Thank you bacali for the honor of being the winner of week 8.

The next sentence is:

She walked to the mailbox feeling both excitement and dread.
Our lives end the day we become silent about things that matter. - Dr. Martin Luther King

She walked to the mailbox feeling both excitement and dread.
Last nights phone call had awakened her from a deep sleep and she had actually thought she was still dreaming as she heard this far away voice on the other end of the line.
But, daylight now solidified her realization that this call was only too real. It was one she had been waiting for what seemed her whole life.
Amanda had acted only out of love when she handed her 5 lb precious child to the agency worker that bleak January morning.
Waiting these 18 years had been total hell !
The distant voice had told her that the records she had longed to see were finally released and they'd been put in the mail.
Now, as she walked down her front walk ,she prayed God would give her the strength for these last few steps to the mailbox.
Her heart leaped with excitement, but, also, now came the dread.
What would these records tell her? Did she do the right thing or not?
She opened the mailbox, and took out the brown envelope and began to read........

She walked to the mailbox feeling both excitement and dread.  It had been 2 weeks, 14 long days, since she had mailed out copies of her manuscript to 62 large and small publishing companies.  Surely today she would get a response from at least one of them! Back in high school her English teacher had said she really had talent.  She had done everything her family wanted and gone to college, studied hard, graduated with honors and now, if she didn't get a publisher for her book, she would have to either take the job at the library or get married.  Please God, please let there be a response!!
Here's to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.

She walked to the mailbox feeling both excitement and dread. The instructions had been all too clear. It wasn't that she didn't have the money to pay the kidnappers off; it was more a matter of the naughty emails from his secretary that she'd found on his laptop last month. She opened the mailbox and pulled out the familiar looking box and removed the plain brown paper. Another finger. That makes four. She wondered if her husband knew. Maybe she should call the police today. If she waited too long there might be questions, but she hated to think they might rescue him before he'd learned his lesson. 'Oh well, maybe tomorrow', she said, closing the mailbox and whistling her way back to the house.

Too dark? Sorry, it was kind of hard to think of something odd you might get in the mail.

Not too dark! My kind of story!

She walked to the mailbox feeling both excitement and dread. Surely this time he would get the message. Surely this time he would know how much she loved him. Erikka had fallen in love with Sam 2 years ago, when she babysat for his family. He was so tall, so handsome, so strong, such a good father. Too bad he was married to that whiny little bitch. She had tried before to show him the difference between 'her' and Erikka, but he just looked at her strangely. Soon the family had moved away, but not far enough away that Erikka couldn't find them. One of these days, he would know who truly loved him... She opened the mailbox and put in a reminder. Maybe the nude photos she had taken of herself in front of his house would show him how much she cared, how much she would do to make him happy.
