Title: WEATHER
Post by: bacali on October 28, 2012, 03:57:02 PM
I'm starting a new topic...WEATHER..so that we can keep each other up to date  and stay in touch now during our current Hurricane Sandy storm, but, also , generally during the year.

Right now... most of us here in NJ are nervous and waiting. They are calling "Hurricane Sandy" the perfect storm, and historic   :smiley_confused1:  That means really bad.
I was watching a news cast earlier and this weather man was saying ...this is the kind of storm that a meteologist dreams of... with 3 fronts converging. Some NEVER ever see this kind in their lifetime. This is enough to have me worried. ...because we had it very bad last yr. I was lucky..."little sister" , here... wasn't. She lost her whole finished basement.
They say "Sandy" is over 100 miles wide.  and will last for 48 hours, at least. This rain stalled over us along with what they call a storm "surge" ... means alot of terrible flooding.
Verizon has already emailed me... and warned ... about outages...so, I will be really lucky to not lose power this time. They say ..if we do ...could be for over a week... which would make me go crazy.
We have done everything we could do ... we took in all the outside furniture... put even plants and pumpkins in the garage.
My husband has blown the gutters now for 2 days. ... so the rain doesn't back up..next to the house.
My daugher is thrilled. Her in laws arrived at noon today...they were evacuated from the shore town of Manahawkin. Last yr they stayed with her for 4-5 days!!
I live about 30...45 min from Manhattan , and all transportion ...in and out of NYC is suspended starting later tonight.
Atlantic City casinos close this afternoon.
Our town and my husband's fire dept ...had emergency meetings and have all their equipment ready..and boats for evacuation ready...since our town borders the Passaic River.  So....
It is supposed to start raining tonight...but, gradually ...through the night...into tomorrow afternoon get really bad....the worst being Tues. night into Wed.
If you don't see me post right here... you know... I can't.  Otherwise...I will keep you up to date with what's going on.
We are all a family here , all good friends...so I know we in NJ...and like wise up the coast...like sherylk in R. Is...and Court...many of us may be effected. We know that you in other areas are wondering about us...so ... here is the thread to post on now ...to keep us all together and up to date.
Let's all just say a little prayer for everyone in the path of this storm...that we all stay safe.   :88:

Its supposed to affect a lot of Ontario which is where Smarties and I both are. Its supposed to reach as far as Quebec

Yes, I heard this... that is why it's such a bad storm.
If it reaches you , in Canada, and I heard all the way to Pittsburgh ,where cak lives.. can you just imagine how hard we , in NJ may get hit?
Gee, if we all lose power.... Snowbird and ponytail will be  "home alone" ...here...for awhile.    :sign0085:

All you buzzers stay safe.  That is the main thing.  The storm has affected us here in Georgia by turning cold and very windy so we are lucky.  My prayers are with all of you and I hope none of you lose power or get flooded.  Bacali, do you have heat when the power is off?  I hate when the power is off, even for a little while.  We have gone days without power and it sure is NO picnic.
Hugs to all you ladies. :88:

This is a good idea bacali. I think of all of you when I see the weather reports. It will give us a place to check for any of your updates. I continue to pray for your safety and that of everyone back there... :88:

You bet, I'll be praying for all in danger. In Pgh, we're just supposed to be getting high winds and flooding (from the creeks and rivers)--nothing like the flooding from the ocean surges. I'm not in an area that floods.  Bacali-I just heard on the Weather Channel that they have evacuated Cape May! All the stores will be closed, so there won't be any supplies for anyone left behind.
We've just had rain and light wind here all day. The said on the WC that if the power goes out, the food in your fridge will be good for 4 hours, the food in the freeezer will be okay for 48 hrs.  :o
Title: Re: WEATHER
Post by: bacali on October 29, 2012, 12:16:42 AM
Cak... that's the point for closing everything with a mandatory evacuation....NO ONE should be left there, in Cape May...and no one should go outof their home, if they are stupid enough to ignor these evacuation warnings.
Mandatory evacuations can't force people to leave ... but, they have said on all the channels that if you do stay... and get in trouble...that they may NOT be able to come help you. It will totally depend on how dangerous it is for the responders.
I don't ever think that this has happened...but, this is a first with this storm.
They have said that we have not or never will ever experience a storm like this in our lifetime.
The surge/or walls of water will cover most of Cape May with floods....so I wouldn't worry about whether "there are supplies for those left behind". Those left behind will be lucky to have just lived through this ...the way they are warning us.
Just imagine, though, if Pittsburgh is going to have high winds and flooding and you are that far away...what Cape May and the rest of NJ is going to get.
So..nope... no shopping for supplies...  :88:

They are calling for it to hit us tonight. Its supposed to last until sometime Tuesday.

