GoT--Walk of Punishment
« on: April 14, 2013, 10:33:17 PM »
The funeral of Catelyn's father Lord Hoster Tully is being held. A boat holding his body is shoved off into the river and Edmure Tully tries 3 times to fire a burning arrow into the boat to ignite it. He is shoved aside and his uncle 'the Blackfish' does the job himself. (youngsters)! The boat floats away, properly burning.
Later Edmure brags about defeating some of Tywin's forces and capturing the 2 young sons of one of his relatives. Robb Stark is not impressed, he lost 208 of his men, they will not be able to trade the boys for his sisters, and Edmure was supposed to draw Tywin's forces (the Mountain) out to the west, which he did not.

The small council meets--Tywin, Bailish, Varys, Pycelle, Cersei, and Tyrion. Tyrion is the last to arrive and comically drags his squeaking chair to the end of the table. Tywin is upset that none of them have any news to report of Jaime who has escaped the clutches of Robb Stark. Recent events are discussed, Peter Baelish is going to be sent to the Aerie to hopefully wed Lady Aryn. Which would give Robb Stark one less ally. His position as Master of Coin is vacant and given to Tyrion who is not pleased.

Brienne and Jaime are on the move roped back to back on one horse. Brienne teases Jaime about his poor swordsmanship. This unlikely pair has formed an uneasy alliance, and Jaime warns her not to resist anything they do to her or they will kill her.

Arya is still on the move with the Brotherhood Without Banners. The Hound is their prisoner as well. Hot Pie is remaining behind at the Inn as payment for all the meals the innkeeper has provided free for the brotherhood. He gives Arya a loaf of bread shaped like a wolf.

Catelyn and her uncle 'the Blackfish' remember her father, and how Catelyn would wait at the window for his return. She wonders if her children did the same thing, and fears she will never see them again. Her uncle bolsters her up and tells her she must remain strong.
Talisa is treating the wound of one of the captive boys who seems to believe Robb Stark can change into a wolf. She goes along with it in a teasing way.

Mance Rayder, Jon Snow, Ygritte, and the wildling warg come upon a huge slaughter of horses whose bodies have been arranged in a strange spiral, No humans are found so that is not good! Mance Rayder sends Jon and others to attack Castle Black.

Sam and his band of the Nightwatch find shelter once more at Craster's Keep. One of his 'wives' is in the throes of childbirth and we hear earsplitting screams. Craster taunts Sam comparing him to his fat pigs and telling the rest of the Nightwatch that they can dine on him as they go--look at him, he's a feast. The moans continue despite threats from Craster. Sam walks through camp and sees the woman, but walks away.

Theon is released, given a horse and told to ride east to where his sister is waiting.

Stannis and Melisandre part at the beach. She is leaving on a mysterious journey despite his protestations. Stannis wants to 'create' another child to destroy his competition, but Melisandre says his fires burn too low. She says the Lord of Light demands sacrifices.

In Astapor, Daenarys, Jorah, and Barristan go down the Walk of Punishment where dozens of the unsullied are tied to crosses, beaten and bleeding. She offers water to one of them. They meet with the slave owner and Dani tells him she will buy all 8000 of the unsullied plus all of them that are yet in training. With his usual comtempt for her and insulting her in a language she does not understand he tells her she cannot afford them. But he changes his mind fast when she offers him a dragon--the biggest. To seal the bargain, she asks for the translator Missandei as a gift and he agrees. Dani chastises Jorah and Barristan for disagreeing with her in front of the slaver and warns them who is in charge. She asks Missandai if she is willing to go to war with her. Missandei says 'Valar Morghulis' (all men must die). Dani says, as they both smile, we are not men.

Tyrion and Pod are at the whorehouse getting the ledgers from Baelish. He tells Tyrion that he needs to keep a low profile, they're only numbers. He also reminds Tyrion that Pod saved his life. Tyrion rewards Pod with 3 of Baelish's most skilled whores, as he has never been with a woman.
As Tyrion looks at the ledgers, he finds the Baelish has been borrowing the money to fund the kingdom from Tyrion's father--millions. They can't afford to pay it back--and that Tyrion's father owes the Iron Bank of Brothers tens of millions, and that they always find a way to get back their money. Pod returns from his date with the ladies, and plunks down the coin that Tyrion paid them with. No charge. Tyrion is puzzled, intrigued and then wondering 'why a whore wouldn't take money'. Interest piqued, he sits down Pod and asks for details.

Theon is being chased down. He makes a mad run through the forest, but is dehorsed, depantsed, and getting beaten, when his captors are shot--by the young man who freed him from the dungeon. He extends his hand to him and says 'Winter is coming'.

We end this episode on a very dramatic note. Brienne and Jaime are tied to separate trees. The men come for Brienne, taking her off into the woods to rape her as she fights them all the way. Jaime asks their leader Vargo Hoat if they know who she is, she is the daughteer of Lord Selwyn of Tarth and he would pay her weight in sapphires if she is returned to him alive and unsullied. He seems to have struck the right note as Brienne is brought back and retied to her tree. Jaime continues to talk to Vargo, offering him wealth, lands, titles for his freedom. He asks to be let loose so he can lay down, and Vargo releases him and offers to feed him as well. He is brought to a tree stump, all the while thinking his offer is being considered and he will be fed, when he is roughly pushed face first onto the stump, his arms spread out and a knife at his throat. Vargo tells him he can't expect to just say his father's name and people will quiver and do what he asks. The knife is raised, and in an instant, Jaime Lannister has lost his right hand.
