brother #23:  And Leland’s Confusing Reign Continues (8/18/21)

The one thing about Big Brother 23 this year is that it has been fun.  Viewers never know what to expect.  Even better, Big Brother “Live Feeders” often seem confused.  Of course, it’s not really anything the house guests are doing.  All this is coming from the top!  Kyland is causing the confusion.  He can turn a meeting into a lesson in words, words, and more words.  From what I saw on live feeds yesterday, he should be the lawyer because his meetings made little sense.  While confusing, it is fun to watch because no one knows what he means.  In other news, it looks like The Cookout is still in control but for how long? There are cracks developing and questions being asked.

After Nominations

After nominations, viewers often see Big Brother house guests in tears.  This year, there hasn’t been many tears but the scheming starts immediately.  With Derek F. and Claire on the hot seats, will Derek F. need to campaign?  Will Claire buy a clue or turn to her trusted ally, Tiffany.  Britini was breathing a sigh of relief since she isn’t on the block.  Britini, don’t trust your luck!  This is Big Brother and no one knows what will happen.

With the reveal of the “HIgh Roller” twist, Leland feels even more safe with the nominees.  Hey!  How can he get blood on his hands with this twist, right?  Claire, in Diary Room, feels confident because her bet could give her the second veto.  Derek F. wants to bet on the right person so he will be safe.

Britini goes to talk to Kyland about being a target and we get the Kyland double talk game starting.  With Britini, he says something that she takes as being a guarantee of safety and he shakes on it.  With Derek F., Kyland says he wants to control the Power of Veto.  Derek F. understands but we know from Diary Room that Kyland doesn’t want to lose either Sarah B. or Derek X. (for some reason).  Derek F. has doubts already.  Here’s another possible Joker plot exit and he doubts his fellow Cookout members’ loyalty.  Derek F. has another problem.  Going up as a pawn, he has to figure out a new way to keep his secret from Azah and Britini.

When Tiffany meets with Kyland, she’s upset because Claire’s on the block.  Her brain starts churning to figure out a way to get Claire safe.  .  I think Tiffany would send Derek F., a fellow member out, to keep her shield safe.  Kyland tells Tiffany about Claire’s target plan of The Cookout. Tiffany, in Diary Room, tells us that she must convince Kyland that what Claire says is not what she means.  Well, if anyone can give double talk back to Kyland, she can.  Kyland tells us that Tiff pushes back on Claire and wants Britini or Alyssa up.

Power of Veto Competition

It’s time to pick players, and Leland draws Alyssa.  Alyssa is happy since they took her boyfriend out last week.  Claire picks Azah.  Derek F. picks house guest choice and chooses Britini.  Derek F. and Britini see this as an opportunity to save all three Jokers.  I wish they’d move past the “team” mentality and Derek F. realize the pecking order.

Kyland says they can place bets and chose someone to win.  Kyland announces that there is a clue about the veto – veto spelled backwards. Everyone knows that means OTEV.  In the bets, Kyland chooses Alyssa.  Derek F. chooses Britini.  Claire chooses Kyland. Sarah B. chooses Azah.  Derek X. really wanted to play OTEV and is upset that he was not chosen.

The OTEV course looks like a lagoon and OTEV is a jellyfish that sounds like Arnold Schwarzenegger.  First Sharon Osborne and now Arnold?  What gives this year with these voices.  Participants must answer his questions and bring him the jelly with the correct jelly name on it.  Once they find the answer, they must climb the slippy hill to return it to OTEV.  Last one or incorrect answer is out.  Where Claire and Derek F. hope the veto saves them, Kyland plans otherwise.  He wants control of all the power.  First out is Derek F. followed by Azah, Britini, and Claire.  It’s down to Alyssa and Kyland but Kyland can control Alyssa’s decision.  He lets Alyssa win the Power of Veto taking the second for himself.  Kyland will save Claire to gain her trust (or brownie points).  It would be so nice if people actually played the game.  The throwing of comps is bad this year.  First Azah gives the answer to Britini and then Kyland cheats.

Post POV Competition

Kyland celebrates with Sarah B. but she tells us in Diary Room that she’d be glad if Britini leaves.  Kyland, Xavier and Derek F. talk and Kyland says Britini is the only choice which upsets Derek F.  For some reason Kyland wants Derek X. left even though he is a great competitor.  Sarah Beth is Kyland’s shield.  Is there really any question of who is going up?  Britini draws the short straw.

Before the ceremony, Kyland talks to Sarah B and let’s her know what is going on.  Sarah B. has lost her smarts as she goes out, tells Britini for Kyland, and offers support.  Does that sooth Britini.  Of course not and she goes off to confront Kyland (who hides).  Kyland tells her he has no other choice.  He feels people will vote Derek F. out.  Britini walks away upset, mad and vengeful.  She is mad because he lied.  Kyland made the agreement and lies about what he said.  Well, he is the king of double talk.  During the conversation, Kyland shows no remorse but assures her that he doesn’t care if Derek F. leaves.  You know, as a long-time viewer, I would have caught on with his body language.

Britini leaves upset and in diary room talks a little about the deal.  Could Kyland be regretting what he said?  He says in Diary Room that were there other options like Derek x.  Does he actually feel remorse?  Britini tells us she will not be silent.  I think, if she goes, a bitter juror will be born and I’m not sure Dr. Will can change her mind.

By the way, I know what happens but won’t spill.  You will have to turn in tomorrow to see if:  Claire gets Derek F. out; Britini pours on the guilt and stays; or The Cookout remains safe for another week!

I have put Sarah Beth and Claire in the "annoying me category."  What have they done but won one competition each.  And Sarah Beth is supposed to be smart and a LGBT member.  If so, why the attraction to Ky.  She's lying all over him and turning the relationship into borderline showmance.  As for Claire, her arrogance is linked to Tiffany who could go also in my book.

The one I was unsure about at the start was Derek X.  Now I would love to see him win.

“Big Brother” #23 – Which Joker Will Remain (8/19/21)

Last night on Big Brother, I would have guessed it was Derek F. staying.  But as the day progressed, I saw Claire and Sarah B. more and more wanting him gone and speaking openly to Tiffany and Derek X. about their wishes.  I’m not sure what they have against Derek F. but this is Big Brother and sometimes the one who does the cleaning must go.  They can beat Derek F. at HoH competitions.  Britini staying would give them another lady in the house, but she’s already headed toward “bitter juror” and it would only get worse.  So tonight, I go in wondering if it will fall to the HoH to give the final vote (for a welcome change).  Oh, right!  That’s Kyland and the network needs to end the show by 9:00 P. M.

POV Ceremony and Aftermath

Julie Chen Moonves opens the show tonight with the announcement that emotions are high and two vetoes are in play.  We go straight to recaps and we see just how Tiffany can manipulate Kyland.  I had forgotten she can use words just as cleverly as he can.  Oh, and the new HoH will be crowned live on “Big Brother!”

Julie tells us that chaos erupted as the veto meeting started.  We given the Power of Veto meeting.  Both the holders of Power of Veto are standing and make the decisions.  Kyland will use the Veto on Claire.  Tiffany silent rejoices while Brit starts breaking down.  Britini is told to take the chair.  Alyssa does not use the Power of Veto so that is over.

After the ceremony, Britini is mad.  Alyssa says that everyone is against her anyway and Derek X. could have gone up.  Derek F. is upset because it is Britini.  Claire is upset because she was up and isn’t forgetting that Kyland did it.  Kyland thinks that Derek F. will stay no matter what but that’s without thinking about Claire, Derek X. and Sarah B.  As Britini cries in Derek F. arms, in Diary Room she goes off on Kyland.  I guess when they have the house guests back in to destroy the house, she’ll go for his stuff.  Britini is sick of being a nominee.  It hurts both Derek F. and Azah to see her like this.

Upstairs, Tiffany and Claire and talking in the HoH room.  Claire wants Derek F. gone because she feels all will carry him to the end for an easy win.  Tiffany, in Diary Room, tells us that as a member of The Cook-Out, Derek F. can’t leave.  Hannah works on Derek X. trying to keep Derek F. but Derek X., in Diary Room, tells us that Britini would take a shot at Kyland or others that he wants out. Later Claire and Derek X. talk but they count Hannah in with their number of a team.  The problem is that they have Tiffany listening to the talk.  You know Claire is really a bitter person at being on the block.  What did she expect of Big Brother.  Tiffany isn’t on the same page and Claire may have to go sooner than later.

The Cookout has decisions to make.  Tiffany tells Xavier that Claire and Derek X. wants Derek F. gone.  In Diary Room, Tiffany tells us that “for the sake of the Cook-Out,” she’ll get rid of either Claire or Derek X.  Tiffany has to tell Xavier also about Derek X.’s questioning the pairs and possibly the group of six.  Xavier assures her that he will lie to Derek X. if he must.  Later, Xavier tells Kyland that Derek X. is the biggest threat.  They meet with Derek X. and try to form an alliance as the three strongest players.  Derek X. immediately runs and tells Claire about the discussion.  Claire isn’t happy and thinks they’re playing Derek X.  She knows you have to lie to people in Big Brother.  Everyone says something for a reason.  Claire sees Xavier and Kyland taking a shot at both of them.

The Live Vote and Eviction

Julie joins the house guests in the Living Room (whoops they are dressed for a physical competition).  Britini asks to stay via rap and don’t ask me to what she’s saying except she will help their game if they let her stay.  Derek F. thanks God and his mother and a long list of friends.  He then asks to be kept for fixing food, laughter and cleaning.  The house guests start the live voting with Xavier first.  The votes are coming in but wait.  Azah votes for Derek F. while Claire changes her vote.  Britini leaves for jury on a vote of seven to one but Julie fools them by telling Big D that he is safe before telling Britini she is gone.  With hugs she goes to meet Julie.  Wow did Kyland give Derek F. a big kiss?  Azah is being comforted by Derek X. and later by Tiffany and Alyssa.

Julie tells Britini that she was on the block four of six weeks.  Britini is going to the jury because she could have won with her story in the final two.  She’s okay with going to the Jury House.  America voted her the highest of amount of HoH bucks.  Julie wants to know why she didn’t play in the High Roller Game.  Brit thought she’d be okay this week so she saved her bucks.  Julie asks who she feels betrayed by and she quickly says Clare and Tiff.  She realizes that it is a game and no one wanted to show their cards.  She wants to see how it plays out.

Azah tells her that she tried to keep her.  Xavier talks about the blind sides and wants to be friends.  Claire was looking at it from an individual’s perspective, but her group didn’t see it.  Derek F. tells her that she is special in every possible way.  She cries on that one.  Julie wants to know what the best thing about her experience is.  Brit saying be there and talking to Julie.  Julie did not tell her about cook-out.

HOH Competition

Oh, it’s the balancing game.  This should be good!  The house guests are told that the power is up for grabs.  The game is called “Dash for Dinner.”  One at the time, each must navigate the balance beams to get to dinner.  All beams are not the same size.  They are doing it individually on the clock.  If the clock expires, they are eliminated.  Claire is first and the rest must wait behind a wall.  She switched between wide and small and did it in 34.97.  Alyssa fell as she buzzed in and is eliminated.  She’s followed by Derek F. and Sarah Beth.  Sarah Beth does beat Claire’s time with 21.03.  Azah, Hannah, Tiffany, Derek X. and Xavier all lose to Sarah Beth’s time.  Sarah Beth is the new HoH and the Cookout should be worried.  We should be glad because the action should be great this week.

Julie tells us that High Roller’s Room with Chopping Block as the game.  They can seize power by collecting BB Bucks and playing the game.  We can vote again this week with the same prizes as last week.  Vote by texting name to 97979 tonight!

Will Sarah Beth nominate Derek F.?  Who else will be up?  Will anyone play for a chance to make everyone vulnerable?  Who will Sarah Beth’s nominees really be?

Big Brother #23:  Sarah B.’s HOH (or Is It?) (8/22/21)
Big Brother fans!  How many of you thought you’d see a Sarah B.’s HoH?  After all, she seemed to sleep through the first half of the season or do nothing but talk to Kyland.  Sarah Beth also though that the teams would be together to the end.  To that end, Big Brother encouraged friendships and internal alliances between teams and she has thoughts that she helped with Kyland’s HoH last week.  Now will Kyland turn her HoH into Kyland’s second HoH in a row?
HoH Fall-Out
Of course, we get the usual reminder that the Cookout is controlling the game.  Xavier wants Derek X. out for personal reasons and finds out that Derek F. is Derek X.’s target.  We also are reminded that Derek X. lost by one second (could the clock be off – again?).  Don’t ask about the clock?  Big Brother doesn’t cheat.
Sarah Beth celebrates and says this will change her game (game, what game?).  Derek F. is happy that he is staying and got to kiss Kyland.  Derek F. is tired of being a pawn and sounds like he is doubting the Cookout.  As the Sarah B.’s celebration continues in the Storage Room with Kyland, I am beginning to question what her partner outside the house is thinking about their interaction.  The Storage Room pair discuss the nominees and Kyland wants Claire or Derek X. out for personal reasons.
Azah is upset that Britini is out of the game and TIffany spends time with her to get Azah’s head in the game.  They too are discussing nominees.  Tiffany, in Diary Room, is upset that Sarah B. won.  She was the last person that Tiffany wanted to win.  Tiffany tells us that “she’s not going on the block.”  Meanwhile, Xavier and Derek F. talk.  Derek F. is tired of the game and being a pawn.  He sees Derek X. as never being in danger.  Kyland comes in and tells them to trust him.  Derek F. is worried about his mental state and Xavier has to keep the Cookout together.  Derek X. is upset that he didn’t win.  Wait, Sarah B. is changing into dressy clothes for her HoH reveal?  Who does that?
And the talks continue.  Alyssa and Derek X. are talking about the High Roller’s Room.  She wants to win the Ch”Chopping Block” and spin the wheel to ensure safety.  Derek F. and Tiffany get into a verbal fight. Derek F. needs to lookout for the Cookout and is trying to keep things good with Tiffany.  It seems that Derek F. said something that Tiffany thought was disrespectful during the week and she’s been stewing about it.  Derek F. and Tiffany start in the bathroom and takes it to the Storage Room.  Derek F. thinks he grew up like Tiffany.  She tells him no and that he came at her in the wrong way.  She talks down to Derek F. and she sees Derek F. as trying to intimidate her.  So, let’s see if I have this right.  Tiffany has problems with Derek F. but he can’t have problems with her?  When did that happen?  She feels she doesn’t owe him anything if he doesn’t have respect for her in the house.  I understand where she’s coming from but RESPECT is a two way street.
Sarah B. starts searching for nominees.  Her main question is:  Will you play the High Roller’s game?  She doesn’t get the answers she wants as both Derek’s don’t plan to play.  Sarah B. is worried about next week’s power.  She is smart enough to realize that she’s vulnerable!  Sarah B. is happy to finally have power though so she goes on the hunt for pawns.
Derek X. starts overanalyzing the .  He’s questioning Tiffany’s thought process and loyalty to them.  He also thinks that there is a group working together (little does he know).  Meanwhile, Azah and Derek F. feel that Sarah B. is going on a “reign of terror.”  Azah has no idea of where Sarah B,’s head is in the game.  Azah tells Britini she may be out next and seems to break down.  Wait, she’s acting.  Never saw this side of her before.
Later, Sarah B. is looking at the wall.  She thinking Xavier because he’s a big threat.  Kyland knows he has to go slow to get to the target being Derek X., the Cookout’s target.  Kyland starts talking to Sarah B. about putting up Derek X.  Kyland suggests keeping him for a blindside as long as he doesn’t play veto.  I wish she’d take those sunglasses off.  It hides her eyes.  Sarah B. knows she needs to keep her options open.  Two pawns must go up.  (By the way, the show seems very slow tonight.  I guess it is because the HoH and her “partner” love of discussion.
Nominations
It’s time for nominations and the usual spill is done.  Sarah B. turns the keys to reveal Derek F. and Claire.  Sarah tells them that it makes it less complicated due to the Chopping Block.  What a ridiculous reason but that’s Sarah B.’s claim.   Kyland will do his best to get Derek F. off the chopping block.  What I don’t understand is why Sarah B. stops at every mirror she sees this week?
Tiffany gives Claire a pep talk.  Tiffany doesn’t have the BB Bucks to help.  She doesn’t want to see Claire go but it may be all that can be done.  Meanwhile Hannah and Derek X. scheme.  Hannah doesn’t want him gone but she knows that to keep the Cookout together, it may be necessary.  Derek X. wants to keep the BB Bucks to get next week’s prize.  He doesn’t want to play this week but how can he guarantee he will be here next week.
High Roller’s Game
This week, the amounts are:
$100 – Claire, Derek F. and Derek X.  None will use their money.  Claire does not have enough money to play.
$75 – Hannah, Xavier (both who are at $150), and Alyssa.  Alyssa will play.
$50 – Azah, Sarah B., Tiffany, and Kyland.  None of them have enough to play.
Before Derek X. makes a decision, he talks to Kyland.  Derek X. is smart but evidently he doesn’t have common sense.  If you could be a target, would you talk to the one person who is in Sarah B.’s ear.
“The Chopping Block” is a game of balance and skill.  Alyssa stands on the roulette wheel and must cause the wheel to spin around as many times as possible in two minutes.  The only player, of course, Alyssa wins and decides that she doesn’t want Derek F. to be a pawn so off he comes.  Sarah B. asks Alyssa to bring out a roulette wheel.  The wheel has all the eligible people left listed around its side.  Where the ball lands is the nominee.  All watch the spinning ball nervously.  The spin lands on Xavier who must take the chair beside Claire.
Alyssa is upset that she played the game.  Her only ally is up on the block.  Claire thinks she is next to a threat and she plans to win the veto.  Xavier will not back off a challenge.  He will win the Veto and others will have to go through him to get it.  Sarah B. now feels some fear as Xavier is up but Derek X. is still safe.  This could lead to her nomination next week.
Turn in Wednesday for the Power of Veto game.  What will it be?  Will Xavier be safe?