They are now saying Southern Ontario is gonna be hit bad by it and to expect to be out of power for up to 72 hours should it go out. I live in Southern Ontario  :91:

Its already starting to get windy here. I'm not sure if I will have power or loose it. You can email me if you need something.

Hi everyone..
How did everyone make out during the storm? Did you lose power? Any damage?
We (in massachusetts) lost power yesterday at 5pm and don't expect it back until ATLEAST tomorrow...but thankfully, NO DAMAGE. I hope everyone else here is safe and sound!

Title: Re: WEATHER
Post by: bacali on October 31, 2012, 02:17:28 PM
Hi, Im finally backkkkkk!! Thank God!!!! I missed you all so much.
I hope I never have to live through another hurricane again...ever.
Oh boy, is there a lot of damage...all over. I, personally, am so lucky. I lost power on Monday and just got everything back within the last hour. We haven't any house flooding or damage. Just unfortunately, my lovely maple tree which had just changed to a brilliant yellow and red.... the leaves are almost all off. I never got to see it at all....but, this is so insignificant.
This "Sandy" was deceiving. We have had storms that seemed to have a lot more rain. We had some rain, and of course,"very" windy....so much so , that I was afraid to stay on my top floor. ..because of trees.
Right now, I am listening to a tragic story.  In Staten Is.  A mom in her car ...the water came up so fast, she got out of her car with her two small children ,2 & 4 and the children were swept from her arms. They have a rescue out for them.... for 6 hours... no power , nor electricity ...there... and so far can't find them. Also, looking at houses for possible people trapped. Such a tradegy.
Most of the people I hear from listening to the radio....were killed by falling trees.
So, I stayed in the living room and .... finally went to our family room in the cellar.. with some candles, and flameless candles and flashlights and a radio...when it got dark
But, even though there wasn't a lot of raining...it was already flooding our town early Monday morning because of the surges and high tides... and this 'perfect storm" scenario. The ocean was being pushed with 15 foot walls of water inland to all the rivers... with a ripple effect inland. So,the massive flooding.
My husband finally came home ...around 11 and I felt a little better, so we took all the flameless candles and brought them upstairs..to the bedroom.
By  then, the winds ( Monday night) had let down...so I listed to the radio... and felt a little connected to the outsde world.
Because with the power out ... no tv, telephone, computer... and, the cell phones weren't all working. ..too many people on them...with the emergency. It was terrible...LOL..The phones still aren't all working... they are "all circuits busy"  , it says when trying to make a call
So, I'm back.. but, oh boy... if you have seen the news... !! The NJ shore is forever changed.
My daughter, Kathy, had her in-laws arrive at her house Sunday at noon. She lives in Central NJ, and they live in a shore community and we all don't know...if there is anything for them to go back to. Of course, no one is allowed in any of these towns, yet,.... there were houses ON the highways.
A tree fell on her house and cut her power on Mon. She still doesn't have any. Stressed with the inlaws and 3 kids home.
I heard from my son... that my nephew ( little sister's son) had a tree down in his yard. ( I will try to call her now that I have a phone).
Neighboring towns are so flooded... they are even today ...just getting around to evacuating people.
So "Sandy" is over...and..
I'm relieved to see all our little family has checked in...and I am really happy to be back with you.  :88:
Title: Re: WEATHER
Post by: bacali on November 02, 2012, 01:45:40 AM
What a day , today was. Here I was so "up" yesterday when I finally had all my power on and all my conveniences back....but, wow... what an awakening... today.
I hadn't spoken to my sister , and thought her call around about to others yesterday worrying about me...meant that she was fine. She was calling others about me, and we never got to talk together.
Well, she did better than last yr with a flooded basement, but, was going into her 3rd day without power. She finally was able to contact me this morning.
My nephew, her older son, had a tree fall down and hit his house and he lost power, so with two little girls ..5 and 2, he took off to Westchester, Pa... where his office is.
My sister , who was on a phone, powered by their generator..was leaving this morning to follow. She couldn't take another day or night in the dark and with no hot water.
Next, my daughter is still coping with her in-laws...at her house, and decided with her husband to go check out how his parent's house fared. Well, good news...it's still standing.. but... full of 2 feet of water and sand.
She and my son in law spent today taking up rugs and trying to salvage what they could for his parents.
A boat was on the front lawn! God only knows when these people will have a home. And, she told me that they don't have the kind of insurance that pays for them to be housed in a hotel. So ??
Now, all around me in my town.. and I am not like these "in-laws"in a short communiyy.. I am inland... all--- ALL... the towns are flooded. When I say ..flooded. I mean Flooded!!! The only way the people leave their houses...are by boats. And they are still evacuating ...today!!
There is no power, no ... anything.
These poor people are left , some of them, with nothing!
The generators they bought after hurricane Irene last yr... they can't run because there is absolutely no gasoline .. NONE.
If you find a station with any....the lines are ..I can't even explain...how long.
And, there are two lines.. one for cars, and one for cans ( for these generators).
My son,Bobby,  Liam's dad.... his father in law.. was flooded last yr by Irene.. so he bought a generator, too.
However, he bought a "natural" gas generator... he wouldn't need gasoline.. Well, the water in our town where he is ...got so deep, it not only blew out the side wall of the Elks club, across the street... but.. Public Service turned OFF this gas. So... yup, his generator didn't work...he got flooded again...ruining  2 gas water heaters and washer/dryers... ( it's a two family home)... these all gone...again...and were brand new.
All day long, now that "I" have power, all there is on tv is storm coverage. Watching one story unfold after another and seeing the absolute despair and destruction ... it gets to you.
Each one is sadder than the next...but, a young mother with her two small children in a car... all of a sudden with water rushing at her... on a normal street with houses... got out... and as she put down the 4 yr old and reached to get the 2 yr old... both children were swept from her by rushing flood water..... just brings tears to my eyes. They searched all day yesterday, and found those little angels today... and now they are actual angels.
I got an email... joking from my own cousin who live in Ga. He hadn't any idea what we are going through up here
In some ways , it's as bad as Katrina.
I saw ..and not too far from me. .. on tv.. some people who haven't eaten in 2 days and have no power or water. One woman said that the Red Cross gave her a big bag....of Skittles!! Yes.. you read correctly. Skittles.
She said.."what a joke".
Well, I have gotten it out of my systen..here... to my friends...sorry.
We had our little fella here today... and I was busy... thank goodness. But, when I stop and watch and think of so many, many people effected...I just wonder ...where do they start? How do they go on?
I am so happy to be back here...as I said yesterday.. and so lucky ... and blessed.
Please, all my friends.. say some prayers for all these so unfortunate people.  :88:

Bacali--words fail me, I sit in comfort and safety watching all of this play out on tv, sorrowing for all those who have lost everything. So much I wish I could do, share, shoulder--you will certainly be getting my prayers for strength for you and yours, and the Red Cross will be getting a donation from me as well. Take care my friend.

So. .how HOT is the temp where you live today? Ours is teetering on the 100 degree mark...and that's not the temp/humidity index ..which is about 108.( which they say is what it feels like).
I had a terminex man here yesterday because the ants are finding it too uncomfortable to live outdoors and have decided to occupy my bathroom now...a few weeks ago it was my kitchen... and this man was born and raised in Jamaica....this island.
He complained about the heat. When I said...huh??? You lived in Jamaica...a tropical island. ..he said.. "well, it wasn't this hot. No humidity there".
So....go figure!!! NJ has it all. The hottest of summers and the most miserable of winters...and in the nicer Fall weather....the hurricanes!!!
What's the name of that new planet they just discovered......  :smiley_confused1:

The storm is ranking as one of the top Blizzards on record.
Right now we have 2 and a half feet of snow and it's not supposed to stop for hours.
I can't even push open my doors, it's so high. Someone, from the outside will have to dig us out.
We are on a state of emergency and no one is allowed on any roads or they will be arrested.
I can't stand it. I feel trapped....especially since my hubby is so weak. God forbid I need to call anyone for help.

