hey ponytail, I thought youmight like this recipe that my old boss who was a big hunter type gave me. I have never tried it but who knows, it's good for a laugh.
HUNTERS POSSUM
1 possum
4 lg onions
1 doz lg potatoes
1 head cabbage
1 doz carrots --not those little baby kinds
1 garlic clove
1tsp black pepper
2 tsp salt
Parboil possum for 3 hours, discard water, then parboil possum another 1 and a half hours and discard water. Place possum in roaster with quartered onions, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, and seasonings. bake at 325 degrees until possum is tender. Leave cover off to brown. Add small amounts of fresh water as needed. Quarter possum and serve on platter with other items.
He was quite the guy. one night he came to our house and looked at our mounted deer head on the wall. He ran out in the kitchen, grabbed 2 slices of white bread, and began to rub it down to clean all the dust off it. Crumbs were flying everywhere. He had a few too many --but so were we so it was a hoot. seeing your boss standing on a chair dusting off your deer head with some bread.

Well mystico, you look like you might be able to use this recipe eventually!
SKUNK WASH
1 qt. 3% hydrogen peroxide
1/4 c. baking soda
1-2 tsp. liquid soap
Mix all ingredients together. You may add water if you have a larger dog. Work the mixture into the dog's fur right away, do not soak over 2 minutes, and then rinse. Keep out of dog's eyes, mouth and nose. Dispose of remainder. Try this out if you ever have a skunk problem!
I have used this recipe a time or two, and sure beats the tomato juice!

but compared to you.... I'm a 'city-slicker" even though I live in a small house in the suburbs.
Nope...no possum dinner for me..
I cant get them all to like a leg of lamb!!!!

mystico--here is another recipe for you:
HOT PIE'S DIREWOLF SCONES
Recipe courtesy Chelsea Monroe-Cassel
2 cups flour
1/4 cups sugar
1 Tbs. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4-1 cup cream or milk
Dried currants
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2. Blend all the ingredients except the currants, adding milk/cream as necessary until you can form a dough ball.
3. Roll the ball out with your hands until it's about 1/2" thick, round.
4. Cut out direwolf shapes - or any shape you prefer!
5. Add currants for the eyes... If you're making a House Stark logo scone, use slivered almonds for the teeth!
6. Bake 15 minutes on a lightly greased baking sheet, then cool and serve!
...And the best part is, while you sleep you might skin-walk in the body in the scones!

It is yummy and you can use the leftovers for beef tacos or sandwiches. :08:

I think it sounds delsh, too. I will give it a try and let you know how mine turns out.

Crock pot suggestion --
1 jar of beef gravy
1 sirloin steak
2 baking potatoes wrapped in foil
2 ears of corn on the cob wrapped in foil
Put your gravy in the crockpot then put the steak on top. Put a layer of foil over the top and cover the steak well. put your wrapped potatoes and wrapped corn on top of the foil covering the steak. cook on low 6-7 hours or on high 4 hours. Makes your entire dinner -- steak, baked potato and corn on the cob!! Easy Peezy!!

Orange Cream Fruit Dip
I have made this dip a couple of times in the last month, and it's always a hit. I serve it with apple and orange slices. It makes about 1 1/4 cups.
4 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp orange zest
1/2 c. powdered sugar
1/4 c. freshly squeezed orange juice
1/4 c. whipping cream (poured directly from the carton)
Beat cream cheese, orange zest, and vanilla in a medium size bowl on medium speed with a hand mixer until smooth. Add powdered sugar a little at a time, mixing after each addition. Add orange juice then beat until smooth. Add cream then continue to beat with mixer until thick and creamy, about 1 minute.