Big Brother #23:  Sarah Beth’s Is Awake and Queen

Big Brother finally has Sarah Beth in motion.  After weeks of just sitting around, wrapped in a blanket or hoodie, with sunglasses, we get to see her face.  She takes the time to use make-up.  I’m kidding but the win made her a different person.  It didn’t make her wise up though.  She became Kyland’s stooge and the means to an end.  Kyland has targets and used Sarah to achieve his ends through her nominations and the use of the “High Rollers” room.  So how will the Power of Veto go.  Patience, my friends and watch!

Scheming before the Power of Veto

After the usual recap, we get down to business. Sarah reminds us that the “Chopping Block” power was used.  Xavier is on the block and Alyssa is upset because Xavier looks out for her (little does she know, she’s his pawn).  Xavier was hoping not to be nominated at all this season but now he is due to her closest ally and the “rolling of a ball.”  Sorry for that pun.  No matter what I said, it would come out bad.  Claire is upset that Xavier is up.  Sarah is ectastic because she can get Derek X. out.  Derek X. now wishes he had played but in the “High Roller” game instead of saving his money.  As Alyssa cries, Xavier assures her it wasn’t her fault. Xavier tries to make her feel better by saying he’s against Claire

Claire meets with Sarah about the situation but she’s nott Sarah’s target.  Unfortunately, Sarah can’t tell her who the real target is (Derek X.).  Claire believes Sarah but isn’t dumb.  Xavier is on the same team as Sarah and Kyland and she are closes, that leaves Derek X.  How many times do I have to say there are no teams anymore.  Get your act together and figure out The Cookout!   So what does Claire do?  She runs and tells Derek X. her theory and he’s upset.  He knows he is the target now.  With Tiffany involved, the discussion turns to other scenarios, Tiffany wants Derek X. off the block as he can do her dirty work for her.  Tiffany needs his protection because she hasn’t been on the block yet due to protection.  Another team player but for Tiffany, which team is she really on?

Claire tells Derek X. her theory and that she thinks they want him up.  Derek X. is upset and between the two, he knows he is the target.  Now Tiffany gets involved.  They discuss the scenario with her.  Tiffany is not happy because if he leaves, he won’t be there to protect her.

It’s time for more HoH Room meetings.  Alyssa and Sarah talk.  Of course, Sarah mentions Derek X. as the target and Alyssa hopes he does go up.  After all, he took Christian out.  Sarah sees herself as helping Alyssa and knows they need to keep Derek X. from playing in the veto.  Derek X. goes up to meet with Sarah to find out if he’s the target.  He’s playing the pity game and what I can do for you.  Sarah tells him that she has options and must wait to see what happens.  Derek X. doesn’t understand why he is a target and says he hasn’t done anything.  Well, you did win HoH and take Christian out and you have won several competitions.  You have played the“target” game against the Jokers!  I know that’s game but it is something.  Derek X. knows his game is on the line and he must make the draw for the veto.  He then turns to Hannah and talks things through with her.  Their friendship makes it hard for Hannah to stick to the Cookout’s plan and she will do what she can to keep Derek X. off the block.

Power of Veto

It’s time to pick the players for veto.   Sarah, Claire and Xavier draw players.  Those joining in the game are Azah (who wants to take Xavier down), Derek F., Alyssa (Xavier’s pick and the one he wanted).  Derek X. knows he’s in trouble.  Later in the bathroom, Claire and Derek X. are both worried about the veto.  Claire finally breaks down in tears in the Diary Room while he sheds a few in the bathroom.

The backyard is the domino game set up like a safari.  The house guests must set up the dominos to win prizes or punishments.  The prizes include BB Bucks, $7500 in cash while the punishments include BB Backruptcy, Strategy Shutdown (solitary confinement for 24 hours), two weeks of slop, and nomination for eviction.  The fastest time wins the prizes.  If you go for prizes, you are ineligible for the Power of Veto.  Alyssa is first and takes the punishment route  (she may be on slop).  She’s followed by Derek who wants the money (because he hasn’t won any games yet).  Sarah takes a prize route and a punishment route (it’s been hinted on feeds she won $500 but it wasn’t shown in on the show).  She’s also upset because the High Roller’s game didn’t giver her complete control so she goes for punishments also.  Xavier is going for all punishments including nomination, BB Bankrupt, and Strategy Shutdown.  Claire goes for the punishments also.  She needs to win to take herself off.

Derek X. is host.  His first announcement is that with the winning time of 15 minutes, 29 seconds, the prizes of $100 BB Bucks, $7500 in cash had been won.  Who won these?  Derek F. of course and while he thinks no one knows, they all do (and upsets Azah and Xavier).  With a time of 3 minutes, 5 seconds, Xavier gets the Golden Power of Veto with the punishments of BB Bankruptcy, Strategy Shutdown, and being the third nominee.  Xavier knows his safety is now secured while Claire cries and is upset.  Claire doesn’t want to be next to Derek X. on Thursday. Sarah meanwhile is happy.  She can put Derek X up and send him to jury.

After Veto Strategy

After the veto, Claire cries in the shower with Derek X. listening and trying to calm her down.  Claire is upset not only about being up but that Derek X. will probably be going up beside her.  Derek X. is feeling guilty because he didn’t play the High Rollers game.  Tiffany then comes in and starts her games.  .  Tiffany tells us that she is in a tough situation.  Worse case for her is that Derek X. goes up.  She is going to figure out a way to keep him off the block because she can’t lose both Claire and Derek X.  (Hey, Tiff!  Volunteer to go up.  My feelings are that everyone should face jury at sometime in the game.)

American Red Cross Party

This year CBS must not be doing the back yard party.  Of course with all the hurricanes, earthquakes, fires, etc., I love that they have partnered with the American Red Cross who always shows up in disasters.  The house guests will donate their time to help the Red Cross by assembling emergency packs.  After Sarah gives the information on the work of the Red Cross, they begin.  Each kit will hold items that are needed in emergencies.  All are glad to be helping.  Tiffany is proud of the job they are doing because of her work in real life.  Kyland gets into the word game but does the message that all should prepare because we cannot be prepared to fail.  Azah is glad to get her mind out of the game and help others.  Group hug at the end.

More Strategizing

After the work party, Tiffany and Derek X. talk.  He tells us that this is the worse week of the summer for him.  He tells Tiffany he’s going to make a pitch to Sarah that he can help keep her in the game.  She suggests trying to get Sarah to put up Hannah as she wanted earlier in the game.  Derek X. doesn’t want this but Tiffany says that’s the best way to keep Derek X. in the hosue.  She doesn’t mind losing Claire to keep Derek X. (to take shots for her).  Derek X. tells us that’s it’s a “hail Mary” but he will take the shot. In his meeting, he tells Sarah that she doesn’t need to take the shot at him and promises her two or three weeks safety.  Don’t promise things like that Derek X!  That’s how you go out.  He does suggest Hannah and Derek X. swears that Hannah will go to jury (home).  Sarah listens and he swears he will never come for her (that’s the object of the game Derek X.).  Sarah tells us that she knows that Hannah’s been throwing competitions and is smarter than she is. For Sarah, who is the bigger threat.

Veto Ceremony

Xavier calls the Veto meeting to order.  He is using the Power of Veto on himself.  He turns the meeting over over to Sarah who must name a new nominee.  Sarah nominates Derek X. She thinks if she doesn’t take the shot it would show a lack of confidence on her part.  Let’s clap for Kyland.  He did his job!

In the Diary Room, Sarah says that Derek X. was an obstacle for her to reach finale.  Claire says it sucks and she can’t go against him because she trusts him the most.  It’s her worse case scenario.  Hannah is in a hard place but Derek X. would make the game hard for her and she can’t play it on a personal level.  (Did she just imply she had feelings for the guy?) Derek X. wipes his eyes.  He knows he has let America down.  If he stays, hell will break lose in the house.  Maybe he shouldn’t go.  We’ve had an interesting season so far.

Tune in tomorrow to see if Derek X. manages to save himself.  Will Claire leave?  Will the Cookout be outed?  Will Tiffany turn on her initial alliance?  It should be a good eviction show!

Big Brother #23 – And Chaos Reigns (8/26/21)

Big Brother loves controversy, but chaos is another matter.  How chaotic can a season of Big Brother get?  Well, with the thinkers/strategists in this house, it has been over-the-top.  Add to that the nomination of Derek X. and we see a new level of crazy.  My question is:  Will it be enough to break up the predominate alliance this year, The Cookout?  Well, only time will tell as Tiffany is upset that Derek X. replaced Xavier on the block.  Could Derek X. be sent to jury or can Tiffany save him?  She’s losing her friend (shield), sniff sniff (plus the one she planned to do her dirty work).

After the Power of Veto

Julie Chen Moonves introduces the show with “no risk, no reward” and says this is true tonight.  I think she’s as clueless as us about what will happen.  After the recap, day 51 is underway.  Can the High Roller’s room cause chaos for one of the nominees?  Julie also mentions that while the Cookout has been running the game, the real question is:  who is running the Cookout? In the Diary Room, Xavier thinks he’s got the game under control as Derek X. is going to jury.  Claire feels it is her best chance of staying and Sarah is ecstatic.  Tiffany, on the other hand, wants to keep Derek X. as Claire has been her patsy.  Hey, don’t blame me.  That’s what Tiffany called her!  There are definitely splits in the Cookout.

Tiffany goes to work on the Cookout girls to get them to keep Derek X.  Tiffany tells them that Derek X. would be a vote for them to stay.  Meanwhile, Hannah goes to tell Xavier what is up and he isn’t happy.  Xavier wants Derek X. to leave and now has questions about Tiffany’s actions.  I figured it would come down to these two!  Later, Xavier talks strategy with Azah to convince her to get rid of Derek X. playing with her feelings for him.  Xavier knows that Tiffany will be the hardest to persuade.  Later it comes to a head with Tiffany, Xavier and Kyland in the kitchen.  After Kyland leaves, Tiffany says that they want Derek X. in jury because he has strong connections to her.  Tiffany won’t let them “guilt trip” her so she’ll go back to her usual mode (guilty tripping them).  I used to like Tifny but the last two weeks she has been getting on my last nerve.  What has she really done in the game to this point?  She tells us in Diary Room that she’s going to convince people to vote to keep Derek X. so she’ll win the game.  My thoughts:  instead of using him for protection, Derek X. should have been a member of the Cookout!

Xavier’s Punishment

Sarah Beth comes out with the Xavier’s punishment.  Xavier will be locked in the “Have Not” room until Julie calls him to vote.  This means Tiffany has a good chance to ruin Xavier’s plan.  Poor Xavier!  His toilet is a tent.  He has water (and I understand PBJ and apples).  As all this unfolds, Tiffany is scheming with Derek X. and telling him to how to play the other house guests.  Tiffany tells him (basically) to play Azah for sympathy points and he uses the chess board.  Derek X. admits that he is counting on Azah, Hannah or Tiffany for a vote to keep him safe.

Derek X. uses the chess board with Azah and he plays the martyr.  She promises to think about it.  My question is does Tiffany and Derek X. not consider that other houses guests will compare notes?  Oh, there comes Derek X.’s tears.  Azah says he needs to go but is it best.

The Eviction Ceremony

The house guests are dressed up and waiting in the living room where there is a slight sound problem.  Julie asks if she can call Derek X. by his nickname, “Baby D.”  She gives each nominee a chance to sway the vote.  Claire does the call outs and asks the house guests to keep her if she can help their individual game.  Oh, again the teams mention.  I’m so over that!  Baby D. thanks his supporters and tells the house guests this will be a chance to change the game.  He can take out the biggest problem in the house while keeping his allies safe.  (Wait, Derek X.  That’s everyone except Xavier.)

The voting starts with Alyssa first.  Xavier, the last to vote, comes out looking like a 1970s disco king.  With a vote of five to two, Derek X. is headed to jury.  Tiffany did change Hannah’s vote (not really). When Julie makes the announcement, Derek X. doesn’t look surprised.  He hugs Claire first and the rest as he leaves.  Tiffany must be steaming but she gives Derek X. something and tells him he had the best personality in the house.  (I agree with that!)  His last goodbye is for Hannah and is sweet.

Julie offers Derek X. a chair and asks if it was a bad week.  He tells her yes.  When asked why he chose not to play in the High Roller’s Room, Derek X. admits he was thinking “long term” and not concerned with this week.  Not being chosen for the Power of Veto didn’t help.  He has no remorse and offers America his love.  He’s also sorry that he let us down, but he tried his best.  When asked about a possible dating situation with Hannah, Derek tells us that both were focused on the game.  He does tell Julie when she asks him to “expect the unexpected.”  Goodbye messages will be online tomorrow.

HoH Competitions

Before we get to the HoH, Julie says that the Big Brother program is so proud of the house guests work.  The show will give $10,000 to the American Red Cross in addition to the bags that the house guests put together.  In addition, CBS asked American to get involved by becoming a “Nation of Doers.”  Go to CBS/American Red Cross to see how to help.

Julie tells us that the house guests had to study the memory wall last night looking for clues to help them win tonight’s HoH.  I believe she called it the BB NFG Coming Soon and featured pictures from this year’s show (so far).

Outside, Julie starts the competition. The game is called “BB NFG”.  All have studied the Memory Wall.  It’s a true or false and (according to live feeds) Tiff and Hannah have a cheating method set up (although I couldn’t tell if they used it).  Extra BB bucks will also be given.  At the end of the game, each will pick an envelope which contains additional BB Bucks of $50 or $100.  They have to wait until the High Rollers room to open them.

The True/False questions are asked.  Xavier, Claire and Azah go out on question one.  Derek F. and Kyland leave on the second question.  Tiffany finally wins her first HoH (and we can expect another chaotic week).

Julie tells us that it’s time for the High Roller’s vote.  Text your vote to award extra amounts to the house guest of your choice.  It looks like maybe Black Jack this week? The top three from the Coin Flip will play.  Text your favorite to 97979.  Vote up to 10 times and must be done tonight.

Back inside Tiffany is asked how it feels to have won.  She’s very proud and happy and looking forward to pictures and letter.  Tiffany says that Sarah Beth started the women winning.  Claire is asked how she feels.  She is happy but sad that Baby D. left.  Julie tells them no “have nots” this week (which usually means endurance competition next week).  Tiffany’s reign though may not be what she wants as it can be upended by the Coin of Destiny.  (I hope she doesn’t become another Chima (from Big Brother 11) who threw a fit (and destroyed a mike) when she lost her HoH power to Jeff.

So, what do you expect this week?  Will Tiffany destroy the Cookout to get to the finals.  Who will she put up and what will her reasoning be?  Who will win the power (Derek F. and Hannah already have the money to play)?  Will it be used to replace noms?  This will be another interesting week.