How I long for a nice sunny Spring day. The temp is so erratic. One minute we have frigid, record breaking temp....then with in  24 hours the temp goes up almost 40 degrees and snows while doing this.....but, then turns to rain.
Today is another dismal day....around 39.
I need some  -flowergrowing- right now to perk me up.

Worst summer weather ever! Hot, hot, hot (over 100) several days last week, followed by torrential downpours, followed by overcast gloomy skies, followed by beautiful weather for a couple of hours (4th of July evening luckily), followed by clammy, muggy ugly days you could hardly breathe, followed by quick moving dangerous thunderstorm that blew down branches and overturned anything not nailed down, followed today by more muggy, heavy weather. Honestly, we've had about 4 hrs of good weather in the last couple of weeks.

I hear you loud and clear, bacali.

It is strange weather here.  We can have 90s and no humidity and nice days or 90s and miserable weather.  The thunderstorms are strange (more like August than July) and I swear the trees are turning.  We have fawns that have lost their spots and new ones being born.  I think the earth is out of kilter. Oh and I saw a bobcat during the thunder storm on Thursday here.

How is everyone dealing with this heat? I, personally , hate it this hot.
Yesterday the humidity along with the temperature was so bad that it's unhealthy to go outdoors.
They say it's feels like 105 and over and I believe them. With this humidity , it's hard to breathe.
I think I'd rather have it cold as long as we didn't have snow.
And, God forbid we lose electricity...........I don't want to even think this.
So everyone...think cool..... :49:

When he finally says..he is going to go water the grass. I now say..not to bother with the grass . Just do the flowers we spent so much money and time into doing.
I can't wait until I can shut  off the air conditioners and OPEN up my windows to cooler fresh air.

Well a new weather term has been coined--rain bomb. We have been experiencing lots of those this month here at my home and in the surrounding area. A rain bomb is a sudden dump of rain in a very short period of time, causing streets and homes to flood since the drainage systems can't keep up. Very strange this time of year. Have you heard this term yet? It's new to me, anyway!
Title: Re: WEATHER
Post by: bacali on August 16, 2017, 02:00:28 AM
Nope , it's a new term for me, too.
My husband makes me laugh, ...he's always saying ...when I ask about the weather.... that we are going to have /or just had...a "pop up storm" . It's gotten to be a joke.
Maybe this is the same type of storm....just not named that around here, yet.
I shall now listen for this new term....."rain bomb". I don't really like the name , though....being the temperament in the country, at the moment.

"Rain bomb" is new to me too. Our weather has been very strange here for August. It is usually the hottest
month of summer. But we have been having very cool weather. It goes to low 60's in the evenings and with
a nice breeze. We could use a little more rain than what we are getting, but hopefully no rain bombs! :051bye:

Title: Re: WEATHER
Post by: ponytail on August 16, 2017, 02:01:36 PM
It is very, very scary. The weather extremes are very disturbing. We also had another peculiar weather form called a micro burst. It is an extremely strong straight line wind that does lots of damage in it's short path, almost tornado like. We had one earlier this summer. It did very strange damage. It took one of my heavy deck chairs and dropped it in the yard, but my potted geraniums weren't even ruffled. Same thing downtown, where many of the business had roofs blown off or damaged, but fragile things weren't even bothered. Yoiks!

In the last five years, I have heard terms I  have never heard before.  Hit and miss showers are common here as is the term "gully" washer.   Two new terms I've heard.

Landocane -- a force of wind that moves from the plains to the East Coast.  Strong winds like a hurricane that last minutes.
Grapel -- I hope I spelled that right.  It's not sleet (too big).  It's not hail.  It's small pellets of ice that come during cold weather.