Big Brother #23:  Will Tiffany Reign Supreme (8/29/21)

The Big Brother house guests have kept us entertained this year.  Whether the crew is out playing each other, trying to schmooze each other, or just seeking to control the game, we have had more entertainment than we have had in many years from this Big Brother crew.  Tiffany claim to fame is founding the Cookout (or so she says) and she hasn’t been happy she hasn’t won.  Well, she remedied that on Thursday night but will it last?  We still have the Coin of Destiny standing in her way.  And for some reason, I don’t think production thought this season would play out this way.

Will HoHitis Show Up?

The one thing you can say about Tiffany is that she likes to manipulate a game.  For the past weeks, she’s been manipulating the person who had the power.  The only HoH she didn’t succeed with is Frenchie and we all know she was instrumental in his departure.  So, with total power will we get major HoHitis.

As the HoH begins Tiffany already has her sights set on the evictee being Sarah Beth.  Sarah Beth did get rid of her pawn, Derek X. on Thursday.  Of course, we get the usual celebration because “I (Tiffany) finally won something in this house.”  In the Storage Room, all the girls celebrate that a woman has won HoH.  Claire thinks she’s totally safe since her ally is HoH.  Kyland is looking for comfort from Derek F. (and I’ll be dropping the F now) and Azah.  Azah thinks Kyland’s behavior is crazy.  In Diary Room he says that Baby D. was his biggest threat.  Be aware, this is long!

So what is happening with the next victim, Sarah Beth.  She is upset over Baby D.’s speech.  In taking to Xavier, she is trying to figure out how to stay off the block.  She thinks she’s in an alliance with Xavier and Alyssa.  Xavier tells us that he doesn’t have power this week and laughs.  The only safe people are the Cookout.  Of course, the Coin of Destiny is mentioned with Sarah Beth hoping for the money to play for it.

Later, Tiffany and Kyland are talking about who to put up.  Tiffany admits to us that she wants Sarah out.  Kyland doesn’t want Alyssa put up next to Sarah Beth.  Kyland says he can’t protect Sarah any longer and feels he can go up safely (or something like that) against her.  By the way, I’m finding myself tuning out when Kyland talks.

Hannah and Tiffany talk.  Both are sad that Baby D. is gone.  Tiffany feels that the Cookout has played for each other.  Hannah, in Diary Room, tells herself to get it together because she feels awful that Baby D. left.  If it wasn’t for the Cookout, Hannah and Baby D. would be a team.  Tiffany tells her it had to be and they hug.  Next is Derek who congratulates her.  She’s talking to him about the anonymous HoH.  Tiffany tells us they might fight like siblings, but they are working together.  Derek tells us he doesn’t trust Tiffany and she would be gone except for the Cookout.

After a short meeting with Tiffany, Sarah tells us that the only way she’d stay is with Coin of Destiny so she’s using that to stay off the block.  Sarah B. there is no way you have the BB Bucks to play.  Baby D. sunk that ship!  Tiffany does tell her that she jeopardized Tiff’s game.  Sarah seems to plan to do anything she can to stay.  Wait until she finds out what America thinks about her.  Later, she throws Alyssa under the bus to Tiffany and loses any respect that Tiffany, Hannah and Claire had for her.

We’re back to the HoH reveal.  I’m not going to worry about details because it is the typical photos and letters.  We haven’t gotten many of these this year.

Nominations

Well, there will be three nominations this week.  Xavier is up due to last week’s Veto competition.  Tiffany nominates Kyland and Sarah.  The reasoning is that the two make a powerful dual and Tiffany made this move for her game.  Tiffany tells us that Sarah Beth is the target and Alyssa will be Tiffany’s next target.  If someone saves Sarah Beth, they become Tiffany’s next target.  Kyland says it makes sense that he’s up but it’s painful to be on the block.  Sarah Beth says she won’t sit next to Kyland.

Sarah Beth does show up to talk to Tiffany after the nomination ceremony.  Tiff blames Kyland as reason she went up and the target.  Sarah Beth was the way Tiff had to get Kyland out.  Tiffany is doing jury management and trying not “to hurt” Sarah Beth.  Sarah Beth is not as dumb as she plays and is worried that Tiffany is lying but she’s hoping that the Coin of Destiny will save her.

High Roller’s Room and the Coin of Destiny

THe High Roller’s room is open.  This week you must have $250 to play the Coin of Destiny.  The winner will force HoH into a coin toss and take over the HoH if they win.  The nominees will change (or not) and the person will not be allowed to win HoH on Thursday.  Everything will be done in secret.  Xavier will remain on the block as it was a punishment.  Tiffany will be safe.  Tiffany tells us that Sarah Beth has to go!  To win, you must get the most coins through a slot in 2 minutes.  The one with the most coins through the slot wins!

Before we go to the money aspect, let’s look at what Tiffany wants to happen.  The only ones who can play seem to be Derek, Hannah, and Claire.  Hannah will not play for the coin and Derek tells Tiffany (basically) that he plans to lose.  I honestly think that if he hadn’t played, Big Brother would have been mad!

Money –
Azah gets $50 from us, $50 envelop so is not eligible.
Xavier get $75 from us, $50 in envelope so is not eligible to play.
Alyssa gets 75 from us, $100 in envelope so in not eligible to play.
Hannah gets 100 from us, $50 in her envelope and choses not to play.
Kyland gets $50 from us, $100 in his envelope so is not eligible to play.
Tiffany gets $100 from us, $50 in envelop so is not eligible to play
Sarah Beth gets $50 from us, $100 in envelope so is not eligible to play
Derek gets $75 from us, $100.  He has $425 (won in PoV) and will play Coin of Destiny.  He throws to lose and tells us: “I tried my best.  It’s all I can do.”  Well, he won’t upset Tiffany.
Claire gets $100 from us and $50 giving her enough to play.  She has trouble getting the coins through the slot but does get three coins in and wins!  She becomes the secret HoH.

Tiffany calls everyone to the dining room.  The results are that someone played and won and so the coin toss must happen.  Tiffany has brought in the coin toss machine.  Tiffany will operate the toss machine to see if she is dethroned.  The crown or BB letters will decide which nominees will go up on the board.  She places the coin in the machine and flips the coin and she is dethroned (by Claire) and the secret HoH is activated.  Tiffany can compete in the next HoH (but Claire can’t).  The new nominees are Kyland and Sarah Beth.  You can see Sarah Beth is upset and the High Roller’s room is closed.

In Diary Room, Sarah Beth tells us that she’s sad and she doesn’t understand why she’s targeted.  Tiffany celebrates being dethroned and is only worried that Sarah Beth will win the PoV.  Claire celebrates that she won.  She takes it for now has a HoH to her credit.

Who will win the veto?  Will it be used?  Can Sarah Beth figure out a way to save herself?  With the house wanting Sarah gone, I don’t think so.

Big Brother History:  Alliances through the Years

When I thought of this piece, I had decided to lay out all the Big Brother alliances since season one.  When I started my research, I found a site called Big Brother Wiki (https://bigbrother.fandom.com/wiki/) that had done a very thorough job of chronicling this history.  I want to thank them and made me limit this piece to famous alliances.  Season one did not have any alliances as the show was so new.  I will not do All-Star years unless something significant is noted.

Let’s begin with the most famous alliance which has been on multiple seasons -- Chill Town.  Chill Town was created by Mike “Boogie” Malin and Dr. Will Kirby.  They were the only two members who clearly knew the game play.  In season two, Boogie and Will used Shannon Dragoo with Krista Stegall, and Justin Sebik (who was expelled for threatening to kill Krista).  Chill Town would show up again during the first Big Brother All-Star season (Season 7) with Will and Boogie working with Jase Wirey, Janelle Pierzina, and Erika Landin.  Season two saw Will win while Mike “Boogie” won season 7.  Today, their friendship is no more as Will has a restraining order (and other court cases) against Boogie.  Chill Town resurfaced when Coach Boogie recruited Frank Eudy in Season 14.  Boogie was a coach and with Frank started a new version with Britney Haynes, Dan Ghressling, Danielle Murphee, and Shane Meaney.  Ian spoiled the season for Dan.  So no Chill Town member won season 14

Season Five saw two big alliances that featured biological siblings of Mike Ellis and Nakomis Dedmon.  The Four Horsemen, consisted of Drew Danie, Jase Wirey, Michael Ellis and Scott Long and had the eventual winner, Drew.  The Pinky Swear Alliance  worked against the Four Horsemen with some success.  It consisted of Nakamis Dedmon, Adria Klein, Diane Henry, Karen Ganci, Natalie Carroll and Will Wikle.  While the Horsemen thought they ran the game, The Pinky Swear started the infamous backdoor.

We’ve heard of several people during several years using the term “friendship.” Big Brother had its first Friendship in Season 6.  Consisting of Maggie Ausburn, Ivette Corredero, April Lewis, Beau Beasley, Eric Littmann, and Jennifer Vasquez, they were a powerful force in the house.  The counter group, The Sovereign Six, consisted of Janelle Pierzina, Howie Gordon, Rachel Plencner, Kaysar Ridha, James Rhine and Sarah Hreisa.  Many of Sovereign Six would play as S6 in All-Stars.  Maggie Ausburn of Friendship was the eventual winner of the season.

Season Eight (the season of Evel Dick) saw The Late Night Crew (LNC).  This dominant alliance included Dick Donato, Danielle Donato, Amber Sivavus, Dustin Erikstrup, Eric Stein, Jameka Cameron and Jessica Hughbanks.  Dick, as Danielle estranged father, stated multiple times during the season that he wanted Danielle to win.  LMC would eventually turn on each other leading to accusations and the infamous cigarette/burn fight.  When Evel Dick found himself on the block with Danielle, he won POV and took Danielle off.  Dustin went up, assured he would be safe, only to have Dick sway the votes with America’s Player, Eric, voting to please the audience.  Evel Dick would be the winner of season eight.

I hate to mention the Writer’s Strike Winter season because it was one of the worse every shown on television.  Team Christ was the major alliance and consisted of Natalie Cunial, Sheila Kennedy, Ryan Quicksall and Adam Jasinki.  All members of the group made it to the final five with Adam winning on a six to one vote.

The Renegades was an alliance formed with Dan Gheeling, Memphis Garrett, LIbra Thompson, Renny Martyn, and Keesh Smith during season 10.  Dan served as America’s player for one week and completed his tasks.  He also ended up winning the season and becoming an author and commentator.

Season 11 is the season of the unnamed alliance.  The season started with four groups (Athletes, Populars, Brains and Off-Beats) and the return of Jessie Godderz (Mr. Pectacular).  It was also one of the most controversial as Jessie would form an alliance of Natalie Martinez, Kevin Campbell, Lydia Travera, and Chima Simone.  While never having an official name, the players did control much of the action of the game with their plans to take out the rest.  This lasted until America awarded Jeff Schneider the coup d’etat and he used it during Chima’s HoH.  At that point, the power shifted, and Jessie was put on the block.  With Jessie’s eviction, the drama wasn’t over as his parnters (in crime) held a wake and Chima refused to play the game.  She threw her mike into the pool and was evicted.  America would cast the final vote.  While Natalie was sitting beside Jordan Lloyd in the finals, Jordan won the house vote denying this team a win.

Season Twelve saw The Brigade (Bragade) as the domiant alliance.  Consisting of Enzo Palumbo, Matt Hoffman, Lane Elenburg, and, in her mind, Britney Haynes, the group would turn on member, Matt, who was considered a threat.  Hayden, Lane and Enzo would go to the final three.  The winner of this season was Hayden.  Considered one of the greatest alliance of the show’s history (due to their dominance), the final three also, to me, made it boring for viewers as there was no action in the last week.

Season 11 of Big Brother saw the emergence of The Newbies (those who had never played) which formed when the executive producers introduced former players called the Dynamic Duos (The Vets).  The Newbies up of Cassie Calvin, Porsche Briggs, Lawton Exum, Dominic Briones, Shelly Moore, Keith Henderson, Kalia Booker and Adam Poch.  This group did not last throughout the game with The Regulators forming with Cassie, Dominic Kei,th and Lawton defecting from the original group.  Meanwhile, the Dynamic Duos (Dick Donato, Danielle Donato, Jeff Schneider, Jordan Lloyd, Rachel Riley, and Brendon Villegas) were put at a disadvantage near the start of the competition when Dick had to leave for health reasons.  Rachel from the Dynamic Duos would win but Porsche Briggs also took the second  place prize.

The most remembered alliance of Big Brother 14 was The Quack Pack.  Known for their signal “quack,” the team was made up of Dan Gheesling, Britney Haynes, Ian Terry, Danielle Murphee, and Shane Meaney.  Dan thought he was in control of the game but came in second to fellow alliance member, Ian.

The alliances of Season 15 are not as memorable to me.  3 A. M. consisted of Aaryn Gries, Amanda Zuckerman, Andy Herren and McCrae Olson.  Both Aaryn and Amanda had negative press due to racial comments made in the house.  And speaking of the house, Area 51 (or The House Alliance) was formed by almost the entire house.  The season’s winner would be Andy Herron, a member of 3 A. M.

Season 16 of Big Brother saw The Bomb Squad emerge.  The mastermind of this group, Derek Levasseur, would be the winner of the season.  He was joined in the group by Amber Borzotra, Caleb Reynolds, Christine Brecht, Cody Calafiore, Devin Shepherd, Frankie Grande (brother of singer Arianna), and Zach Rosen.  Marred by Caleb infatuation with Amber and Zach’s strange actions, Derek was kept on his toes.  Frankie, his second in command, would be the eyes for Derek as he could move throughout the house as everyone’s friend.  Due to the Bomb Squad’s success, other groups like the Crazy Eights have dimmed.  This season also saw Team America with Joey Van Pelt (who left early in the game, Frankie Grande, Derrick Levesque, and Donny Thompson.  Donny, who was America’s Favorite Player, was sabotaged by Frankie Grande with Derrick’s help.  Derrick and Frankie were told that as the surviving members of Team America the one who made it to the end would win an additional $50,000.  Derek Levesque would go on to win $550,000.

Big Brother 17 saw the rise of Sixth Sense which had as it’s members Austin Matelson, Clay Honeycutt, Julia Nolan, Liz Nolan, Shellie Poole, Vanessa Russo (professional poker player), with affiliates of John McCrae and Steve Moses.  While Vanessa did the planning, Austin was supposed to win comps.  Vanessa had to use her poker skills to stay the course of the season but in the end, Steve Moses won the season.

Season 18 saw Nicole Franzel make her mark. Joined by Cory Brooks, Da’Vonne Rogers, Frank Eudy, James Hurling, Michelle Meyer, Tiffany Rousso, Zakiyah Everette, Paul Abrahamian, and Paulie Calafiore, the group was dominant picking off the rest of the house guest.  Paul would try to control the game and would sit next to Nicole who would become the winner of Season 18.

Season 19 was highlighted by Paul Abrahamian and his friendship bracelets return.  A member of The Team (unoffical name given by member Cody Nickson), the group consisted of Cody (and his showmance) Jessica Graf, RavemnWalton (and her showmance), Matt Clines, Mark Jansen (and his showmance), Elena Davies, Christmas Abbott, Dominique Cooper, Alex Ow, Josh Martinez, and Kevin Schlehuber. Paul played the game by trying to build friendship with others but Cody caught on quickly.  This group would splinter.  When it came down to the final two, Paul set next to Josh who he thought had no chance of winning due to his antics.  Paul was handed his second loss when Josh was named the winner.

Season 20 saw Level Six in control.  The alliance members were Angela Rummans, Tyler Crispin, Winston Hines, Kaycee Clark, Rachel Swindler, Kaycee Clark, Brett Robnson, J. C. Moundeux, Kaitlyn Herman, Sam Bledsoe.  While Kaitlyn went out due to an inability of put a easy puzzle together, it would be lifeguard Tyler who would read the house accurately.  Unfortunately, his reading wasn’t very accurate as he came in second to fellow alliance member Kaycee Clark.