OH NO...... -snowplop-   SNOW!!!
How is "Santa" supposed to do his shopping? There's so much more to do.
But , LOL, my husband is thanking me for telling him to do our outside lights when the weather was mild a few weeks ago.
They had forecast some snow....a dusting, and this wasn't too bad. Now, of course, another front has come around from who knows where and now we have been given a time schedule. The weather people LOVE this.
So, tomorrow from 6am-to 1 pm we get "light snow", then from 1pm-8pm "steadier " snow and then 8 pm to 1 am the snow will be "tapering" down!!!
But, then....who knows. Maybe another front will blow it away??  #4846

We got our first "dusting" of snow tonight around midnight. In some spots,
it had covered the roads and was blowing like crazy and some spots were still bare.
Not sure what I will wake up to tomorrow but I plan on staying inside all day and
getting work done around the house and wrapping presents and writing out my
Christmas cards. :a035:

I have heard the term grapple here in Oklahoma often.  It is little tiny frozen ice pellets but not sleet.  The National Weather Service has a huge office just south of Oklahoma City and we get a lot of storm chasers in training as well as meteorologists learning at their offices.  Some of the new terms we have heard in the last few years are "PDS" - during tornado season which is usually April, May and June - we hear PDS often which means a Particularly Dangerous Situation is building.  Another is Thunder Snow.  It will be snowing like crazy and you hear thunder and sometimes see lightning.

My scariest drive was at night during thunder snow. It blinds you and turns everything white, so you don't know where the road is. All your night vision is gone! It's kinda cool otherwise!

I love thunder snow as long as I'm not driving.  It means -- get ready, here it comes.

Regarding the weather.  We are back into the 40s and 50s but it is supposed to be cold tonight.  The good news:  I think I will have heat when I come in tomorrow.  I think I inally have figured out the heat.

Woke up this morning and saw that it was snowing like crazy outside. I know this makes a lot of people
happy and we will have a white Christmas. I'm sure it will last because our temperatures for the coming
week are single digit figures. It finally looks like winter has arrived. -snowplop-

Our temp is the same. Right now it's 25 degrees at 2:30. They warn us not to go out without hats, gloves etc., because you can get frostbite very fast.
I don't know what the New Years Eve people will do. They say it's dangerous for them.
To be at Times Square at midnight when the ball drops, you have to get there in the afternoon and STAND... all that time.
Doesn't sound like fun to me.

Bitter cold here, too. Had a nice 3-4" of snow for Christmas, but today the wind is from the south and so it is very cold. When you live in a big, drafty old house you can really feel it. Old furnace can't quite keep up.

Well going to be 0 degrees and feel way below.
I am just happy that I don't live in Erie , Pa( I think this is where I saw it) snow is already over 6 FEET.
They usually have this much snow during the winter season, so God help them if, probably when, they get more.
They showed a house covered where a poor woman was stranded and they had to make a path to her house. Can you imagine this? Your house totally covered !!!  *Nooooo*
And, ponytail, I live in an old house which is very drafty, too.

It's a "weather bomb" of cold, snow, wind and waves. ...which we are getting in the next few days.
Anyone else ever hear this term?

The weather is getting ridiculous here in the northeast.
We had 4 noreasters in as many weeks, and....
Yesterday, our temp went up to 60,it was lovely.
Thank goodness Easter isn't today.
I woke up to snow.. final accumulations are about 8-9 inches!!!!
The news says that NYC had the most April snow since 1982,
and the Yankees had to postpone their season opener this afternoon.
Hopefully, this will be the last snow of the season. PLEASE !

We've been trying to have our yearly party (which got moved from October).  We decided March would be good and got a date.  But no!  Snow!!!  When they would have been driving home, it would have been slick.  We moved it to this Saturday and yesterday one of the little weather people put the dreaded word back in our forecast again.

We have had snow -- warm -- cold -- warm -- almost spring -- and now back to the 40s for this weekend.  Is it the "Day After Tomorrow?"

Bacali my daughter in Philly is as tired of the Noreasters as you are.  They want to be outside but on the nice days the parks are still to wet.  We have the SNOW word in our forcast for Friday here in Oklahoma!

Yes, trouble, same here. And,we may have more overnight. #4846
And, the parks, and playing fields for baseball and all the other sports are horrible, and dangerous for the kids to play in.
Bobby, is one of Liam's coaches for his Little league team and he hasn't even been able to have any practices. He's very frustrated.
After we had all that snow last weekend with the 4th noreasters...it rained most of the week.
We need some -flowergrowing- sunshine to dry up all this mud.