Season 21 had Unde9able as the dominant and most controversial team in Big Brother history.  It’s members included Analyse Talquera, Christine Murphy, Holly Allen, Isabella Wang, Jack Matthews, Jackson Michie, Nick Maccarone, Sam Smith, Monny Braco, and Kathryn Dunn.  This alliance was dominant but also controversial.   Two members, Jack and Jackson (Michie) were told to watch their speech as both made racial comments.  When Jack left the game, he was called out on stage by Julie Chen Moonves and he apologized saying he wasn’t that type of person.  Jackson, after being warned, seemed to pull away from the group with his showmance, Holly.  The eventual winner, Jack was faced with questions about his statements on the final show before winning the prize.  His stunned look on the stage wasn’t about winning but having his statements brought home to him.

Season 22 seemed to be the season of “friendship” since it was an all-stars season.  I am not going to mention any alliances here because according to Twitterverse, the game was decided prior to contestants entering the house.

Season 23, the present season, was hurt from the start by the team concept of Aces, Kings, Queens, and Jokers.  Most house guests thought that those teams would get them to the finale.  While Frenchie started The Slaughterhouse (and its sub-alliance of The Butchers) and Royal Flush developed out of a combination of Kings, Queens, and one Ace member, it has been The Cookout that has run the game.  The first season with a strong POC cast, they quickly formed together with Azah Awasum, Derek Frazier (son of boxer, Joe Frazier), Hannah Chaddha, Kyland Young, Tiffany Mitchell, and Xavier Prather to keep the crew together until the final six.  To do this, they paired up with someone from their “card” team.  At present, this group is running the game as they have slowly but surely picked off everyone else.  Can they keep it together to win?  We have a few weeks before we  know.

So did I leave any big alliances out?  Did I get your favorites?  There are been so many in the history of the show, I’m bound to have missed a few.

Big Brother #23 – Secret (Really) HoH

Well Big Brother fans!  It’s another Wednesday night and what can we expect.  Tiffany lost her HoH power.  Kyland, Sarah and Xavier are on the block.  Will the Power of Veto be used to save one of them?  Can the Cookout continue their path to final six?  So far, it looks like they may.  But what does the future hold?  And are they ready for what the POV game is tonight?

Pre-Power of Veto

Tonight’s Power of Veto is going to be interesting.  Will they allow seven people to play or will the HoH sit the game out?  Oh, that’s right they have a secret HoH now.  Can Xavier be teamed with someone?  And we are off.

After the recap, we move into the program.  Tiffany is okay she lost the HoH room and she knows Claire had to be the one who won.  She also knows that Claire wants Sarah out as  much as she does.  Claire likes being the secret HoH.  She left nominations as Tiffany had them because it made sense.  Later Tiffany talks to Kyland about the nominations and he tells us that – whatever (sorry, I zone out when Kyland mumbles).  Xavier feels okay with the competition and results.  Sarah meanwhile knows her game is in trouble.  She hates for Kyland to leave but it can’t be Sarah Beth!  (Why not?  The object is to get everyone out.

Tiffany goes up to move her “stuff” with Hannah and Claire comes up.  Tiffany doesn’t want anyone in Claire’s ear so she and Hannah will have to keep Claire close because they figure she has the power.  Claire wants credit and so I have to wonder if she’ll tell the rest of the house.

Kyland finds Sarah Beth upset in the bedroom.  She thinks him that both of them are unlikeable (oh, really).  Kyland reminds her of all that are already out.  He hates to see Sarah Beth in pain.  Their only hope is to win Power of Veto.  Say what Sarah Beth?  Have you been taking double talk lessons from Kyland.  They discuss “house guest choice” and she doesn’t know who to ask!  She doesn’t trust anyone.

Power of Veto

Since this is an anonymous HoH, Xavier announces veto.  Only six will play, each of the nominees and three additional players.  They draw for the veto players and Xavier picks first as the special nominee.  He picks Alyssa (who he wanted).  Sarah Beth hopes for Derek and gets Claire.  She’s glad since she was secret HoH and now gets to compete to get all the power.  Kyland picks Hannah who is excited to play and win the power for herself.  After the ceremony, Tiffany and Claire talk about what to do if PoV is won.  The only option would be Alyssa.

The Power of Veto game is going to be based on the new movie musical, “Dear Evan Hansen” and Ben Platt shares a trailer with the house guests.  The PoV winner will get an advanced screening of the movie with three guests.  The backyard is set up like high school and the instructions say BB is like high school.  Not really this year but I digress.  They must line photos of the evicted house guests in chronological order to tell a story.  Britini’s homework gets eaten by the dog and Brent gets hit by a dodgeball are two funny pictures.  The game, “We’re Nuts for Benny,” will be timed.  It seems like all will have trouble but both Hannah and Sarah Beth gets them done quickly and  on the first try.  The times are:  Kyland 5:25; Claire  6:27; Alyssa  8:14; Hannah 4:59; Xavier 8:29; Sarah Beth 5:22.  The winner is Hannah.  She gets to see a movie (which she really wanted).  Claire is upset because she might have changed the nominees.  And Sarah Beth cries again.

Sarah Beth tells Kyland she was so close but couldn’t win.  He tells her not to worry.  He thinks Hannah will take him off and whichever stays will win the HoH next week.  Kyland would love to be taken down but he’s confident that he will stay (and again I tune out).  Sarah is going to try and get one of the two of them off so they can campaign to get Xavier out.

Power of Veto Movie and Meeting

Hannah asks Kyland, Sarah and Xavier to see the movie with her.  Derek is upset because he really wanted to see the movie.  The movie will be screened in the HoH room where snacks await.  As they sit on the bed, the movie runs.  I’m not sure Kyland likes it but he does cry by the end.  Xavier feels that Evan’s story hits home.  This is good promotion for the movie (or so the house guests say).

Kyland talks to Claire about her thoughts on who to evict.  Claire won’t tell him she’s got the secret HoH but wonder if he’s trying to save Sarah.  She doesn’t like that at all.  Of courses, Claire tells Tiffany that Kyland is pushing for the PoV to be used on him.  Tiffany’s not happy with Kyland and tells us that the Cookout members agreed to pick a partner and to sit beside them.  I think Kyland’s just been moved up in the eviction order of the Cookout.

Kyland then approaches Hannah to use the veto on him and she can’t figure out why.  She plans to use it on Xavier and tells us that he’s not following the plan.  I’d be running from the yard with all the talk, talk, talk Kyland’s doing.  Kyland isn’t making sense to Hannah and she knows he wants to take himself off so he can save Sarah.  Kyland, you just sealed Sarah’s fate.

The ceremony begins with Hannah using the power of Xavier.  Since he was a special nominee, there will not be a replacement for him.  Kyland looks upset but what can he say.

In the final Diary Rooms, Hannah tells us that she’s upset that Kyland asked her to pull him down and was sketchy.  Kyland feels for Sarah and his plan didn’t work.  It sucks.  Sarah complains.  She came to win and she will definitely try to stay.  I think your fate is sealed, Sarah.  Tiffany says that Kyland is sitting beside Sarah like they all promised.  Basically, Kyland, get over yourself.

Who will leave?  Will the Cookout team stay in power or fall?  It should be endurance tomorrow night.   Be sure and watch at 8:00 P. M. on Thursday.

Big Brother #23 – Will Sarah Beth Leave?

Tonight’s Big Brother will cap an interesting week.  Not only has Kyland and Sarah Beth been on the block but Kyland has been determined to “save” Sarah.  In do,ing so, he has alienated many of his alliance members.  Remember the Big Brother Cookout crew agreed to take each other to the final six even if it meant giving up their shield,

After the Veto

Julie mentions that the Cookout has been “kept under wraps” but they will be able to continue.  After the recap, we’re reminded that Sarah or Kyland will leave.  Oh yes!  Jury House and Britini and Baby D. start piecing things together.  It may start getting real folks!

On Day 58, the Cookout is safe so far.  Kyland though is not as popular as he once was with his fellow alliance members.  Julie reminds everyone that it has been a crazy week.  Hannah said she’s chose not to use the veto on Kyland because he would try to save Sarah Beth while Xavier is loyal.  Tiffany does not understand what Kyland is up to.  Claire is glad to see both still on the block.  Kyland is rambling again. Sarah is philosophical.

As Sarah sits alone, Xavier, Claire and Alyssa talk.  What about?  Oh, Alyssa comments about how there will be no white men on the jury.  This upsets Xavier because of what Alyssa said and to whom.  He goes to the bathroom for a talk to himself.  Now, they must look at Alyssa leaving next.  Only problem is she said it to Claire.

Azah and Xavier are making dinner as the rest are in the backyard.  Hannah and Derek are in the hammock with Tiffany nearby.  A bee swoops down and Derek moves quickly off the hammock causing Hannah to fall and hit her head.  Meanwhile, Xavier goes out to check leaving Azah and Claire in charge of dinner.  While Hannah’s head hurts and she goes to Diary Room, there is no harm done.  Dinner isn’t that lucky as the steaks in the oven catch fire.  The BB House is saved by the fire extinguisher but Xavier said what is going on?  Hannah doesn’t hold a grudge against Derek as she laughs at him.  (I think they need to throw in the ghosts right about now.)

The (unofficial) Cookout has an accidental meeting in the bathroom.  They do have to wake Xavier up.  They confirm the alliance name of Cookout.  (Hey guys!  We’ve been calling you this since week one.)

While Kyland, Derek, and Xavier confirm their final three in the “have not” room (why there?), Lyland (I mean Kyland) isn’t into that group.  He meets with Tiffany to figure out how to get rid of the guys.  Xavier or Derek (or is it the other way around) must leave before Kyland and the ladies.  Tiffany will sit next to Kyland in the finals (he thinks).  They pinky swear but Tiffany seems more confused and unhappy.  (Kyland will be gone before he knows it!)  Kyland has no loyalty.

Jury House

At Jury House, Britini is seen “fighting a statue” only to be surprised by Derek X.  She had thought that Alyssa, Sarah or Kyland would be next.  Derek hugs her and has a video for them to watch.  He regrets doing certain things to stop what happened.  After the video starts, Britini quickly catches on that Derek X was the backdoor plan for the week.  Derek tells her that America saw it and that’s why they both got what they got in the High Roller’s games. Do we really need this reminder?  As they discuss the week, Derek reveals the pact (left in Kyland’s message).  They decide that Kyland, Claire, Xavier, Hannah, Tiffany, and Derek belong in the group but Britini doesn’t think it is Derek.  Britini and Derek X will figure this out.

Live Vote Eviction

Sarah makes her case first.  She has offers to make.  She warns them they may regret the decision to evict her and must make the choice for their game.  Kyland has started.  He apologizes if the one-on-ones were too long (I’m sure he’s sorry—NO).  The voting starts.  The secret HoH will vote but will only be counted in the case of a tie.  Derek votes first for Sarah Beth.  Tiffany votes to evict Kyland.  By a vote of 5 to 1, Sarah is headed to jury (with Claire’s Sarah vote not counting).

Sarah joins Julie as her picture turns gray (which causes people to laugh or pretend cry).  Julie wants to know why she got evicted.  Sarah thinks she was a threat and others didn’t know they could trust her.  She thinks they wanted Kyland by himself in the game.  Julie asks if she regretted her HoH and eviction of Derek.  Sarah regrets not playing more loyal to Tiffany and Claire.  Ask about her closeness to Kyland, Sarah said that it was easy to play with Kyland and it wasn’t personal.  She was grateful for his support.  When asked about the secret HoH, Sarah guesses Claire as the secret HoH.  She also knew Tiffany was the single vote for her (thanks again Kyland).

In the good-bye messages, Claire admits to being the secret HoH and it was nothing personal.  Claire tells her that she was the secret HoH and it wasn’t personal.  Hannah says that she knew Sarah threw her under the bus.  Azah has to vote her out of further a mission she’s on.  Kyland mentions the alliance and BB doesn’t allow it to be played.  He doesn’t want to lose his relationship with her.  Julie asks for final thoughts.  Sarah said it was good game play on their part and knows Azah was a part of it.  She respects them.  Asked if Kyland will be a friends for life, Sarah says she has made many friends for life.

The HoH Competition

The HoH Competition in the backyard is called “The Flying BB-ions”.  Julie says that Claire will compete but must throw the competition before the end.  The game is the “swing game.”  They must stand on a platform, and it will circle the yard.  The elephant statue will release bubbles (and maybe something else).  As they are raised in the air, you see that they are having a real problem with Derek’s place.  The first three off wlil be “Have Nots” for the week.  As the show ends, Derek has fallen off during the commercial and isn’t happy.  As two circus performers appear, Alyssa falls.  The performers have spray bottles and seem to be spraying the house guests.

Next Thursday is a double eviction with another the following week.  (Sorry folks!  No triple eviction this year.)  Stand by.  I somehow think Alyssa is in trouble.

Oooo it's getting good, looking forward to the battle between the members of the Cookout.

Battle may be heating up as Xavier plans to hurt Tiff where it hurts -- she's not as innocent as people think.

Big Brother #23:  Who Did the HoH Swing

Big Brother #23 is counting down to a double elimination this week.  So far the Cookout has survived but can they survive a double elimination?  If they make it through two more pawns going (Claire and Alyssa), which of the Cookout is the most expendable.  With Tiffany, Xavier, Lyland – er Kyland, and Hannah playing hard, can they win or will Azah and Derek make it to the final two?  Note:  from now on I will refer Kyland to Lyland.  He’s very good at lying and being sly.

HoH Competition

After the exit of Sarah Beth, the HoH begins.  Interesting we are reminded of the final three between Kyland, Xavier and Derek.  We’re also reminded that Lyland (Kyland) and Tiffany has a final two alliance.  I am so tired of Lyland.  He’d be my first Cookout member out.

As we rejoin the competition, we are treated to more of the HoH competition.  Kyland is upset losing Sarah but he has another plan and Tiffany is happy that Sarah is gone.  Twitter went crazy Thursday because we didn’t see Derek fall but we get it tonight (he only last 1 minute 42 seconds).  Alyssa takes a hard hit and getting dizzy as the rope spins faster and faster.  Down she goes and she’s sick.  Tiffany is surprised that Alyssa is out as the group gets sprayed by three circus people with water/slime seltzer bottles.  Claire has to throw the game so she drops.

In a flashback, we’re shown Lyland taking information to Hannah and Tiffany.  In addition, the Cookout had promised to drop if Derek or Azah made it to the finals.  As we return to the game Hannah goes down followed by Xavier.  This leaves Azah, Tiffany and Lyland in the game.  The agreement had been made to let Azah win but neither Lyland or Tiffany will fall.  Azah finally falls and I guess Tiffany and Lyland have shown their true colors.  Lyland wants Tiff on the block with Claire but Tiff isn’t having that and they keep swinging.  Cookout is beginning to turn as Lyland finally falls and Tiffany wins AGAIN.  It’s every man for themselves even if it hasn’t reached just Cookout members yet.  This is Big Brother!

As this battle of wills has played out, fellow Cookout members are seeing a side of these two and Tiff’s loyalty is being questioned.  Tiff says Lyland wants wins for his resume.  Lyland says she may be in a situation where she has to put up Claire and he’s finally let’s her do it.  Tiffany celebrates again.  She celebrates winning twice in a row (but isn’t it three times since she controlled the noms from Claire’s?).

After HoH

Lyland doesn’t understand why Tiff wouldn’t fall.  Maybe it’s because you (Lyland) planned to put Claire and Tiff up.   TIffany is trying to ‘build her resume’ for the big finale (which you shouldn’t count on because this type of game can backfire!).  Lyland is scared that he is at risk.  He sees Tiff as selfish (but he’s not).  I’m sure Azah sees both as selfish.  Azah is happy she’s safe but is upset at Tiff’s not keeping her word.  TIff throws the blame for her not dropping at Lyland.

Alyssa is upset she’s on slop because she can’t eat it.  She’s scared of losing more weight after being on it for three times.  She is also not Tiff’s ally so she’s scared of going up.  Xavier is upset that the Cookout’s plan is shot.  He’s on the block for a third time but Tiff and Claire celebrate in the bathroom.  Tiffany is getting a little too arrogant to win this!  Claire figures that she and Tiff will make it to the final two.

Lyland goes to talk to Tiffany again.  They’re arguing over who wanted it more (Azah wanted it more). Lyland tells us that Tiff wanted to win.  Okay, I’ve just zoned out again.  Please someone take Lyland out.  Tiff talks to us and she’s in the “someone had to win” mind. Couldn’t it have been Azah? Tiff says she’s keeping her pawn safe as long as she can.  She’s sure that Claire will be safe until next week and she celebrates her success AGAIN of getting Sarah Beth out.

Derek and Azah have a talk.  He feels like he’s the weakest person and Azah offers support. She reminds him that he created the alliance and helped pull it off.   He’s been trying but as he tells all, physical feats are not for him.  It happened in high school with physical ed but his dad told him to keep swinging and trying.  Hannah comes in and says that Lyland just wouldn’t quit.  She’s not too happy that the plan has changed but at least no one is looking at her.  When Xavier to talks to Derek and Azah, he’s not happy with Lyland or Tiff.  Azah tells us that she is tired of putting her game for the Cookout while others play for themselves.  She’s frustrated but must trust the process and so is Xavier.  I think he’s favoring an alliance with Derek and Azah (wonder just how much Derek is sleeping and how much he’s listening and strategizing while ‘sleeping’).

Xavier and Tiff meeting and Xavier tells her that Claire needs to go.  Tiff apologizes because she plans for Alyssa to go up which means that Xavier also goes up.  Tiff is HoH and not that sorry.  Can we say arrogant.  I liked her week one but not so much anymore. My opinion: until recently, Tiff’s been relying on Xavier or Lyland to get their hands dirty and throw no suspicion on her.  Xavier tells us he is tired and he’s been playing for the Cookout.  Now Tiff can get blood on her hands and Xavier has the chance to mess with Tiffany’s doom.

It’s HoH Time!

Oh no, another HoH reveal.  Do we have to do that again? Derek says he’s excited but he’s not.  He calls Tiffany selfish.  Derek will play like he cares but he doesn’t.  As everyone enters and does the usual, Derek and Xavier end up sitting on the bed.  They’re the first to leave and go downstairs to talk.  Xavier said it should have been Derek and Azah since they have never won.  Tiffany is selfish and then Lyland comes in.  Upstairs Tiff, Claire and Hannah watches and I’m sure they wanted to know what was said.  Alyssa and Azah is in the bedroom where Alyssa tries on Azah’s dress.  It fits.

Later Claire and Tiff meet to discuss strategy.  Tiff feels she is on Xavier’s and Lyland’s radar (oh really).  Tiff tells Claire that they need to align with Hannah and Azah.  If Claire wins HoH, Tiff plans for her to take out one of the guys.  I knew this!  She’s not as smart as she thinks.  Claire agrees and says that the guys will be on the block because they will stick together.

Tiffany talks to Alyssa about going on the block.  If I hear “it is what it is” from Tiff again, I swear I’ll never say it.  Alyssa knew that Tiffany would take a shot and Alyssa feels that Tiff has many friends in the jury house (I’m not so sure Alyssa).  Alyssa goes through the votes and how each would stand against her.  Alyssa, don’t do that!  Tiffany thinks that everyone knows she’s not the mastermind.  Tiffany says Alyssa’s math adds up and Tiffany is thinking of sitting next to her in the end.

Nominations

Tiffany calls everyone to nominations.  The usual spill is made and we see Alyssa and Xavier on the board.  Well, at least they play for PoV.  The reasoning is that it is a game move (and not personal) due to them being strong competitors.

Tiffany say they may have wanted Claire gone but it’s Tiff’s HoH and she’s there for the money.  Alyssa hoped her pitch would work but it didn’t.  She tired of the “fake smiles and laughs”.  Xavier tells us third week of the block because Tiffany decided to win HoH.  He can play friendly but also blow Tiffany’s game.  I think Tiffany better look to self-preservation and not have too big a case of HoHitis.

Wednesday, we get the PoV game.  Will Tiffany’s plan work or will a new strategy be devised.  In other words, will Claire have to go up!  Will Tiffany play true?  Will Xavier use the double eviction Thursday to get Tiffany out.  Stay tune, Big Brother fans!  It’s about to get down and dirty.

Big Brother #23:  And Tiffany’s Hits Keep Flying  (9/8/21)

Big Brother fans will remember that on Sunday’s taped show, Tiffany won the HoH.  This set up a wild ride for Xavier who found himself on the block opposite Alyssa, his pawn.  Now the stage is set for a repeat of last week’s show or is it?  While there isn’t a secret HoH to spoil the plans, the Power of Veto is coming in to play along with Zingbot’s return.  Let’s sit back and get ready for the show.  And with it being a double eviction tomorrow night, I hope the house guests know what’s going to hit them!

Post Nominations

Tiffany doesn’t care if she has made the others mad.  It’s her HoH and she’ll do what she wants.  Question for CBS?  Yes, I know Tiffany has come off as rather conceited and doesn’t want to be on the block at all during this game, but are you giving her this edit because you are tired of her or to show what’s she capable of to America?  Xavier is frustrated but Claire is happy.  Later, when Xavier is shooting pool, Alyssa comes up to talk about PoV and the next eviction.  Who would Tiffany put up?  Hannah’s name is mentioned.  Xavier is coming for Tiffany while Tiffany is trying to arrange something so she doesn’t have to nominate a third person this week.  The only one left is Claire and she’d have to choose between her plus one and Cookout members.  Tiffany thinks her mental powers will take care of the PoV situation.  As PoV is nearing, Alyssa talks to Derek about playing for her since she took him off the block.  He agrees but we all know he won’t do it.  He admits he’s scared of what Tiffany could do.  Later in the HoH room, Derek and Xavier talk scenarios.  While it is going to be individual’s game soon, Xavier sees it as Tiffany is already in that mindset and is ticked off by her actions.  The big question is:  will Tiffany honor the Cookout to final six or keep Claire close.  Personally, I think she has set herself up for eviction.  Xavier thinks she’s “ruining her game” which he wants to do anyway.  Derek likes messy play but not this week.  Are the two of them not trusting Lyland (Kyland) now?

Why is it that Azah and Derek are the only two who seem to do any cleaning?  Azah though seems to like to sing the songs they have made up this summer like “Do What You Want to Do.”  Then we get a Diary Room with Derek trying to sale the BB #23 album featuring songs like “Big Blue Couch,” “I’m on the Block Again,” and many more.  Yes, they had fun with this but did we need this Diary Room.

Power of Veto and Zingbot

Tiffany is happy because it’s time to pick PoV players.  The three players will be:  House guest choice Hannah (Tiffany), Derek (Xavier), and Azah (Alyssa).  None of these will change the nominations if they win so Xavier and Alyssa must win on their own.  Claire, Hannah and Lyland aren’t playing.  Oh, and Derek lets Lyland know that about his crush.

All go outside and Zingbot is on the balcony.  While they can’t wait, we know what is coming and prepare for the zings that can’t always be understood. Hannah can’t wait to “get her feelings hurt by this robot.”  Zing calls them losers (as usual).

First is Alyssa who Zingbot calls dim even though she lives in Florida.  Xavier is next with a zing about his secret of crushes -- on himself.  Tiffany is called old as in ‘four score and seven ...”  Claire gets referred to as “Big Foot.”  Hannah gets a knock, knock joke about being invisible.  Derek gets a zing about his bathroom use.  Azah is told by the Zingbot that she’ll never get a date with Xavier.  The last, and most accurate, is Lyland.  He gets compared to a babbling brook because he will never shut up.  In Diary Room, all agree with the Zingbot on Lyland’s zing.

The Power of Veto begins and all 21 small cocktail glasses and twizzers start to go.  Called “Micro Cocktails,” each player must stack rows of small cocktail glasses using tweezers through a window.  The first to stack the five rows will win (total of 21 cocktail glasses).  Oh no, this is the one that Tyler got so frustrated with.  Xavier wants to win so he can see what Tiffany will do.  Alyssa knows it means she has to win to survive.  While it looks like Derek might actually win, he knocks his down and must start over.  As the game continues it looks like Alyssa and Tiffany are neck and neck.  In the end, Alyssa puts her last glass on the top and wins a PoV bracelet.  Tiffany is upset and faced with her worse possible fear, replacing Alyssa with a nomination of Claire.

In Diary Room, Tiffany is upset with herself, but Xavier is laughing at her dilemma.  Karma is what he’s really thinking as he celebrates.  Later Xavier meets Derek and Azah in the bedroom and all worry about whether Tiffany will follow through with the plan or play selfishly and keep Claire off the block.  Derek says that if she does, Tiffany will lose four votes.  In the HoH bath, Tiffany and Hannah talk and Tiffany feels hurt.  Tiffany wants Claire for personal game and friendship but if she goes against Cookout, her chances of winning are gone.  Claire has to be told that she’s going up without ruining their relationship (a a vote for Tiffany in the finals). Hannah goes back to talk to Derek and Xavier who secretly have admitted they will flip the house if Tiffany goes back on her word.  So Hannah is giving info now?  Xavier is worried about how Tiffany will tell Claire and what Alyssa will learn.

Tiffany talks to Claire and admits she has an agreement with Lyland, Derek, Azah and Hannah to keep them safe.  She can’t put any of those four up (notice she didn’t add Xavier there).  That means she has to put up Claire which upsets Claire.  And we get a big bleep space and tears from the both of them.  Tiffany tells us that she didn’t want to lie and will be as honest as she can.  She has her own personal feelings about how to play the game.  Now Claire cries.  In Diary Room, Claire says she can’t be mad.  She gets the reasoning.  Claire even knows the reason (PoC) and how they always leave early.

The Power of Veto Meeting

PoV meeting is held and of course Alyssa uses it on herself.  Tiffany must now put up Claire or a Cookout member.  She tells all it is difficult but Claire is her choice.  As the meeting ends, we get Alyssa telling us that she’s proud of herself.  She’s declared Tiffany as her target.  Tiffany wants to keep Claire safe but doesn’t think there is any way she can save Claire.  Claire is going to go out as a fighter and will do everything she can to stay.

Double eviction tomorrow and it will be good.  Hannah has been working on getting sympathy votes from everyone for Claire.  If she gets enough, Xavier will be gone.  Oh, think of that delicious ending.  So that leaves the following questions.  Will the Cookout be safe?  Will Xavier accidentally leave early?  If Xavier exits, whose game will he take out?  Who will win the HoH and nominate to be the second evictee?  Tune in tomorrow to find out whether the Cookout ends.

It's gonna be a good one. And it will be fun to see the next jury clip and see them compare notes.

No jury clip -- I'm not mad.

Big Brother #23:  Double Eviction Looms  (9/9/21)

As the double eviction looms, Big Brother fans are left with the possibility of losing Claire tonight.  Not only that, but a Cookout member could leave before the end of the hour.  It seems strange, in the Big Brother universe, that a group of six has made it to eight.  Their dedication to each other is one of the most powerful I’ve ever seen but I digress.  The drama is ramping up and we should all prepare ourselves for a blow-out episode.

Pre-Vote and Eviction One

I’m not sure how much of a recap we’ll get tonight.  They have so much to cover in a double eviction but I’m sure there will be something. Personally, I want Jury House and Sarah Beth’s arrival.

And I was right.  We get a recap (and bad edit for Tiffany).  Oh, they reverse the reveal of the Cookout by Tiffany with the nomination.  Julie Chen Moonves reminds one that a Cookout could go to jury.

Claire is probably the first evictee but plans are being made for the next one.  Alyssa wants to set up a blindside for Tiffany.  Claire tells us that her leaving “sucks” and she has an uphill battle to stay.  While this is a hardship for Tiffany, it had to be done.  Xavier, Derek and Azah talk about the next eviction.  Alyssa realizes that all the people left will be People of Color (she’s half Hispanic as she tells them).  Basically, the four of them all have a reason for Tiffany to leave.  Xavier, Tiff’s closest ally, hasn’t liked her play this week.  Hannah and Azah are conspiring about a sympathy vote.  Hannah is setting it up to blame Lyland for the 4 to 1 vote.  Hannah needs to keep she, Tiffany and Azah safe.  Alyssa seems okay to put up Kyland (Lyland) but will she.

The First eviction has started.  Julie announces that tonight is a double eviction and Lyland looks slightly worried.  Xavier and Claire can make their speech.  Xavier says that they should think of the benefits for keeping them.  If he does go, Alyssa will have his vote.  Claire makes a case that Xavier will win the game if he stays.  In fact, he’s playing a “damn fine game” and she’ll tell the rest of the jury just that.

The voting starts.  First up is Alyssa.  She votes to evict Claire.  Hannah will vote to evict Xavier and blame Lyland (if necessary).  With a vote of four to one, Claire is evicted from the Big Brother House.  Julie makes the announcement and she doesn’t wait for goodbyes.  That will happen on finale night.

Julie welcomes Claire and mentions the exit.  Julie asks about Tiffany’s nomination.  Julie says you said “I get it” and Claire agrees.  People of Color always leave early.  She will never be mad at Tiffany for doing it.  Asked by Julie about calling out/messaging Xavier, Claire says she thinks he’s playing the best game of all that remain.  Claire’s final thoughts are that she has had so many highs and lows and she loves the Big Brother game.  She has no regrets.  And made a classy exit.

Head of Household

Now, for the week in an hour.  Julie joins the house guests and Tiffany looks worried.  This is the BB Comics Week.  All will be themed around BB comics.  This one is “Crash, Boom, Pow” and each will be shown series of images based on comic books with crash, boom, and pow.  They have six tiles.  One point for each correct answer.  The one with the most correct answers win.  While Derek does relatively good, it is Hannah who wins her first Head of Household and must nominate two.

In the house, Hannah holds quick meetings.  I hear Lyland and it looks like he wants Derek gone.  Alyssa congratulates her and Hannah tells her she will be nominated.  It’s not personal but best for her game.

Live Nomination Ceremony

Hannah tells all that this isn’t for anything but to help her game.  Xavier and Alyssa are the noms and we’re heading to live veto competition.

Veto Competition

The Veto Competition will involve all but Lyland (selected to sit out by draw) will play.  This game is called “Logo, Let’s Go”.  They must race to complete a BB Comics puzzle.  They have their first piece locked in and must build off of that.  They must do the puzzle and hit the buzzer.  Did Xavier get a chance to practice?  He finishes the puzzle early and won the Power of Veto.  He’s told to strategize and head inside.

Power of Veto Competition

Tiffany, Hannah and Xavier have a quick meeting.  I’m sure Tiff is laying down the law.  Alyssa is making a plea but would Xavier be stupid enough to use it on Alyssa (of course not).  I couldn’t make out all that was said, but Alyssa spilled some information.  The real question is who will Hannah call to replace Xavier? Probably the choice falls to Derek.

The ceremony begins and Xavier, as expected, removes himself.  Hannah has decided to put up Kyland.  What!  I’m shocked.  Lyland and Tiff has a final two (as he has with everyone else).  Alyssa and Derek off screen together (to talk maybe).  I’m not sure if Xavier was with them but he did a nice speech to her before saving himself.

The Second Eviction

Kyland is called first to make a speech to sway votes.  He tells them he respects their decision.  He’s short!  Alyssa tells all keep her and have a chance to win the game or keep Kyland and do what he tells you to do so he can win the game.

The voting starts with Azah.  Wow!  Xavier wants Lyland out.  The final vote is three to one and Alyssa is evicted from the house.  She does hug all as she leaves.

On stage, Julie welcomes her and they watch an upset Xavier get a hug from Derek then Kyland, Tiffany and Azah.  What no Hannah?  Oh, she’s giving Lyland a hug.

Julie says she didn’t look shocked.  Alyssa feels lucky she didn’t leave last week.  When Julie asks about feeling betrayed, Alyssa feels betrayed by Hannah and Claire.  Both wanted her out and Alyssa just talked too much this week.  Julie asks if she trusted Xavier and anyone else.  Alyssa doesn’t really name any names but those she didn’t trust – Hannah.  Would she have taken Xavier to the final two, Alyssa doesn’t hesitate!  She would have taken him to the final three only because anyone sitting beside him will lose.  Once again, Alyssa talks about being glad that she was on the “Kings” team.  Doesn’t realize that teams are over (and have been for Cookout members for a long time).  No mention of the Cookout is made.

Julie asks Alyssa to leave because she can’t hear what Julie will tell us.  The Cookout are the final six.  Only one will win.  Next week will feature a special two hour double eviction episode.  As the show ends, the Cookout celebrates with a group hug and cheer.

Oh, and Julie announced on Twitter today that there will be another Celebrity Big Brother this winter.  Who wants the top salary and who will be asked to play?

The rest of the season is going to be so good! As of now, I am leaning towards Xavier for the win. But we will see! I don't like Tiff, but she is playing a good game and so is Hannah.