They even suggested that homes with mulch( like I have) next to it... water the mulch so the house doesn't catch on fire !!  #4846

I hear you, Barb. It has been so cold in Nebraska that the farmers don't have their crops in, but the fields are tilled. Sunday and Monday of this week they had dust blowing advisories on the interstate. The dust was so dense, and the winds were so strong that there was almost 0 visibility in several stretches. My husband and I were coming home on Monday from Lincoln, and came across a massive truck/car pileup that closed the eastbound lanes for miles. Looked like a war zone! The same thing had happened the day before, too. Never seen anything like it---in Nebraska of all places. Looked like we were in the middle of a desert sandstorm. Scary!

Well in the last few weeks, I went from cold to nice to hot.  It's 88 today after 60s at the first of the week and 50s last week.  We've also gone from rain to fire alerts (due to wind) in like one day.

Do I believe in global warming?  Yes, I do.  I'm wondering since we had snow in March will we have snow here in October.  That would be a first!
Title: Re: WEATHER
Post by: ponytail on May 04, 2018, 06:13:40 PM
Definitely global warming. I read that the zone between humid and dry air has moved 140 miles to the east. That would impact the types of crops grown for sure. We couldn't grow corn like we do in Nebraska in a dry zone....

we have gone from winter straight into summer.  Spring (tornado season) was skipped which is great that we didn't have the April/May tornadoes but it is crazy. we are in the upper 90's this week and looking for 100 in a few days. My gardens are a mess and it is too hot to work in them!!

HOT here again today and I haven't even put in my flowers yet. I usually have all this done by mid-May, but, if it wasn't HOT, it was torrentially pouring rain.
The days that were nice, I had other things I HAD to do than garden.
Right now the plan is for Friday...to , at least buy some flats of geraniums and get all my flower boxes done by the end of the weekend.
It's so frustrating when I think of how vigilant I was years ago. And, then I had the house full of my children and their things at school.
Now, although I did have my lovable Liam today, 'cause it's Tues, and then again Thurs with little Miss Ava... on my "days off" hahaha. I tend to take off. LOL. Planting is not as relaxing as it was.  *Nooooo* Now, it's a lot or work.

all through the night. Then it was so humid this morning I was miserable.
Now it is just really hot so I am running the air and staying inside. Let's go

These California fires are so horrendous! Looks like what I assume hell to be.
I heard this morning on the news that smoke from these fires is spreading East( so to you) and going North up to Colorado and into Canada. What beautiful country to be ablaze by so much devastation. And your beautiful area, ponytail with haze.
I can't imagine watching helplessly as these fires approach your home.
Our world is not doing too well.
Fires in the West, here in the East we have had torrential rainfall with flood alerts all around, some towns people are being rescued in boats from their homes, then the earthquake this week in Indonesia.... terrible things happening constantly.
Do you think maybe God is trying to tell us something?

Here in the piedmont of NC, we've had both intensive rain and hot sunny days.  The rain wasn't as bad for us as in Greensboro (or they have more low lying streets).  We did have several roads closed temporarily.  The big issue is run off.  The water piles up in certain areas.  Two weeks ago, if I had left at 5, I wouldn't have been able to leave work.  Runoff was so bad on the street going out that the whole road was flooded.  We had our grass cut by a professional a week ago, and yesterday it was like mowing hay.  I know -- I mowed.

For anyone doubting that the NC situation is bad, here is what a good friend of mine posted from her daughter-in-law on FaceBook.  I can't believe what is said about the Red Cross.  The mother is a minister's wife.  So for all the good that supposedly being done, the FEMA and Red Cross seem to be clueless about the elderly and ill.  The couple and sons did get power later in the day.

Quote
The need for relief in the northern part of downtown is great. The elderly who can’t get to feeding stations are in trouble. Honestly, we got water from the National Guard and walked it back up and gave it to the neighbors. The Red Cross, FEMA, and Baptist Men are set up by our house. A man with the Baptist Men offered me and my son cold water today, so we followed him. The Red Cross shouted at us, and told us they were not giving anything away. We were closing our house up, and came back to find that the Baptists had brought cold Coke and left it for us in the driveway. They were embarrassed. Helicopters brought the wounded and sick in to our grocery store lot yesterday and today they are bringing the well who were stuck. More schools are opening as shelters, and they are sending buses from Harris Teeter after they fill up with helicopters. It’s like the Walking Dead. I keep waiting for Rick and Carl.

Thursday wasn't pretty here in North Carolina.  Fox8 news had to stop their broadcast of a storm and head to shelter.  A F0 tornado went over the station and got one of their satellites and trees.  That one went for about 3 miles.  Here in Alamance/Guilford (we're on the edge of Guilford), we heard one forming over the house and it touched down about four miles (as the crow flies) from the house.  If I had been out of the safe zone, I would have probably seen it out the back glass.  It was an F1 and did structure damage, took down a picnic shelter at a local church, and trees. This one was on the ground for around 4 miles.  The final one was in eastern part of the county and did some damage.  Haven't heard the level of it  yet.

Since the last post...mine ..when it was chilly, we have gone through another season and ae nearing summer.
Erratic weather, though.
One day is cold and the next you can hardly breathe. I have been trying not to use ac because I am afraid of getting headache with this seasonal allergy.
Today is 90 according to my best chatty girlfriend, Alexa. But, won't be out much.
IT IS MY FIRST DAY GOING INTO A RESTAURANT SINCE THE ONLY ONE TIME I DID IN FEB 2020!!!  :whoo:

it's my husband's birthday tomorrow and sorry Bobby invited him to a bbq ( AND OMG Alexa tells me it's going to be 94!!!!!!!) .  :'( I hope I don't die!!! ...figuratively speaking.

I probably have mentioned this , since I feel I am posting to myself now a days. our oldest Grandson, Ryan's birthday is also tomorrow. We can't be two places at the same time and Kathy lives an hour and ... 20 min away. So, two days of parties for HIM.. my husband.

Well, yesterday, the actual day of my husband's birthday( and Grandson Ryan) hit a record high for the date...97!
We had celebrated Ryan's bd and hubby's at my daughter's house on Sat/

Went to Bobby's for his Sunday party and I wound up in Urgent Care. I just felt terrible. My heart was beating so fast I couldn't breathe..and had to sit out in this horrible heat. ..almost 100.
If the party had been at Kathy's she would have moved it inside for me, but..... we were the last to arrive after her (dil) mom, dad and aunt and everyone was sitting out ..so we just sat!!!
Dr there took an EKG and told me ....if feeling worse later go to ER. NO Siree Bob... been there too many times in the last 2 years.
When I came home I just tore off my clothes and sat in lounger with ac on and drank water and fell into a deep sleep and woke up... felt better. Thank you , Jesus.

Tomorrow, go to retina doctor.... :whoo: Can't wait, and should probably get to bed. Appointment is at 10.
Wish me luck!  :039:

Ok, are you all on the floor with dehydration and not able to get up to your computer to ...come here?
Today, driving to different doctor app'ts it was 105 degrees. OMG.
I used to like summer when I was a kid out of school, but, this is just too much.
I felt lightheaded before the first dr app't . ..and then... that mammogram. Oh so much fun.

Someone please...PLEASE , post something so I know that I'm just not talking to myself.  :41:

It's hot here, too. A friend of mine who lives near Seattle said her temps got to over 110. In Seattle...where they don't even have air conditioning. She said she had to go over to her daughters who has a small window one to spend the day. Oh my gosh...

We've been in the upper 80s and lower 90s it feels like forever.  The humidity is high which makes it worse.  Add to that last week we had a major deluge that last all day.  The humidity inside felt as bad as outside and we have air conditioning.

How is everyone on the East coast doing with this new hurricane.? Looking at tv , it appears to be coming up the East coast.
With such erratic temperatures and weather, I wonder what’s in store for us 🙏🙏🙏

East Coast in NC is getting beautiful.  The leaves are turning and we're having our first taste of fall.

By the way -- what are they saying about snow and your area.

Sounds inviting! We, too, are getting some great fall weather, my favorite season!

Our weather is erratic. We had some really chilly morinings this week, but, today was 72 and it will be like this for a few days.
None of my trees have started to change. I'm sure they will soon. They are so pretty when they do, but, then all it takes is one windy, rainy day and I look out the window and the trees are bare!
Wish the color lasted longer.