Big Brother #23:  The Cookout Begins the Fight  (9/12/21)

Big Brother fans!  Can you believe it?  One complete alliance of all members has made it to the final six.  First, I don’t recall that ever happening.  Add to that that the group is PoC.  The diversity this year paid off in the Big Brother game (even with the complaints) but I feel that they owe much to two things:  production’s decision to split the group into teams and Frenchie’s statement that no PoC or woman would be evicted week one.  By the time those waves ended, the game was down to people who kept the team mentality and those who had a broader game in mind.  It was the group with the broader game (overlooking teams) that made it.

After the Double

After Claire and Alyssa left, the Cookout members could use their alliance name and celebrated.  Big Brother though wasn’t through with their week in one day and HoH loomed before them.    Hannah tells us that going into the double the plan was for one of them to win HoH, nominate Alyssa, win PoV and evict Alyssa.  She’s so happy because at 21, she’s been on her favorite television show and made it to the final six.  Both Tiffany and Azah also celebrate the win in the bedroom.  There was one problem before the final vote.  When Xavier won PoV, he took himself off.  Kyland/Lyland was going up but he wasn’t happy.  He thought Tiffany or Hannah should go up since neither had been on the block.  Hannah was HoH which left Tiffany and she wasn’t going up.  Tiffany didn’t want Lyland up but better him than her.

Even as the celebration happens at the end of the show, Tiffany’s brain is going (look at her eyes).  Derek tells us they stuck together and got all of them to the final six.  Tiffany says it is every man for himself (but she’s been playing more that way than the others lately).  Xavier says that their time and effort paid off to get everyone so far but he’s determined to be in one of the seats on finale night.

Tiffany starts damage control with Lyland.  She tries to explain her reasoning for staying off the block and get him to agree with her on the plan and have no issues.  Tiffany, you just told us that everyone must play for themselves from now on.  While Tiffany thinks things are calm, Lyland has changed his mind about taking her to the end.  He sees Tiffany as trying to do jury management.  Tiffany has cornered Xavier upstairs to try her mist on him regarding Claire.  While he listens, he’s not buying her tale.  In the Diary Room, Tiffany admits she feels like people see her as a threat.  While she thinks Xavier won’t come after her, she’ll send him to jury.

Lyland and Hannah are talking because Hannah needs to do damage control for putting him on the block.  They talk and she tries to smooth things over.  Lyland tells us in Diary Room that he doesn’t want to work with her in the long run.  Hannah’s excuse is the “I was rushed” (as if Tiffany and she hadn’t planned it before hand).  Next up is Xavier and Derek’s talk and it’s about Tiffany’s actions.  Derek will take a shot at Tiffany and in Diary Room tells us he’s ready to get it done.  Kyland and Xavier talk and congratulate each other for still being in the house.  They talk targets and taking care of each other if in the nomination chairs.  Lyland in Diary Room tells us he has started making decisions on who he wants to go against at the end.  It has to be a contender and that is Xavier.  So Xavier and he made a final two deal and name themselves “The Gentlemen.”

HoH Competition

As they wait for the HoH, Tiffany tells us that she needs to win and stay safe because she doesn’t know who will take a shot at her.  Lyland says that the first HoH of the group must make a decision on who will go out first.  Hannah just doesn’t want it to be her.

The HoH competition is set up in the backyard.  The house guests (the heroes) are being held captive by the super chicken.  It’s the egg up the chicken wire wall and into a slot competition and I didn’t hear the name.  It looks easier than in the past, but they must roll their eggs down a ramp and knock three levers down to get free.  Hey, everyone!  After all our complaints about Derek not being able to win, he does knock down the first lever.  Of course, Lyland wins but it should be noted that Derek had two to Xavier and Azah’s one lever.  And how many did Tiffany knock down – zero.

After the competition, Tiffany meets with Lyland to start her pitch.  She wants to remind him of their deal to go to the end together.  In a later meeting, she pushes a larger target (Xavier).  Hannah also tries to do damage control as she nominated him for jury.  She also pushes for a final four and Xavier to be the target. Lyland has made the deal with Xavier and he knows that there may be a line drawn in the sand.

Lyland knows Derek is worried and upset with his performance.  Derek is in the “have-not room” and Lyland comes in to talk.  Derek is trying to figure out how he can continue with his game because he’s not a threat and can’t win anything.  Lyland admits he knows how much Derek wanted to win but it just didn’t happen.  Later, Xavier and Lyland meet to discuss the nominations.  Tiffany and Hannah are the top of the list.  Azah will be the third nominee and pawn.

Nominations

Lyland knows that this nomination ceremony will be the first Cookout member eliminated.  It’s a tough decision but he has to put up two people.  His nominations are Tiffany and Hannah.  The reason for this is because of a loss of trust.  Lyland tells us that he used to trust Tiffany but he doesn’t feel safe with her in the game.  Xavier is happy that he didn’t go up after four weeks on the block.  Hannah is shocked and sad because she’s up against her number one ally.  Tiffany is mad.  They had a deal, and he didn’t trust her.  “It was suppose to be Xavier.”  She wants to win HoH next week and take control.

So who will win the Power of Veto and will Hannah or Tiffany be taken off the block.  Be sure and watch Wednesday night.  Also, don’t forget that Thursday we get a two-hour episode.  Since we haven’t seen jury, I’m sure it will be a part of that two-hour episode.

Little Miss Tiff was in quite a snit tonight! Ha! Glad to see a little trouble coming her way. Really, Azah has done zero this season, she doesn't deserve to go much further, hope she doesn't. Derek F, gotta feel kind of bad for the guy. But, hey, I just plain don't like throwing comps so someone else can win.

Note:  She's spent at least one night in the HoH bed with Lyland and I think Hannah joined them one night.

Big Brother #23:  Action Heroes Unite (9/15/21)

Tonight, Big Brother promises we will get the Power of Veto Ceremony.  For anyone watching feeds (or reading Live Feed Updates), we know it is BB Comics.  For the Big Brother fan, these have become fan favorites during the past few years.  So whose comic cover will be the best?  Can Hannah or Tiffany pull off the PoV and save themselves?  Will Derek “prove” himself today and finally win a competition.  The cover is up to you to decide!  No jokes please.

Pre-Competition and Players

Tonight, will be the first time that all get to play in the POV.  The Cookout has scored a win by getting all members to this point.  The question is:  who can win and will fights occur before the eviction.  Here we go!

We’re reminded that Lyland is playing both sides:  the guys and gals (minus Azah).  That may come back to haunt his HoH. Oh, it did.  He put up Tiffany and Hannah.  I wonder if they’ll share the HoH bed with him again?  Oh, and only two weeks remain before a winner is crowned.

After the nominations, Kyland tells us that since he can’t trust Tiffany, she’s up.  Tiffany does feel betrayed.  She felt the final three was sealed.  Derek is just happy that Tiffany is FINALLY on the block.  He’s wanted this to happen like forever.  Xavier is glad that Lyland honored the agreement (and yes, I still call Kyland by my nickname for him, Lyland).  Hannah feels he’s thrown her for a loop and wants to talk.  Lyland tells Hannah that she’s not the target.  She’s up because she is close to Tiffany.  Lyland says Tiffany and Xavier would never move forward together which confuses Hannah as always.  She does realize that the guys are working together.  You mean it took you this long to realize it?  Hannah is sure that if it comes down to Lyland and Xavier, Xavier will win but she’s going to fight to stay.

Derek tells us that he feels bad for Hannah, Tiffany and Lyland.  It’s not going to be easy.  Xavier tells him that it is hard but there has to be targets.  Xavier tells us from jury management scenarios, he’ll win against Lyland and Derek.  Derek worries that Lyland may try some “tricky stuff” but hopes to make it to the end.  Meanwhile Tiffany and Hannah didn’t expect the nominations.   Tiffany has realized that since Claire left, she only has Hannah.  Hannah decides to approach Azah and she’s going to push Azah to win the veto and take one of the women off.  During this talk, Hannah tells Azah that she doesn’t want the guys to control the game.  I’m afraid that she’s left Azah out for too long.  Azah tells us that she wanted the women to work together at the start, but she got close to Derek and Xavier.  Tiffany does send us a message via her camera chat but in Diary Room she tells us that it will be life changing for her and her son.  She wants to win the veto for a birthday gift to him.

News Break

Four American have launched successfully into orbit on the SpaceX rocket.  Of course, I couldn’t see it because of clouds.

The Veto Competition

The competition will be done one at a time.  As always in Big Brother (BB) Comics, they are dressed as super heroes, swing on a zip line and observe comic book cover titles, and then must put them in correct order on a “web page” (computer image).  They must also be careful because one little detail could be wrong so the correct cover must be chosen.  If you are wrong, you will get a buzzer.  Note:  Notable comics include Derek X. in his herald’s costume, Derek F. snoozing, Xavier ripped with an “X marks the spot,” Sarah with her breath.

Looks like Derek is first.  He’s looking forward to this comp and gives us a good explanation.  The way he suggests for the game to be played is that you get the covers in the right order then start looking for differences.  To explain this it would take forever and good covers are available online now.  When you hit the buzzer, you are told if you are right or wrong.  If you are wrong you must figure out which is wrong.  Derek actually does a good job.  He’s followed by Kyland who does very well as does Azah.  Xavier and Tiffany both have trouble so they’re not adding to their resume.  Finally is Hannah.  She takes her time and gets all right on the first try.  How will times play into this?

The times are in with Derek’s time of 14:05 revealed first.  Hannah was right behind him with 14:06.  Xavier (20:56), Azah (20:22) and Tiffany (40:00) haven’t done as well.  It comes down to Kyland who score of 11:64 wins.  I guess his love of comics paid off.  Derek is so happy to finally come in second.  Wait, doesn’t he now have two second places.  He tells us in Diary Room that he’s afraid he may now be considered a threat.

After costume pictures, Xavier and Kyland run scenarios.  When it looks like he may be changing his mind and HoHitis is taking over, Xavier reminds him that by putting up Derek, Derek would leave.  Tiffany does have a plan and it involves visiting Kyland and promising the moon.  No, she promises she will take him to the end and be true only to him.  Right, Tiff!  You said you wanted a Cookout woman to win this year.  She even uses that her ego/pride got the best of her and now she’s willing to put it aside.  Hannah uses a different strategy and only offers one week safety and the use of veto in the final three.  In Diary Room, Kyland says the offers are enticing but he’s not really buying it (I think).  Kyland wonders if he can trust Hannah to vote Tiffany out (of course not).

Power of Veto Meeting

Kyland calls them all in and announces he will not be using the Power of Veto.  He apologizes and wishes both the best of luck.  In Diary Room, he says he’s not happy doing this but he wants Tiffany to go home because it is the best thing for his game.  Hannah is upset she’s on the block against Tiffany.  They need only two votes but Hannah’s is going to get those.  Derek is so glad she’s leaving.  He uses the card analogy that she’s a queen but he’s a joker and joker’s have the last laugh.  Tiffany tells us she will have the votes she needs.  She came up the plan to keep them there for the game and she’ll come up with another plan to stay

Note:  Remember, tomorrow is a two hour episode.  (Live feeds have been down all day and won’t return until tomorrow night after the show airs in Pacific Time.)  We will get another episode on Friday but none on Sunday so be aware of the schedule change.

I liked Azah's comic the best! I got a kick out of Derek patting himself on the back for coming in 2nd 2 times in a row, but not wanting to be perceived as a threat! LOL! Oh, Azah, I had such high hopes for you this season, you have done diddly squat, you need to go. Anyone else tired of Kyland's grin?

Big Brother #23:  Which Queen Will leave Durimg the Double Eviction

And so it begins on Big Brother!  For all the weeks the game has been played, the Cookout remained hidden and kept itself together.  I have my ideas on why this happened and the biggest belongs to CBS and the team concept.  The teams just couldn’t let it go!  But I digress.  Tonight, we will see the first Cookout member leave the house to jury.  Will it be Tiffany or Hannah?  Does CBS have a secret up it’s sleeve?  Twitter has been hoping for a battle back between the two evictees tonight but I don’t really see it.  It would have to include the other five who went before and are in jury now.   We’ll have to wait until the two hours play out to see what they have in mind for tonight’s episode(s).  By the way, remember feeds have been down since early Wednesday so no one knows what has gone on in the house.

Post Power of Veto

Julie reminds us that the Cookout alliance made it to the final six.  After a recap that reminds us of the men’s alliance (with the sub-alliance of The Gentlemen), we are reminded that Kyland/Lyland had a final three with Tiffany and Hannah.  He’s true to the men though and not the ladies.  By leaving them on the block, Lyland went against his word to the ladies.  Can he be trusted?  Of course not!  This is Big Brother.

Julie states it frankly: “It’s every man or woman for themselves.”  Julie then moves into what happened after PoV Ceremony.  Kyland didn’t change noms because by taking Tiffany off, she would stay and he didn’t want to have a hand in that dangerous situation.  Tiffany tells us that she’s going to work hard to stay.  See how loyal she is?  Later as the two play chess, they discuss the summer and the success the Cookout has had.  Later.  Tiffany tells us that the group has accomplished so much this season by getting all to the end.

Tiffany starts the campaign by talking to a sleepy Azah.  She explains that Hannah is cut-throat and that’s why she needs to stay.  To Derek, she uses the argument that Hannah wants him gone then turns around and does the same spill to Xavier.  Little does she know that Derek and Xavier compare notes and realizes she just substitutes names to satisfy whoever she is speaking with.  The discussion of going to Vegas comes up and I don’t think that Derek wants to go if Brent is there.

Elimination Ceremony

Julie congratulates the Cookout for making it to final six and having a PoC this year as a winner.  Julie asks Tiffany why this alliance was so important to which Tiffany said that she wanted to insure that one of them made it to the final six.  They all the same goal and it was an amazing feat.  Xavier gets asked how he felt when he realized they done it.  He tells Julie that it was groundbreaking.  Their hard work paid off.  Derek tells Julie that it was hard and a challenged but well worth it.  Hannah admits to Julie that it was hard to see Derek X. leave the house but the mission they were doing was more important.  Kyland talked and talked and said that personal game on one side and mission on the other and he hated betraying Sarah Beth.  Azah barely could answer the question because of Kyland but she tells Julie they made history as the first six person to make it in tack.

Jury House

Julie sends us to the Jury House and they are discussing who is coming in the door.  They think if it is Sarah Beth, a man won HoH.  Well is it Sarah Beth and Derek X. admits he didn’t want her to win but to go a little further.  Watching the video, we see a more confident Britini as she has a good read on the game.  They figure it will be Claire or Alyssa as the next house guest to come and are surprised to see Sarah Beth.  Sarah Beth realizes that there is a large alliance working together that is making it to the end (the Cookout). It will be the first PoC person winning and the first alliance that makes it in its entirety.  The next week, they welcome first Claire and then Alyssa.  Claire is hurt because it is Tiffany who sent her out. She had hoped that Lyland would leave.  Her good-bye messages talked about an alliance and something bigger.  Alyssa’s video is watched and she had hoped that she could win and Kyland would be the replacement.  She knew something was different because of Xavier’s PoV speech and the good-bye messages about alliance and mission.  Britini thinks Lyland is the biggest problem and whoever takes him out gets props from her.  Derek X. is surprised that Tiffany sent Claire out.  Claire was hoping Xavier would go.  Her messages of bigger purpose, alliance and respect.  While Alyssa didn’t see it coming, she respects what they did.  Britini declares that the game has officially begun since it’s just the alliance left.

The First Vote

The house guests make their pleas.  Tiffany tells the house guests that their names will always be paired together.   Hannah wishes her dad happy birthday and is so proud of the Cookout for playing together. The voting starts with Derek first.  By a vote of three to zero, Tiffany is evicted from the game.  After Julie reveals the votes, Tiffany doesn’t look surprised and hugs all.  She tells all of them to have fun and does their Cookout cheer as she walks out to meet Julie.

Julie asks TIffany why is she sitting on stage with her.  Tiffany feels that she had a final two with Lyland week two but it looked like she kept changing her mind.  Tiffany admits that the Swing HoH win didn’t help.  She also tells Julie that she’s a risk taker and would rather ask for forgiveness afterwards. Julie calls her a master strategist and Tiffany agrees.  While she wanted to win, the mission was important.  They had to control the game.  Tiffany had to come up with a way to win and one morning, she got the chess board and figured it out in five minutes.  It was hard to play for herself and for the PoC goal.  She could have gone against the group by not putting Claire up, but it was a bigger mission.  Tiffany is surprised by the double elimination.

Second Eviction Begins

Julie calls everyone back to the living room and congratulates them on making it to final five.  Then she says second eviction and they go into shock.  Everything happens soon in the back yard.

THe HoH competition is “BB Ballers.”  Two rounds will be played.  Round one has each house guests with 12 balls.  They must retrieve a ball and roll it up the ramp to knock 12 silver balls off the game field.  The first two who accomplishes this will be in a playoff.  Xavier and Azah advances and now must roll 10 balls up the ramp and get them to stop on the grass.  If it is a tie, they will have to answer a question.  They must roll at the same time.  While they both have problems at first, Azah wins her first HoH of the season by beating Xavier five to two (or was it three).  Derek hugs her and all head into the house.  Looks like Azah will put up Hannah because she can’t touch Derek unless as a back door.  Hannah isn’t the target.  Lyland is going up also, it appears.  No wait!  It’s Xavier.

Nominations

Azah is asked to nominate the two house guests who will be up for eviction.  Azah tries to keep her promises.  She puts up Xavier and Hannah and one of them may be the next one eliminated.  Next up the Power of Veto game

Power of Veto

The Power of Veto game is a Big Brother classic game, “What the Bleep.”  They will watch videos with a bleeped-out word or phrase and Julie will supply an answer.  They must decide if it is true of false.  It comes down to Kyland and Xavier as the same correct answers.  When the tie breaker is asked, Kyland wins and Azah may have to replace him as a nominee.  The tie breaker question is:  In seconds how long was the “cluckster competition” from start until BB declared Kyland the winner.

Power of Veto Ceremony

Of course, Kyland uses the Power of Veto on Xavier leaving Derek as the only option.  He assures Julie that he’s okay with it.  Azah seems upset.

Eviction Two

Each make a plea and Hannah says please keep me.  Kyland is first.  By a vote of two to zero, Hannah is going to jury.  Kyland was torn by his decision, but he felt he needed to give his vote to Derek.  Hannah is upset but hugs Derek first and then the rest.  She tells Kyland:  “It’s okay.”  Asked about hurt feelings, Hannah tells them, “not at all.”

On stage with Julie, she tells Julie she can’t believe she’s out.  They watch Azar and Derek cry.  Kyland takes it worse than Xavier.  Julie asks when Azah nominated her, she looked shocked.  Hannah felt that Azah would target Kyland because she had said she would.  Hannah believes the men are working together and Azah doesn’t realize it.  Hannah didn’t think she was the target but thinks Azah wasn’t aware of Kyland and Xavier’s deal.  Julie asked why she felt that her only path to the end was with Tiffany and Hannah admits that she just didn’t have the same relationship.  She felt Azah just didn’t know how close the guys were.  Julie asked Hannah if it was difficult keeping the six together.  Hannah felt it was hard because she did have two other alliances.  In the end, Hannah’s purpose was to get the six to the end and a PoC as the winner.  There was no “ifs, and or buts.”  Hannah feels like a winner.  When she entered the house, she wanted to play ruthless but when she saw the other five, she knew that they should play for a final six.   As the show ends, each of the remaining BB Cookout members are contemplating the game (in separate rooms?).

Tomorrow night (Friday, September 17) will be the HoH competition.  No episode on Sunday due to the Emmy Awards. Finale night is September 29th.

I think I got too pumped up for tonight's show! When they all like each other, even though they kinda have a pecking order, that's the way it goes I guess...blaaah. They were all really a bunch of sad puppies after the girls left.

I was excited when Azar won HOH but then she blew it.  That was a dumb move.

Big Brother #23 – The Final Four HoH (9/17/21)

Big Brother delivered an interesting season 23.  The house guests were smart, savvy and came to play.  Let me say to the Big Brother production team, kudos to the casting director.  You did an excellent job of finding people who wanted to play and not get a career from the show.  To the Big Brother executives who thought up teams, I have one question:  Why?  While the concept has been used before, this time it hid the tree amid the forest.  The Cookout succeeded because the house guests had their head so buried in team alliances that they kept playing teams after they ended.  If there is one thing that caused the Cookout to be successful, it was the team concept was lodged to much in Claire’s, Sarah Beth’s and Alyssa’s thoughts.  While good for the Cookout, it was bad for the others.  With Xavier, Kyland, Derek and Azah to fight it out, it comes down to which one wants it the most.

HoH Game Begins

With the exit of Hannah and Tiffany, Azah is left on her own.  She must beat three men to make it to the final.  While Azah has been in a big alliance, she’s been playing an invisible game.  Will that help her or hurt her.  Derek, on the other hand, just can’t win a competition while Xavier and Kyland have consistent wins.  Of those two, Kyland has a disadvantaged because he over-thinks and over-speaks every question asked and statement made.

After the recap and the sad reminder of Tiff’s and Hannah’s eviction, we get what happened afterward.  Diary Rooms are interested.  While Derek is happy that he got to stay, he knows that Xavier and Kyland are only loyal to each other.  Xavier tells us that he hated to see Hannah go but it was the best for his position in the house.  Kyland is Kyland and only thing I get from him is that doubles are notorious and whatever.  Azah wanted Hannah to stay and Kyland should have told her he planned to use the veto.  She feels like she’s been played.

Hannah before her exit could see the writing on the wall.  When Derek was put up beside her and the commercial happened, she talked to Kyland and Xavier and asked for their vote.  She reminds them they had said they wanted to go with a strong player, and she meets that bill.  Xavier told Kyland that Azah didn’t want it used but Kyland, as always, goes his own way and ticks off people (Azah and Derek).  Xavier does tell us in Diary Room that from now on, his every step must be calculated and perfect.  Even after the eviction, when Xavier and Kyland talk, Kyland wants only them to control everything.  Later Derek tells Xavier that he’s upset about the nominations and that neither Xavier or Kyland talked to him.  Xavier says Kyland’s using the Power of Veto raised a flag with Derek which isn’t good.

HoH Competition

The HoH will be based on CSI: Vegas (which I haven’t watched in years). Don’t ask me which actress was on the screen because I missed her name.  They will have five clues they must find which are hidden on the wall in a “museum”.  They must use a special light to find the clues.  Once they find a clue, they must match it to the correct graphic cards on the clue wall.  They must be careful because there are multiple suspect cards to choose from.  After they find all clues, they must ring in and see if they are correct.  If not, they must go back and check the clues again.  Derek is first, followed by Xavier and Kyland.  Kyland has problems finding the last clue.  With a time of 10:18, Xavier is the new Head of Household.

In Diary Room, Xavier doesn’t look happy.  Derek feels like he has lost.  He likes to be a leader but hasn’t been one this season.  Xavier walks through an empty bedroom saying “we needed to beat Kyland.”  Kyland, meanwhile, really wanted this one.  It’s surprising that Derek goes to comfort Kyland.  Meanwhile, Derek realizes it all comes down to the Power of Veto.

Xavier visits Azah and tells her she is going up.  Azah asks Xavier about a final two and he lies but does say maybe to Derek.  Of course, he’s lying.  Azah doesn’t know how she feels about Kyland and Xavier.  She knows that she and Derek will be separated by the end of the week.  Xavier’s noms will determine if she feels played.  With the talk with Derek, Xavier asks for trust.  From now, I’ll only put things of interest up in the one-on-ones because they are usually edged with lies.  Xavier knows that Derek could hurt him in jury.  Derek tells us that it hurts to think of sending home Kyland.  Derek puts it simply:  someone has to go.

Nominations

It’s time for nominations. Xavier’s choices are Azah and Kyland which surprises all.  Azah is up because she’s never been nominated.  Kyland was nominated for his wins.  The real power though lies in the POV  Azah is shocked that hitting the block could put her against Derek.  Derek realizes that his game is still in danger.  The veto is life and death.  Xavier knows this is what determines who makes it the final three.  Xavier says that Kyland needs to go this week and it’s the chance to do it.  Kyland tells us that game relies on winning PoV.  And I zoned out during his long winded speech.

How will win?  I will be unable to cover the PoV which is Wednesday at ten.  Special time so be sure and watch.

We had fall arrive yesterday with off and on storms.  The ones last night were supposed to be bad (but weren't) so I didn't recap.  I won't recap tomorrow either.

Big Brother #23 – And Soon There Are Three (9/23/21)

Sorry I missed last night. I’ve actually taped it but haven’t had the time to watch.  We were in and out of weather alerts all day and night.  I figure it is more of the Kyland’s woe story and I honestly lose his thoughts after his first line.

So how did we get here?  Let’s review.  The on-air premiere had the group divided into four teams of four members.  Frenchie won the HoH and made the promise that he wouldn’t nominate a PoC or a woman.  Unfortunately, it came down to one of his final two alliance (of which there were many), Travis, who left.  Unknown to Frenchie, the PoC (minus Derek X.) had formed a secret (silent) alliance called the Cookout which would eventually lead them to the final 12.  The six Cookout members took a “pawn” from their team to hide behind. Unfortunately (for the Jokers), Azah and Derek F. had to share Britini while Xavier had Christian and Alyssa.  And as the game continued, we came down to the Cookout final six.  With Tiffany ahd Hannah leaving, we have the final four of Xavier, Derek F., Azah and Kyland.  Xavier won both the HoH and PoV so nominated Kyland and Azah.  So who would go?  Well, Twitter and Facebook think Ky is leaving tonight.

Pre-Eviction Ceremony

Julie reminds us that Xavier is the Head of Household and has the Power of Veto but cannot be the sole vote to evict.  We get the recap with reminders of who promised who to take them to final two.  To me it is funny!  No one really trusts Kyland (or they’re tired of his overthinking and over-talking everything).  Xavier definitely wants Kyland to leave but Derek F. is having problems forgetting the deals with Kyland and Xavier.  Xavier, of course, is playing this best for himself.  And yes!  We have Jury House.

On Day 79, Julie welcomes us to Kyland’s Blindside.  Then the program gives us Big D and his dilemma.  As Derek goes back and forth, Kyland puts on the pressure to keep him.  Kyland uses the words, words, words and in Diary Room, the gist of his speech is ‘keep him and get Azah out.’  Derek asks: “is it worth having his best friend, Azah, leave against his showmance/friend, Kyland.  Hey Big D.!  You may think of Kyland as a showmance but I don’t think he does.  Azah tells it true.  Kyland is a gamer.  And Xavier, Derek and Azah talk and talk and talk about the Kyland eviction.  In Diary Room, Azah makes her wish to send Kyland out.  Oh Azah and Derek have had some --- er – verbal skirmishes.  And Azah tells us no one carried her to final four.  Actually, Azah, the group of six carried each other to the final six. You and Derek did the floating while others did the scheming.

Jury House

I’ve always said that at this point in the game, the 24/7 coverage should move to the Jury House.  Why, you may ask?  Because the final four/three are usually boring as the game play is very limited.  I also advocate for the show to cut the period between the final four and the finale in time.  They take the feeds down and nothing is going on (also in the past few years, people could care less who wins) so a reduction in days makes sense.

As the jury gather outside to greet the new person, they speculate on who is coming in next.  Alyssa wants answers since they know about the alliance.  Derek X. hopes it is Kyland but Tiffany arrives.  Tiffany admits that the men saw her as a threat.  Scared, Tiffany is happy to be able to reveal the Cookout’s mission to jury.  As they watch the video, Alyssa is shocked about the three HoHs in a week. Tiffany admits that she had a final three with Kyland and he had to have the votes to get her out to make the move.  Tiffany thinks that the three guys had something going.  Ky wouldn’t send her out because they had a deal.  And Claire says “Kyland’s got a lot of blood on his hands” and worried about whether to vote for him because of his game or the blood on his hands.

Tiffany explains the surprise of what happened when she walked in the house.  She saw so many like her and realized never that there had never been an African-American winner.  It began as an understanding and then the Cookout emerged.  The six agreed to do their part to get the six to the end with Tiffany doing the master plan.  This surprises all that she was the mastermind.  She explains the pawn plan and Claire calls it iconic which will make Tiffany a master of the game.  They all admit they were out-played.  Tiffany tells that each of the six gave up what they wanted and best for their game for the overall purpose of the mission.  She tells us that they respected the other jurors.  Then Tiffany drops the double eviction bombshell.

Next up is the arrival of Hannah.  She is still in shock because it happened so fast.  Tiffany gives her a hug and wonders what happened.  Tiffany confirms to us that she and Hannah were interchangable.  They get down to the show with Azah winning, putting up Xavier and Hannah, and Kyland getting the PoV.
Hannah said that she and Azah made a deal but Ky ruined it.  She had to win the veto or be gone.  When Ky took Xavier down, she knew she was gone.  Sarah says it is a  waste of Azah’s game.  Hannah said Ky couldn’t look at her.  Tiffany is now sure the guys are working together and thinks Azah will be the next juror.  Derek X. says if it comes down to Kyland or Xavier in the final two, he’s not voting for Xavier.  Sarah still shows she is bitter but likes Kyland.  Hannah is rooting for Azah to win the game.

Live Veto Meeting and Eviction

Julie asks what will happen and will Ky see it coming?  Xavier is asked whether he is going to use the veto or leave the nominations in place.  He stands and announces he will not use the veto.  Both can plead their case.  Azah makes her plea thanking God for letting her play the game.  She asks Derek to look at them, two Jokers who cried, cook and laughed and made it to final four.  She’s glad she found a true best friend and being on the East Coast know they will see each other (Julie thanks her for giving God the glory.)  Ky is thankful for being in the game with them and wants to stay.  Now Derek must cast the sole vote to evict.  Derek tells them that he loves both.  From the game level, he played the game for himself.  He cast his vote to evict (not evote) Kyland.

Kyland isn’t happy and not going out quietly.  He and Xavier have words.  Derek tells him from the game point of view, he can’t beat Kyland.  By now, I’m yelling:  “Kyland, please leave.”  He’s trying to argue his way into staying.  The other houseguests have gracefully exited but it takes Julie ordering Kyland out to the stage multiple times for him to leave.

Interview with Julie

As Kyland leaves, Azah thanks the guys for keeping her.  Julie asked if he was surprised that Derek evicted him.  I think Kyland said that he was surprised but not surprised (double talk again).  Julie asks Ky about the pre-Veto event with Derek.  Kyland says he wouldn’t give Derek the assurance because he would lying (Julie gives him the words). Kyland doesn’t see it as lying and off he goes on another tangent.  Julie asks if the final two agreement with Xavier was the one he would honor.  He talks about the “gentlemen” but Kyland goes off on representation and I didn’t get his true feelings.  Julie asks about Xavier not using veto on him.  Kyland says he understands it but I didn’t get anything out of the rest of the speech.  Julie asks about Derek’s vote.  Kyland said Derek wouldn’t have done it without all agreeing.

Azah in her message says that she hopes they can be friends outside of house.  Derek said that the veto meeting was what sent him home.  Xavier said Kyland was too competitive and Xavier made an early agreement to take Derek F. to the finale.  Kyland looks a little surprised.  Now Kyland is asking to return next year.  Please producers no.  We can’t take another year of him talking all the time.

America Favorite Player

America’s Favorite Houseguest will win $50,000.  To vote for your favorite, text the houseguests’s name to 97979.

Friday will be a special episode with family’s video and the recap show.  Tuesday’s show will be competitions and Wednesday at 9:00 will be a two hour finale.  Julie’s last words to us:  “Love one another.”  In the Big Brother house, champagne is poured and the final three toast.

 Brother #23 – The Final Three  (9/26/21(

Big Brother 23 has been one of the most enjoyable seasons on record.  It’s the only time an alliance of People of Color has made it to the final six.  Now three of them are sitting ready to take on each other to see who can win it all.  What is more important is the fact that this season’s cast became friends.  They kept the house live feeds most interesting, had very few fights, and showed what true strategy is.  In my mind, they could teach the Survivor cast how it’s done.  But enough of this, let’s get on with the show.

After the Eviction

Okay!  Have we ever had an exit like that from the Big Brother show? Have we ever seen that much discussion as someone exited.  Sure, we have had someone walk out over the table and barefoot, but Id do not recall someone who stood there and argued like he thought lodging a protest would allow him to stay.  Let’s give Julie Chen Moonves a big Big Brother appreciation clap of our hands for getting Kyland out of the house before blows were thrown.

Julie is on stage and welcomes us to Big Brother.  After the recap that reminds us that Kyland left (and we didn’t get a repeat of the drama), we get down to the HoH competition.  Xavier, Azah and Big D makes it to the finale.  But first, we get a retrospective of how Xavier, Azah and Derek got to this stage of final three.

Xavier’s Road to the Final Three

Xavier is first.  Just remember, he claimed to be a bartender but was a lawyer.  Xavier didn’t want to be seen as a threat and he didn’t want distractions (showmance).  He built alliances with Derek on day one then Frenchie with Slaughterhouse and Royal Flush.  His loyalty though was to the Cookout because the goal was important.  He felt that Big Brother needed to crown an African American winner.  He tried to be strategic and take “one” for the team (or several losses for the team).  For Xavier, trustworthiness was important.

Let’s not forget that Xavier made power moves.  He nominated and got Brent out.  He was four times on the block.  While he regretted losing Alyssa, he had to do it to keep the Cookout together to the final six.  He used Kyland to get Tiffany out and got Hannah out because she was Tiffany’s right-hand person.  During the final four, Xavier won both the HoH and the Veto which ensured that Kyland left.  Kyland was a threat, so he had to go.  Xavier shares that he lost his brother shortly before coming in the house.  He promised his brother that he would take care of his brother’s son.  He playing to have the money to do this.

Azah’s Road to the Final Three

Azah’s path wasn’t an easy one to the final three.  She came in and wanted to be strong but soon realized that it wasn’t going to be easy.  She realized the comps were hard and there were many big personalities in the house.  Azah realized that she needed social game and became part of alliances, the Jokers and Cookout.  Now, she is glad she didn’t win early comps because her “hands are clean.”  Keeping a low profile allowed Azah to build genuine relationships that will continue outside the house.

Azah always wanted to be honest with people.  This honesty made her call-out fellow Cookout members when she didn’t agree with their game play (Tiffany and Derek X. stacking Britini’s cards so she lost).  Once the group had made the final six, Azah felt that she could serve as a role model for other PoC children and show them that they can be/do anything they set their minds to do.

Derek’s Road to the Final Three

Derek Frazier is the son of Smoking Joe Frazier, a famous boxer.  Derek came into the house to be dominant and “tear the house apart.”  He wanted to represent the PoC and the “big people” out in the world.  Derek knew he had to play a social game and make people laugh but he needed allies so he built those with Frenchie (who he loves) and Xavier (final two) and Kyland (final two).  His real best friend, though, was Azah, who he felt close to as a fellow Joker at first and a real friend as the game progressed.

While Derek didn’t win competitions, he felt he didn’t need them because he could align with whoever was HoH.  He wanted to be the first “black winner of BB” (I typed that as he said it folks) and made the claim to forming the Cookout.  He saw his role as the one to keep them together and to hide the group from the other house guests outside of the alliance.  While he had arguments (with Tiffany), he did serve as the one to keep them together and running smoothly.  He evicted Kyland because Kyland became a target.  This and his personality should help Derek make it to the final two and win the show.  By the way he wants to win for him mom.

HoH Part One.

Each of the house guests are sitting on a “boat” (I see it as a float).  It works like a bouncing bull seen in bar movies. The game is called “Bounce Back Boat” with the final person on their boat winning part one.  While the boat rocks up and down/back and forth, the sea creatures rain down and water falls.  Derek gets hit by a plastic shark during the game.  Each find it hard to hold on.  Each is wondering how their play will influence final two.  Derek feels either of the other two would take him to the finals.  In Diary Room Derek refuses to leave anyone in charge of his game.  Xavier tells us he wants to win because it guarantees he will be in part three and he wants to win.  It won’t be easy and he has his work cut out for him.  Azah tells us she doesn’t want to “blow” this competition.  Derek has trouble, makes noise while playing, and is the first off.  While Azah is hanging on and wants to win, she’s the second one off.  Xavier wins part one.

Azah and Big D will face off for part two and the winner will go against Xavier.  Azah feels she can go against Derek and beat him.  As the group get ready to go in, Derek starts playing with a toy shark.  Before you know it, Xavier is also.  In the house, Derek and Xavier shake and discuss the next stage.  Derek hopes to win the next comp and go against Xavier in part three.  Meanwhile Xavier thinks of the people who have left.  Azah and Derek discuss the game on the couch counting juror votes and apparently having a fight.  Even though they get mad, they get over it.  They give each other pep talks.  Azah tells us that she is nervous, and no one has her back.  She must win so she has a better chance of winning it all.

On Wednesday, we will get a two-hour show.  It will be live and include the last comp live, jury with Kyland, and all coming back for the finale.  (Of course, comp two and jury will have to be taped).  Remember to vote for America’s Favorite House Guest and the $50,000 prize.  To vote, text the name of the house guest you want to win $50,000 by texting their name to 97979.    One vote per day (so no robo voting).

Big Brother #23 – And the End of a Good Season

Big Brother 23, let me start by saying thank you!  You finally, after more years than I want to discuss, gave us an interesting season.  Not only did we have a cast that enjoyed themselves, but we only had one showmance, game play that no one saw, and an alliance of six that made it to the final six.  Of course, there was controversy.  Many on Twitter wasn’t happy with the Cookout alliance but if you look back through history, this one has finally given us many firsts.  We did have an exit with Kyland that got messy, but I believe everyone who watched Big Brother was expecting it.  I don’t know who was in charge of the casting, but please let them do it again.  We got an intelligent lot with most knowing the game.  That made it so much better.  And if there are typos tonight, remember!  This is a two hour episode I’m trying to get up in an hour.

Round One to Xavier, Round Two Goes to ...

Julie reminds us that one of Xavier, Azah or Derek F. will win the $750,000.  After the recap of the entire history of the Cookout (and a reminder that Xavier promised to take Derek to the end), Derek evicts Kyland and Xavier wins part one.

Julie tells us that 85 days have passed.  The second round of the HoH competition is called “Four of a Kind Slots” and looks like a huge slot machine.  They have to use their feet to line up the answers to the questions with four people who answers the questions.  Once a questions is correct, they get their next question.  It’s tough and both Azah and Derek (BIg D) have problems.  While Azah doesn’t get the answers right, Big D has problems with his knees and gets hurt.   In the end, Azah beats Big D with a better time (Azah 13:19, Big D. 20:22).  Big D did try to use his father’s fights with Mohammad Ali as inspiration.  He tells us in Diary Room that he did the best that he could. Azah celebrates in the Diary Room and is ready to take on Xavier for the money.

After the competition, Big D is upset because he didn’t do well.  He’s also worried that Azah is infatuated with Xavier (but not in a showmance way due to Xavier’s choice).  He’s getting very paranoid.  It doesn’t help when Azah asks him who he wants to set next to in the finale.  And they fight and disagree.  This seems to have been the tone during the last few days.  Xavier is happy even though he’s often caught in the middle.  One thing Azah seems to forget is that she hasn’t won!  My thoughts is that neither Big D or Azah did much during the early weeks.  They both seemed to fall in love with the bedroom and their separate beds.  Xavier does tell us that the more they argue, the better chance it will be for Xavier to be in the finale versus Azah.  But what will Xavier do if he wins?  (Oh, and Big D’s biggest regret is taking Kyland out.)  They do (as always make up.)  Azah tells us that she is confused and doesn’t want to lose Big D. (Derek) as a friend.

The Jury House Greets Kyland

The group is waiting for the next juror to arrive.  They debate who will be next and Tiffany hopes it is not Kyland.  People want it to be Xavier but really don’t see surprised to see Kyland.  After Tiffany asks him “what happened,” Kyland lets it fly and tells them that Big D was the one to evict him.  Then, they get down to how to determine the winner.  Tiffany says they must look at strategy, social lgame, etc.  Xavier had the relationships but he was always guarded and playing the game (per Claire).  Kyland lets it be known that Xavier threw competitions.  Tiffany adds that Xavier never had “heavy conversations” or game talk.  Big D and Azah flew under the radar.  Azah had relationships outside of the Cookout and was good at making relationships with people she liked.  It’s going to be hard for Azah if she sits next to Big D.  Big D. had a social game.  Derek X. jokes that they share the same name.  Big D talked a lot and disguised the Cookout from Sarah Beth (and others).  He hasn’t win competitions.  It was not because of strategy because he couldn’t.  TIffany sees that he gave the game his best and his will power cannot be overlooked.  Kyland is talking about winning competitions and Claire rolls his eyes.  Kyland has now apparently made the jury mad and Tiffany says he’s insulted Hannah.  Kyland sees Big D and Hannah as interchangable.  Britini makes the point it’s going to be determined on how they answer the juror’s question.  Wait!  No Dr. Will Kirby this year.  Well, it’s probably due to Covid.

The Final HoH

This will be a question/answer game called “Houseguest Headliners.”  They have to look at headlines and three statements.  One statement is a lie.  After viewing the video about the juror, they must choose which is the lie.  I don’t think studying this would have necessarily helped.  Azah is nervous and she misses the first question.  At the end, Xavier beats her by one question.  (And a question to readers:  How do you like how “buff” they made Derek X. look.)

Xavier gives each a chance to make a plea.  Big D reminds him that they bonded day one and he’s had his back since the start of the game.  Azah tells Xavier that she appreciates his game and thanks him for starting the Cookout (that’s three that takes credit for that!).  Xavier is told that he’s guaranteed at least $75,000 and must decide who to evict.  It’s the different between big money and second place.  He chooses to evict Azah and she joins Julie on stage.

Azah and Julie

As they watch, Big D. cries and thanks Xavier while Xavier grins and tells him Xavier has had Derek. Big D. can’t believe his luck and says this proves anything can happen.  Julie asks Azah how she feels and she is upset.  She knew the first question but overthought it.  She doesn’t regret anything.  When asked who she would have taken to the final two, she says Xavier because he did visible things in the game.  Against Big D., she didn’t have a chance.  With Xavier, she would have gotten votes but it would be close.  Julie congratulates her on making history (Cookout).  Azah’s final thoughts are that she’s still trying to process everything.  She knows she messed up and wonders what the purpose for her being in the house was.  She knows there is a reason and she can’t wait to find out what it was.  Julie tells her that “God has a plan.”

Jury Questions Begin

Jury is now on the stage and Julie calls them rowdy and asks who they think is the final juror.  Sarah Beth hopes it is Derek but it’s Azah which seems to surprise them all.  They welcome her.  They’re told that Xavier as the last HoH and chose Derek F. But now it’s time for juror questions to the two.

The first question is Kyland who asks Xavier what is the most important factor to crowing the first African-American Big Brother.  Xavier says he never got personal.  He did lie and hopes he didn’t disrespect anyone.  To him, he played the best game.

Britini asks Big D. what decisions he made on his own.  Big D. tells them that he started the Cookout.  He went to HoH to protect the Cookout every week.

Alyssa asks Xavier what his biggest mistake was.  Xavier feels that it was watching her leave.  He doesn’t really regret anything.

Hannah asks Big D whether he was only in it for fame.  Big D. tells her that he wanted to be on television and help his mom and had made that clear throughout the game.

Derek X. asks Xavier what move he made that the jury didn’t know.  Xavier admitted to throwing two competitions because of the Cookout.  He talked around that answer though.

Sarah Beth goes to Big D and asks what he contributed to get to the final six.  He tells her any time there was an HoH won, he was in their ear to benefit the Cookout.  If something had to be executed, he made it happened (even if the Cookout didn’t like it).

Azah asks Big D what he did to deserve the $750,000 more than Xavier.  Big D tells her he gave it his all.  He didn’t think of himself but the rest of the Cookout.  He made himself a pawn (to protect the Cookout).  Big D. showed everyone his heart (and I’ll give him that).

The final pleas are made.  The winner will be the first African- American champion of Big Brother.  Big D says he deserve the prize and he came in wanting to be the first African-American winner.  He tried to win comps but couldn’t.  He knew he wanted to start the alliance of six.  Xavier tells all that he played a team game because he had to do that to get everyone to jury.  He won when he needed and gives his credentials. If length of speech counts, Xavier wins.

Jurors cast their votes.  They will vote one at a time and insert the key with the name that should win Big Brother.  Of course, they congratulate the two as they cast their votes.  (Of all the jurors, I think Sarah Beth is still bitter.)  Kyland, of course, has to give a long-winded speech.  Azah makes a joke about not evicting and scares Julie.

The rest of the evicted house guests join remotely.  They’re as rowdy as the jurors.  Julie says that they saw what America saw and talks about the Cookout.  Christian found out as soon as he got home.  He says that the Cookout is the greatest alliance in BB history.  When you put a bigger purpose in the game, history can be made.  Julie says “unity,”and Christan says yes!  Xavier said Christian said it perfectly but Big D and Kyland nodded.  Brent was most surprised by Tiffany and thought all she did was hair and braids.  He was surprised by her undercover game.  He gave her credit and didn’t see it coming.    Julie asks TIffany if she ever thought the plan wasn’t going to work.  Tiffany admits that she did and it really hurt when she had to evict Claire.  She admitted that the other strong people in the Cookout told her that she had to do it.  Julie then asks Derek X. if he knew about this when he was in the house and was only a pawn in the master plan.  Derek X. says he didn’t know he was played.  He had only seen two seasons.

The house guests’ secrets are revealed.  Julie shows the clips of Hannah saying she’s a protegee, Sarah Beth revealing her job, Claire and math, and Britini’s black belt.  Claire is asked about which surprises her the most and she tells all that it is Hannah.  Of course, the Cookout is the biggest.

Big D is then asked to share his secret and Xavier does “the Thinking Man” pose while Big D stands.  Derek F. tells them that his lifestyle and other things he said was true.  What he hid was that he was the youngest son of “Smoking” Joe Frazier.  Xavier gets up, smiling, and jumps in his face laughing.  Derek F. was afraid that the house guests would think he came from money, but he doesn’t.  Xavier says you think you know a man.  Derek tried to cover up the Frazier tattoo. Xavier says he still would have taken him to the final two.

Now it turns to Xavier about his occupation and Derek props his chin and says, “oh yes.”  Xavier tells all that most of what he said is true.  He has done bartending at wedding.  He omitted that he’s a college basketball player and a fully licensed attorney and Derek F. gets back at him with the fact that Derek F. guessed it.  Julie admits they have that on tape from an early episode.

Britini has asked to share something on stage.  She stands and announces that she did have a black belt but now she wanted to reveal a secret she kept from the house guests.  At 22, Britini was diagnosed with autism. She didn’t want any of them to think that she was anything but Britini.  She’s much more than her disability and is so proud of her Big Brother journey.  Derek X. hugs her while Derek F. wipes tears and Tiffany and others around her take her hand or hug her.

Kyland is asked about the exit confrontation which he still doesn’t regret what he said.  Xavier tells him that he shouldn’t have made it personal by bringing up his nephew.  Xavier says that it is a game after all.

Hannah is asked about her feelings when she left the house on day 65.  Hannah said while it was a shock.  When she opened the door, she knew it was one of the happiest moments of her life because the Cookout (and she) had made history.  She was so proud of being a part of the alliance.

And the winner of this year’s Big Brother is Xavier by a unanimous vote.  Xavier and Big D. hug and Julie tells them to come out.  Big D does hang back and let Xavier have his moment in the confetti.  Xavier’s parents/family/friends are watching live.  Hugs and celebration ensue.  Kyland and Xavier have a word (but I think there will be more).  Tiffany consoles Azah.

American Favorite came down to Derek X. and Tiffany as the two top vote getters.  Tiffany wins.  Tiffany thanks America and tells her son that the money is all hers.  Xavier is asked how he feels.  He’s thrilled.  He loves all.  Xavier gets $750,000.  BIg D. gets $75,000 (plus what he won at comps).  Derek F. wants
the money to change his mom’s life and will do so.  He thanks the Cookout.

As the show ends, Julie thanks all the house guests for a wonderful season (and I agree whole heartedly).  She announces that you can apply for Big Brother next summer (please use the same casting director).  Then she announces Celebrity Big Brother will return in February.  She will see us then!

Yep! Good season, but fairly predictable that Xavier would win I think. And he deserved it. He played a cool, calm and collected game. I loved the variety of characters this year. Looking forward to Celebrity BB!
